This is a truly time tested piece of Gear, but it also remained mostly unchanged for about a Decade. How does it stack up against the Maxpedition Gearslinger Sitka?

Nice review. I love this bag so much I bought 2. I have one set up as a get home bag. I like that I can attach my EDC to it. The other I use for various different day hikes and short camping trips. Very nice bag, very versatile.
@corvinousedc10 ай бұрын
Yes, it is a great bag, not sure I would buy 2 though,😉

@@corvinousedc I bought the 2nd one because I wanted a new bushcraft bag. So far it's working out great.

Thanks for giving the molle bags some love/attention. I typically but black color to hide the tactical… or add some small “color” details (friendly patch, colorful carabiner, changing zipper pulls, water bottle). Get bags
@corvinousedc Жыл бұрын
I Do have a few black ones as well but usually I am not too concerned. Depends were you live and the cultural background as well...however if I feel the tactical character would be too much, I just switch to another bag...mostly though I don't have to. But I like the idea of adding friendlies.....

Man! Thanks for the idea of keeping a Dry Bag in there! I will definitely be getting 1 for mine! And you’re correct about that Conceal carry pocket! I have a tendency to over pack mine so it is harder to get the Firearm out but I always have a Firearm on my body anyway so the 1 in that pocket is just a back up!

Yip I think the only ones that get the access to concealed carry right are the guys from Vertex.

“Stabilizer -strap” is the name usually used for that 3rd strap option, fwiw & IIRC

Hey man great review of the pack. You've got some nice accompanying gear like the Maxpedition and Sealskinz stuff that I will definitely check into.

Thx, Sealskinz are great. Indeed.

The designs of the Moab 8 and 10 are so close to being substitutes for the discontinued Maxpedition Gila and Pecos, its really frustrating for me. If only they made models with all the compartments being empty and lined with velcro. I'd pay extra for that and for them to redesign the zipper cover to be able to be secured away from the zipper path with maybe velcro or bungee cord. And last remove the media pouch on the Moab 10 sling. Thanks for the detailed review, I had spent a good time looking at the Moab 8 in person and was curious about the 10 and your video was really insightful, especially the molle sticks bit. I will be getting a few of those for myself.
@corvinousedc8 ай бұрын
I agree with all of that. If you want Velcro lined, go Vanquest or Vertx. A bit more money. But worth it.

Thanks for the review, what brand are the 2 'carabiners' (?) attached to the front of the bag?

Those are really cheap "viper" MOLLE hooks. If you Google viper backpacks.

Went the 511 store and examined thr Moab 8 and Moab 10. Th 10 is so large if I packed it full, it woukd be too much for a sling bag. Might as well just carry a backpack and spread the weight over both shoulders. I chose the 8. Deep CCW pocket that holds my full size 1911. Large enough to carry 2 or 3 books, cigar accoutrement box, water bottles, note pad and pens, eye glass cleaners, asthma rescue inhaler, etc. The 8 just slings on a shoukder very easily.

I previously purchased the MOAB 8 and though I do like it and its build quality is fantastic but being 6’4” (194 cm) felt a bit small for me. The MOAB 10 fits me perfectly. The larger size allows me to have extra space in case I decide to pick something up while walking around but the compression straps allow me to stick with my fairly minimal EDC pack out without the bag being loose and floppy. I suspect frame size will and should play a part in deciding whether to go with the smaller MOAB 8 or the larger MOAB 10.

Please, how to put support strap on Moab 10?
@corvinousedc11 ай бұрын
Your Moab will have come with a small bundle of webbing and buckles. It is called the Rush Tier system. THis would usually allow you to attach the Moab to another bag. You can use these Straps to build a support strap by hooking one of the female buckles to the Shoulder straps webbing & the other side to the pals webbing on the side of the bag. Have a play, if you get stuck, let me know and I can post a short how to video...... cheers

walking in to any place with that pack is screaming "look, I am carrying a gun".
@corvinousedc11 ай бұрын
I agree, but that is just not a thing in New Zealand, where I live. If I was living in the US, my perspective would be different and I would not carry it unless I wanted to advertise it.......
