Tripods are powerful but slow and cumbersome and easy targets for firepower. Viking warriors and companions of same high numbers are slow AND weak, no match for their adversaries. Their side needs more firepower!

Indeed the special forces won but the seed of unease and doubt is already forming within Tesla's mind by Sauron's ally tri pod machines this is what Sauron accomplished for now. Knowing Tesla of having that seed growing in his mind knows that he must overcome it and find ways to beat or adapt against Sauron's new machines being more durable or fire power or combine both to be more deadly and effective even efficient that depends on Tesla of not losing to the doubt and uneasiness if he does, the special forces will lose this war and everyone within.
