I watched several BT videos, including campaigns, on different channels. I simply have to say it : You and your people did a freakin' awesome job. From the Campaign overview, to movement, to the battles, the effects. For me, this was the most entertaining BT vid/campaign I ever watched. I want more of this ! This was incredibly enjoyable!! .Keep up the good work. Hungry for more !

That was a glorious battle to end the first phase. The last stand that utterly blunted the enemy assault was beautiful.

Your battle reports continue to be entertaining and informative. One question: did you add one damage for hits crossing a target's rear hexside? Also, for Turn 8, the Nightstar charged and cannot make a physical and shooting attack on the same turn.
@WargamerStories
@WargamerStories 7 ай бұрын
First Question: I am not sure if they did or not. I was only observing, writing notes and taking pics/ filming. Looking at my notes I scribbled, "boom, he's dead..." I just recalled it was a lot of damage coming in and the mech only had 3 structure points left to begin with. Wait, they did, I remember finding it on page 48, top right corner, one tiny little sentence saying to add 1 damage to any successful attack striking the target's rear. Turn 8, physical and shooting- yep, as written only can do one or the other. But, my players discussed and both decided that it was cooler that the Nightstar just "ran over, crashed into" while shooting at the other mech. Therefore, for special melee attacks, they agreed that there is still shooting but with penalized target number. My players constantly quote the rule on page 102 of Tamar Rising, "don't let yourself get so caught up in the rules that you stop having fun". So as a game master, if the players want to house rule something on the spot, they both agree, they both think it adds more fun- then I am a push over and say "fine - ok, knock yourselves out!"

Hi guys, enjoying the vids and my group is learning AS with your work! Question: what rule set are you using for campaign management?
@WargamerStories
@WargamerStories 7 ай бұрын
We use our own. I am making a video to explain how the campaign works- just holidays are getting in the way :) There is a rough draft of the campaign rules on our Patreon if you want to have a look before the video comes out. We also incorporate Chaos Campaign's resource- the almighty War Chest Point to keep things simple. This way, the players don't spend much time counting bullets, missiles, rations, flux capacitors, etc.

Stumbled across your video while looking for Alpha Strike battle reports. I enjoyed your story-style, nice and concise. I don't have the time to watch hours of chatter, movement, dice rolling etc. Good job! Safe to assume that you just put some hills under a standard neoprene mat? looks great! I'm headed to your other videos to see if you have a stand-alone video on your terrain. I've got a lot of the inner sphere product from the last couple years, but have yet to commit to terrain and more than a couple 'demo' alpha strike games. For our demo games we've shuffled up and drafted mechs for our teams, rather than designing/painting specific lances. I can see it being cool either way.
@WargamerStories
@WargamerStories 7 ай бұрын
yep, for the hills we stick plastic containers or balled-up blankets under neoprene mats to give it that rolling-hills-look. As for the other terrain, we picked it up over the years from Etsy or model train stores. Actually, our mechs were painted without any rhyme or reason. If mechs match in a lance, likely the player designed their lance around matching mechs--- probably not the most tactically sound way of designing a lance... but to each their own. We have a pool of mechs that the players are sharing to put their lances together from right now. However, when the Kickstarter BattleTech Mercenary ships- we should have more than enough mechs :D

So, I think the only thing that would help is if the name of the mechs shooting and getting shot at were color coded when you're talking about them. Then I can at least follow which team is which a bit easier. You go through the turns quickly which I like but I personally could use the visual aid.
@WargamerStories
@WargamerStories 7 ай бұрын
You mean like a nameplate under the mechs while they are shooting? Or the army's crest in the corner of the video during their shooting phase? Or a little from column A and B?
@ElGreco15
@ElGreco15 7 ай бұрын
@@WargamerStories A little of both would be cool, but I think a color coded nameplate even with the abbreviated name (Jvn instead of Javelin for example) is enough. I don't want to add a lot of work to your videos. On the other hand, for a lot more work, maybe having a list like in Sins of a Solar Empire on each side at the end of the round with Armor and Structure of each army would help with reading the flow of battle. JVN-10 2 1 BJ-1 2 4 AWS-8Q 4 10 CHG-1 7 6 The numbers are probably wrong, you get the idea. I say the end of the round to avoid getting in the way of the visuals in battle, and to visually summarize how combat went overall. But this would be probably much more work. Overall I really like your battle reports, keep up the good work! P.S. For a good nap, take a shot every time I said work

Subscribed. Great video. I liked the added battle effects and will look up your other videos. BTW-On top of the building with a courtyard is a communication tower. I've seen it in other videos but can't identify it to buy one. Can you tell us where you got it from? Thanks.
@WargamerStories
@WargamerStories 7 ай бұрын
I get majority of my terrain from various vendors off of Etsy. That particular communication tower I got from K2C2Creations, though I believe she licensed from another in order to have rights to 3D print. Below is a link to the particular shop that I got my terrain from. I recommend shopping around and find the best deal for you for shipping. There are many vendors making terrain for 6mm scale. www.etsy.com/shop/K2C2Creations?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=1258216556&from_page=listing

Nice reports. What kind of material do you use for the roads ?
@WargamerStories
@WargamerStories 7 ай бұрын
I'm glad you're enjoying the reports! The roads were bought many, many moons ago. It's made of rubber, so they are flexible to bend with the terrain. The overpasses and bridges were bought from a model train store. Those are acrylic plastic that I painted and glued together. The scale you're looking for is 6mm to 10mm for BattleTech terrain.

I am really enjoying your videos and campaign. I had never seen those coloured team markers before, I am considering purchasing some myself….i am curious why you have made the decision to move away from using them in this video? You only seem to be using them for vehicles. Was there a practical problem using them for mechs?
@WargamerStories
@WargamerStories 7 ай бұрын
No practical problem with the mechs. I think we just didn't have enough or it was a case of "I thought you were bringing them? Me?! No, I was bringing the nachos." Oh well, we play for fun- and that was the day we could all meet. However, we definitely needed them for the vehicles (since those are proxies and don't have bases). If you're looking for some, we got the hex team markers off of Etsy. We might need to get more ourselves...

I replied to your other comment, but just in case you miss that one, I put it here too. I got the tanks and vehicles off of Etsy. There are many vendors selling them, so find the one with the best price and shipping. Search in Etsy for "6mm tanks" or "6mm vehicles". There are a lot of good options :) I think the vendor I got them from had interchangeable turrets to choose different variations.
