VVD should be kept at all costs. The man is a legendary player.

He played 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 at Real Sociedad B, not really anything that suggests he is set on one specific formation, but rather able to build from what the squad indicates. Would be wild for him to go to a club with such an ingrained way of playing, players signed specifically for the system, and then changing it up.

VVD plays a back 3 when Trent goes inverted. Mo does come inside.Not as much this season but it's not unusual for him. Diaz cuts inside as well. Alonso plays a passing game similar to City. LFC are more reliant on pace with Nunez. Jota can play along the front line as well. Under Alonso we build and play with more patience but the Anfield crowd are used to bulldozing high tempo play.Mentality monsters with the KOP sucking the ball in. They might not take to Alonso's chess like play.

As things are now liverpool basically play as a 3-4-3 or 3-4-1-2 when they are in possession and Trent steps into midfield. But they revert back to a 4-3-3 while defending, so there wouldn't be much changing required if Alonso came in after klopp.

I can see xavi taking over and slowly transitioning how he sees fit. To get rid of world class players would be an asisine idea imo.

You build the formation round the players you have and not the other way around.. you don’t just come into a club and totally change there formation that don’t suit the players you have.. his very lucky that klopp has left him some very versatile players anyway who can play in deferent ways.. the one thing he should not change is how LFC press as a team.. this is the premier league and Not the German league., the premier league is much faster and aggressive so LFC have to press aggressively and move the ball fast.. this has worked for lfc even when there playing bad they get results by pressing aggressively, strangling teams when they’ve got the ball, rock and roll football., the down side of rock and roll football in the amount of injury’s and burn out for players.. you can only do this if you have a big enough squad.. so it can help if lfc can retain the ball better, but we all kno it’s not just about retaining the ball, it’s more about what you do with the ball.. it’s Ni good trying to get them to keep the ball if there not doing nothing decisive with it. It all about finding the right balance with the players and the skill sets they have.

Trent, Salah, and particularly Diaz don't easily fit the current Leverkusen setup. They will adapt as will Alonso.

We don't need to sell anyone, everyone fits the mould of players alonso needs, Gomez's performances at LB this season has shown he'll be perfect for the LCB role. With Matip most likely leaving anyway we do need at least 1 more CB next season, or 2 if Sepp Van den Berg doesn't make it, i really hope he does though. As for incoming, apart from 2 CB's ( one being Sepp hopefully) we do need a back up to Bradley as i agree Trent is better in mid

If we signed van der ven from spurs he can fit the left centre back position and trent and robbo can play as wing backs . And a salah , diaz, elliot and endo would probably affected with this new formation if xabi Alonso join us

Manager's from Germany are alway's Liverpool's bettet choice imo, Alonso would be exeptional choice but i believe he will stay in Germany, tho i wish hed come to Liverpool and have thw stadium chanting his name, and he could help some of the team with his immaculate crosse's he did in his career

I think Hincapie would be above Ignacio. Also think he would like to bring Wirtz, Frimpong, Grimaldo. Obviously it's hard to see him getting everything he wants but those are crucial pieces for his play. I don't think Robertson could do what Grimaldo does. Mac Allister can probably do what Wirtz does though.

To be honest the best managers can adapt to the teams and the leagues the join just look at pep while a few of his core principles remain throughout all of his management jobs his Bayern city and Barca team all play slightly differently to each other. Xabi at Liverpool will be similar to how Liverpool play now just with a few tweaks in my opinion .

This video creates a huge assumption that Salah cannot play as a #10. His ability to make key passes has improved noticeably over the years which is reflected by his excellent assists stats. As he ages he has compensated for his slowing down by taking up better positions between the lines to feed the faster Nunez who loves to run behind defences. VVD in the middle of a 3 has to do less running and can add another 2 years on his LFC career just like Thiago Silva who played at a high level until Chelsea moved to a back 4. The Alosno system has one problem which doesnt suit LFC's current personnel. They dont have a left sided centre back, not enough top class no 6s to have a system that uses 2 no 6s. LFC have stock piled No8s and it is those guys that would suffer because the likes of Gravenberch probably do not score enough to play in the advanced two No10 positions behind Nunez/Jota. Unlike Macillister, Bacejtic and even Curtis they are not adaptable enough to be one of the two No6s. Ironically Harvey and Fabio Carvalho may thrive in this system (but would need to get their goal contribution stats up)

Liverpool have a back 4 in name alone. Trent is essentially an attacking midfielder and the #6 covers any gap.

TAA will thrive if he is in the wing back position. Squad depth with Bradley. Robbo's productivity has waned with age and I would get Balde from Barca in the left wing back role. His pace is something else. I would also bring Tyler Morton back from loan and get Varela to add depth to the double pivot roles and then get Inacio for the left centre back role

I don’t think that he will play in that system because the 343 fits leverkusen well because they have the players to do it but i personally think that he will not do that at Liverpool and that he will just continue to play a 433 with vvd and salah otherwise I don’t want him to join Liverpool

He won't play 3 at the back. He doesn't have a Van Dijk or even a Konate at Leverkusen. He doesn't even have a versatile defender in Joe Gomez. A 3 at the back would require at least 5-6 full defenders for rotation.

Jota is injury prone, it would be wise to sell and buy young and versatile attacking player.

Keep Klopp. Just give him a 6/7 month holiday away from Anfield & just as he No2 to take charge for those 6/7 months.

If the wonderful ex-LFC player, Xabi Alonso, can't make good use of either VVD or Salah, I hate to say it, but he's not the man for us. They're two of the best players I've seen in my 40 years as an LFC fan, so why would any manager even think about getting rid of either player at this point in their careers?
