I grew up in Church Hill, a historic neighborhood. I hope the area's flavor will remain with all the new developments. Thanks for the video. I live in Chesterfield now, but most of my relatives live in the city. I'm glad people are noticing our city.

Do a top 5 Black communities if any, I live in Midlothian years ago thinking about about renting a place soon. Richmond is a place people will never forget I don't what it is lol!

Just sold my house in Woodbridge. My daughter & I have been considering Richmond for many of the reasons U cite. I’m nervous as I can’t tell what’s a safe area & what’s not. I have seen a couple places I like, only to see it’s in a bad area. Just saw a perfect home on Stockton St, but see that it’s a bad area. It’s so frustrating. I do like Forest Park, but some have said to locate on the north side of the river. Also - I’m a cash buyer… I have read & been told that cash buyers often pay under list price - 10%-25% less. Do U find that true? Thanks!

Thanks for these insights and questions! One of the big challenges in home searching is that opinions can vary so widely. I live south of the river (Forest Hill) and LOVE it, but I know plenty of friends who would never live on this side. I think the only solution is to see these neighborhoods for yourself, ideally visiting at different times of the day so that you can witness the community in real time. Regarding cash offers: Every seller loves getting a cash offer (because it eliminates the financing and appraisal contingencies), but 10-25% discount seems high to me. I’ve been told that Woodland Heights & Forest Park are great areas. It’s def hard to house hunt when U don’t know the area.

@@Girlonthego1 I live in the Forest Hill Park neighborhood, and LOVE it. One of my videos spotlights this beautiful neighborhood. @@MyBestLifeInRVA Forest Hill looks very nice. We love the older homes - the four squares & that type of look. I saw some of these houses in your Forest Hill video - I didn’t know they were all over the city. I thought they were more north. It doesn’t look like too many people are selling in Forest Gill right now. At least not in our price range. lol I’ll keep my eyes open! U can check the house we just saw over on Stockton, so U can see the style we’re looking for. It’s just fabulous inside. It’s not in Forest Hills & it looks like it might be a scarier neighborhood. Saw a news story from a year ago that someone was killed on Stockton.
