However, the biggest problem with books - is a slow input method. I can download a book to a reader in seconds and then need a few days or weeks to read it, then process it in the background "mode". Some kind of a brain interface which can download information for processing will accelerate humanity x1000 into the future. And what we have achieved in the last 2,018 years will accelerate into 2,018,000 years of knowledge (best case scenario).

I'd recomend you to read a book by Terence Mckenna "Food of the Gods". There he tells us that cognitive revolution could happen becouse of taking psychodelics as a suplement to enhance our sensations that could help to hunt and to get unity between members of tribe. So that helped us to survive and caused appearing of the art and culture. Also there he observes influence on our live by such regular things as sugar, caffeine, alcohol, television.

@@stachowi Yeah, he said in a video on how he reads books that he doesn't try to read in tiny spurts here and there, but carves out an hour so he can focus and do sustained reading. Seems to work...

The wealthy of any country tend to read more books on average than the average citizenry. They build up the habit, especially on topics important to their businesses as they need to keep on top of trends and understanding the underlying changes in their market. This is also reflected in political life too. I recall one Conservative pundit who was invited to speak privately in the Obama white house mentioning in his article on his talk with the President that Obama spent 4 hours every night before bed reading on political trends to make sure that he was keeping up with important policy changes in the US Congress, across the US, and the trends happening internationally. This was throughout his entire presidency.

I personally find Mr gates recommendations more relatable, now that i have read his previous recommendations. And now that most of these books I have been reading before his recommendations makes me realize our tastes are really very related and varied . Thanks Bill. We have read all these 5 books that you suggested and loved them all. Although while reading "Bad blood", we couldn't help notice how easily she got away with lies after lies for a prolonged period of time (10+years). The other point bothering us with "Bad blood" was lack of check of even the basic documents by the investing companies. Reports such as the due diligence reports, audited financial statements, auditors certificate on valuation are all a norm when we do valuation of startups before the PEs invest in them. We are surprised that such big PE and Venture capitalists didn't bother to check these documents just because of the fear of "missing out". We'd only add two more books to the list Mariana Mazzucato's The Value of Everything and Give People Money by Annie Lowrey. And lastly, this video must have cost more than what we've made in 10 years in our service. Happy Holidays :-)
