I usually mix a song on average as you do... a verse and a chorus for some songs... 2 verses 2 chorus for other songs, or songs that people are really feeling, I'll mix out after the bridge...I'll bridge the song into the next song... the crowd always seemed pleased with it, but the owners fired me suddenly for not letting full songs play and rehired a dj that just pushes buttons on a desktop....yea I said a desktop... ouch right? I looked at it as a blessing, the moment I was let go I knew I didnt wanna work for those people. That is a blessing... i am still a rookie so I'll take it on the chin and keep it movin. Went from the crowd being shocked that Im less than a year into this craft (i study and practice a LOT)....to the owners feeling they would rather pay for a button pusher... i aint gon lie I just got the call today and Im a little hurt... but I know my goals and how hard I am working to get better so I know its their loss! Im also in a terrible part of the country, unfortunately... I was lucky to have a residency so early but most people truly so not appreciate the craft of DJing here... it hurts cause its an L, but the silver lining is I learn not to take the Ls personally...because L has 2 meaning... Loss...and Learn... okay 3.... Live... I Learned from my Loss, now I Live to have an even better gig next time! ❤ Thanks to people like you helping us learn and giving us a blue print to build from... I know the DJ scene is gonna get crowded...but I was a hip hop artist first, who had done shows with Slick Rick and Twista...not to name drop... i just liked other peoples music better than mine (toxic trait) and so I decided I would rather DJ than perform. I love music. I love learning the craft of DJing with respect and homage... I love the community and how we lift eachother up... but its heartbreaking when you do business with people who never gave a fuck about the craft...they killin the vibe in their own damn venue... I just talked my self into realizing my next move.... actually get a gig somewhere where they are absolutely going to appreciate what I bring to the table! The great thing about entrepreneurship, is when you lose a job, you still have work to do! 🙃

You should do a video about emceeing tips !
@DJLiftOFF2 жыл бұрын
Very important video and topic! I’m actually still working on my emceeing skills so I wouldn’t say I’m at a level to give excellent advice. But I’ll definitely knock that out sooner than later. Very important skill though, 8 or 9 times out of 10.

What’s up man I’m new to your channel I’m a beginner and your vids have helped me I appreciate you and your time. I have a question when you start your set your first what 5 to 10 songs should be good songs to get the crowd going or to feel the vibe of the room or how you start your set should create the vibe? I play at things like baby showers or a friend bday party etc no clubs or nothing like that. I sometimes struggle how to start and friends would come say “switch it up” etc… and I think that’s because I don’t start right.
@DJLiftOFF2 жыл бұрын
Someone saying switch it up doesn’t always mean it’s on you. I think some people at events just really want to hear what they want to hear. Unfortunately, there’s no perfect answer to this because it’ll most likely depend on the crowd. I would say just really try to feel out to what the crowd is vibing with. I usually start with more calm and chill vibes, but again, always depends on the crowd.

bro we need more mixing tutorials using reverb echo etc. what the level/depth is for
@DJLiftOFF2 жыл бұрын
Mixing has definitely been the most requested. Okay.. I’m thinking maybe an in depth video focusing on echo alone and mentioning like you said, what the level is for. The amount of beats. Ways to use it.. etc I struggle sometimes trying to figure which videos will be helpful to everyone. But maybe just making more videos in general and covering more things would be best. Thinking out loud.
@WazzyTV2 жыл бұрын
@@DJLiftOFF yes that will be dope.. covering the level/depth, when you put the echo to 1/2 3/4 etc what it does, and when do you trigger it in the song depending on the type of beats you set it.
@DJLiftOFF2 жыл бұрын
@@WazzyTV okay cool! I’m dropping a scratch pattern tomorrow/this morning. But I have a in depth echo vid cued up next. Thanks bro 💯

Aye, you better not cut off Knee Deep by Funkadelic early. And you better not cut off the Benjamin's before it gets to Kim and Biggies verse🤣🤣 Better know your audience! People still love to dance fluently. People still love hearing breakdowns. People still love 32 in and 32 out.
