I don’t wanna rain on anyone’s parade but I’d have concerns about this TJL company. When I saw that sheepsfoot knife I thought that the style and build of it looked familiar, the micarta and the stonewash on the blade specifically; then you pulled out the drop point and I was like “yep there it is!” I have seen that same drop point being sold on Amazon under probably six different brand names. I think it’s one of those knives that a factory in China makes that anyone can buy for stupid cheap and put their brand name on. I have one myself that I bought for $11 under the brand ADSWEER. I also have a cleaver blade one that has the same aesthetic and is the same deal where you can find it under multiple brand names, mine was a “liuliang”. Now I haven’t seen that sheepsfoot around from other brands, but given that it comes alongside that drop point and has the same look, I’d say it’s almost certainly the same situation. I don’t know anything about these TJL guys but I’d be skeptical of the story they told you. Now maybe they are intending to design some knives and have this factory make it…maybe they were shopping around for a factory for their designs and they found one that said “Hey just to get you started, we’ve got these models that we can put your logo on so that you open your shop with some product and get the ball rolling, while we’re working on producing your designs.” I think best case scenario that’s what’s happening. Worst case is they’re just scamming you, because these knives can be had for much cheaper than $40, if all you want is that knife and you don’t care about the brand on it.
