Bought a Vit last year as my first bike,.. and Never Once have i questioned my decision. I am Extremely happy with my purchase , and while i will Definately upgrade at some point... i have ZERO desire to get rid of the Vit. It is a Perfect First Bike... and a great Backup or Second bike. Really is a fun and enjoyable machine.

Nice to see someone actually using the quickshifter. For some weird reason it bugs me when people are reviewing bikes with quickshifters and they keep doing these slow, clunky shifts with the clutch all the way up and down the gears. Just a personal bugbear. I love my quickshifter.

Agree. Always thought that was strange too. No idea why you’d want to not use the quick shifter if it’s there. So much more convenient and smooth. Thanks for watching:

And yes you’re very right about it’s looks that always has people checking it out. No one ever says anything about my 890R but the Vitpilen always gets all the attention.

Exactly my experience as well. I’m thinking the Vit just seems approachable, people feel comfortable coming forward. That’s why in the video I mention it’s always positive attention. It’s not the attention that a Harley would get with straight pipes… everybody is looking but nobody approaches. Glad you are enjoying your Vit!

Thank you for the review! Just got Svart as I like some occasional offroad so agree with you in many points. Noticed 2 things in your review: - exhaust sounds great - I see header with decat, but can you give more info on your setup? - your helmet is super quiet, no wind noise at all - which model was that? 😂

Great! You will enjoy that Svart immensely. Svart is a great all around motorcycle for the occasional off-roader. The header is a Coober. Then has a stock resonator and no muffler. It actually sounds a little better on camera, in person it’s a bit raspy. Any other questions please let me know.

11:21 says the one who has a straight piped Ducati, Lol. In all seriousness tho, this bike is really gorgeous in it's own way, and love it or hate it does attract a lot of attention, especially with that raspy (but very deep sounding) exhaust. I really want to try one out. Great video! Keep the 401 videos coming!

Haha, you got me there. 😂. It’s a little bit different type of attention between both bikes. Ducati gets attention but not like the Vitpilen. I also notice the demographic is a lot different as well. Pretty much kids and dudes that approach me when on the Ducati. The Vitpilen, it’s everyone that approaches me, even people who know nothing about motorcycles. Thanks for the positive feedback and thanks so much for watching! Cheers.

By the way, did you get around doing that gearing change on the bike? (You mentioned it in an earlier video on the mods that where donde to this bike) I'm really curious if it would make a huge difference to keep the revs a little lower on the highway with the tune + dropping a tooth or two on the rear sprocket. It would really be a factor decider to get this bike (i unfortunately do 10-15 miles with a speed of 70mph on the highway every day)
@ridewithKY
@ridewithKY Жыл бұрын
I’m currently running a 16T at the front sprocket and a stock rear. For cruising on the highway it’s a perfect gear in my opinion. 70 mph I am only spinning about 800-1000 rpm lower than the stock gear. Just an FYI, changing to a 16T front sprocket doesn’t require to get a longer chain either. The stock chain is just long enough to work with a 16T front. If I wanted to maximize performance I would probably keep the 16t front sprocket and go down one in the rear. At the moment with the power and weight of the bike, I run out of power before running out of gear.
@blondleone
@blondleone Жыл бұрын
Amazing! I was thinking on doing a tooth less on the rear and leave the front stock, seems like a good compromise for highway speed without overworking the engine. You mention it running out of power before running out of gear, how did the tune impact the ride quality/acceleration capability?
@ridewithKY
@ridewithKY Жыл бұрын
I would say that’s a great approach and probably the best compromise (making a change by 1 at the rear and keeping the stock front sprocket). For highway use these bikes are geared too short from factory IMO. 80mph you’ll be touching 8000rpm with the stock gear. The tune helps a lot. These bikes, mostly because of the euro 5 garbage don’t run that good from the factory. That’s why you see a lot of owners complaining of random stalling and experience uneven power delivery with the factory tune. Once you get a tune, it’s a whole different bike. I’m sure it picks up some power too, but just the fact that it runs way smoother makes it worth it. I think it’s a necessary addition to these bikes.

Haha! Well, always think about drastic decisions like that before you actually do it. Don’t rush into anything. You won’t regret it, if you’ve watched some of my other videos you see that YES there are some reasons to not buy a Vit/Svart, but there’s a lot of reasons to buy one as well. I don’t regret my purchase at all despite some of the shortcomings. They are NOT perfect that’s for sure.

Hei man, great content! I'm about to get my driving licence (A2) at 25 yo, and my choice will be between this and the duke 390. As you say the look is just awesome, my only little concern is about the riding position actually. Compared to the duke you lean much more forward so more weight is on the wrists, what do you think about it? I might be using it to go to work (up to 1-1.5h in highway) so i consider the ergonomic of riding too.. while for free time rides it's perfect (I live near twisty mountain roads) as the duke Salute from Italy, keep up! 💪💪
@ridewithKY
@ridewithKY Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the positive feedback. The Duke 390 is definitely a more comfortable seating position. The seat is lower on the Duke as well, so if you are worried about flat footing with both feet then the Duke 390 is a better choice. The Vitpilen’s have a really high seat, they are about 33” tall which is even higher than most super sport bikes. I have taken my Vitpilen on a few 40-80 mile stints and I was ok. Seating position didn’t bother me, but I’m also not doing that every day. If you are commuting everyday for 1-1.5 hours then the Duke 390 or Svartpilen might be a better choice. Svartpilen has the same seat height but it has handlebars instead of clip ons. I think the handlebars on the Svartpilen takes away from the overall aesthetic though. I know Italians know a little something about style and aesthetic so I probably don’t need to tell you that. Thanks so much for watching, if you have any other questions please reach back out.

@@ridewithKY The seat height is something I haven’t considered yet because I think when it’s going to be shopping time, I’ll try out myself. I agree 100% with you on the aesthetics of the Svartpilen, it’s like the Vit but modded up to a weird look imo. The classy look of the Vit is unbeatable, but ergonomic issues might be relevant in my choice.. I’ll let you know my choice in the future! Thank you so much for your kind answer 🤙🏻
@ridewithKY
@ridewithKY Жыл бұрын
I agree with you. A lot is lost aesthetically with the Svart because of the handlebars, knobby tires, and the color scheme. The lines disappear because of the matte black livery. Seat height is not a huge deal but it’s something of note. Some people are just not comfortable unless they have both feet down, which I understand. It’s hard to be confident when you can’t reach the ground fully. With a 33” seat height, you’ve got to have a pretty tall inseam to confidently touch the ground. Happy shopping, please ask if you have any further questions. Would be happy to offer any knowledge I have to help with your purchasing decision. However, Duke 390, Svart, or Vit, you’ll be happy with any of those in my opinion. Thanks again for watching and reaching out!

Certain year svartpilens had black 401 plates. You’ll have to figure out which years and contact your local dealer. I think it’s 2022 and newer did but you need to confirm that before ordering.

It’s a Coober header. You can either get it directly from them or you can try to find it from a third part retailer. Getting directly from Coober would probably be easiest.

If you don’t mind sharing, what are they asking for it? If you’ve got the time I would try to watch some of my other videos covering the issues these bikes tend to have before making your decision. Most of the issues are not catastrophic but are certainly there and should be considered before making a purchase.
