Maratha empire single handedly reduced influence of mughals and hence stopping conversions. This resulted in modern day demography. You changed the topic completely. It's actually supported by archeological evidence. Not necessarily who were these people, where they went afterwards or what their exact place in history is. But we do have overwhelming evidence for a migration in that period.
