I delivered a baby then circumsized him with my Raptor Shears by Leatherman. Thank God I had my Streamilght Survivor flashlight to guide me through it. It was pretty dark. Afterward I repelled from the scene and woke up in my bunk. LOL !

Lovely Video! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Rozardner Lucky Interview Reality (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a good exclusive guide for firefighter interview tips minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cooworker at last got excellent success with it.

My five tools that every fire fighter needs. 1. The ability to Think. 2. A strong work ethic. 3. Knowing what their responsibilities are. "Stop the threat as fast and safe as possible while using the least amount of water." 4. Knowing that Protecting victims comes before trying to rescue them as protection can happen faster than rescue by eliminating the threat from outside. 5. Knowing that climbing on the roof of a burning building to cut holes to improve interior conditions is ridiculous. Open a window at the fire room and apply water.

1) streamlight is a light like a other one, in a lot of european country, we do not have "body lamp", the helmet one is enough. 2)raptor are good shears, but they are too expensive for volunteer firefighter, xshear should be considered 3)I don't know how it is in US, but safety harness aren't a "firefighter's thing" (except for specialised units) here in Switzerland, they are a truck thing. 4)depending of your area, if there isn't building in your area, we would trust other firefighters to give us a ladder here in Switzerland. 5)extrication pliers are definitely a truck thing

John Doe, I do general laboring at a waste water treatment plant out of Chicago il USA, that and a lot of random jobs combined together cause the need for a lot of cutting. They are perfect for cutting zip ties, metalstraps, the seat belt cutters are great for cutting plastic liners.

Flashlight: standard equipment Leatherman: not useful for all firefighters around the globe Harness: also not useful for all firefighters as in some countries something similar to it is integrated into the jacket. Same goes for that other thing which is standard with units that are meant to go to high up places (not every firefighter around the globe is trained to do so) Strongarm: useless if you have a bolt cutter or keys to all the big compounds in your jurisdiction. All in all none of these are a must have as they are either standard or just not all that useful.

as someone who has used it, that hurst edraulic strongarm is absolutely useless. If you need to force a door, use a halligan, if you need it for vehicle extrication, use a regular cutter or spreader. When something is a jack of all trades, its a master at none.

Title should be “5 things that some rich person should buy for their department”.I’ll say that the LED version of the survivor light is better than the halogen version, but A light is better than NO light. As for the other stuff.....meh. The shears are neat having an O2 wrench in them but other than being able to cut rolled gauze, my disposable shears do all of the same stuff. I’ll take a spring loaded punch any day over a manual punch and most seatbelt cutters are basically worthless from my experiences. The harness is cool for rescue. The petzl harness is neat but probably impractical for most departments. The one use I could see for it is districts with a lot of townhouses or dormers in their district.
