Glad to here it, was received into the Church almost 25 years ago. Know what you mean about the Mass. My first experience sealed the deal even though I didn't understand what it was all about, sitting way in the back of course. Have no regrets on coming home.

I would ask many questions, accepting that which is not biblical is a giant step! One of the main teachings in the catholic church is that Mary remained a virgin her whole life. Read Matthew 1:25 and Matthew 12:46 and Matthew 13:55-56. They claim Mary is in heaven but can offer no scripture telling us that Mary was taken up and isn't asleep in Christ awaiting the Book of Life. Jesus was asked who is the greatest, He said that John The Baptist was the greatest of those born of man, not Mary! After agreeing to be the mother of Jesus it isn't recorded that God ever spoke to her again and all interaction went thru Joseph. There is but ONE Mediator between us and God, Christ Jesus! The church teaches you to pray to Mary, to the saints... They will not be able to provide scripture telling us that Mary remained a virgin her whole life... They claim they wrote the Bible but seldom follow scripture. Their practices will draw you in, but the eye is easy to be deceived. When Jesus was asked how should we pray, He said, "Our Father..who art in heaven", He didn't say run to the church, slip into a box, whisper your deepest darkest secrets to a sinner, and that sinner will forgive you your sins against God "! He told us to pray directly to God for forgiveness, "forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us"! They claim that Peter was told by Jesus in Matthew 16:18 that he would be the rock that Jesus would build His church on! They accept Jesus saying, "Peter, upon "this" rock I will build My Church", as Him telling Peter I will build My Church upon your rock. They fail to mention that only once in recorded scripture had Jesus ever called an apostle"Satan" and that happens in verse 23 when Jesus calls Peter, "Satan"! Would Jesus build His church upon "Satan"? Peter denied Jesus three times and later after Jesus was resurrected He restored Peter by asking him three questions. Remember, Peter, tend my flock"? Peter said yes to the three questions, deny Me three times and I restored you three times! It didn't last long because later the Apostle Paul chastized him for his false teachings! Peter was an apostle on a rollercoaster. Everytime he was lifted up, he would find a way to fall. Even in his own writings he never once referred to himself as the rock. Called Jesus the Rock, the Cornerstone! Peter never once mentioned the catholic church, being their first Pope! I completely understand that the pageantry of the church is alluring, it's supposed to be, but it's not built upon scripture!

They claim apostolic succession and the ability to forgive sins but the Apostles had more abilities than to just forgive sin. They were also able to heal the sick and raise the dead. Why is it the catholic church can only do the one that requires no physical proof?

@@glennherron9499 The teachings of the Catholic church are the same as the first church. They were accepted by all Christian churches. There are 23 in the Latin Rite and the Orthodox churches. The deviation comes when certain groups rebelled and interpreted Scripture to mean whatever they want it to mean. So not only do Protestants not all believe the way you do, those differences in belief are over even doctrine. The Scriptures are not so clear in the eyes of those who defend ideology. How much do you believe God tolerates division?

read Isaiah 46;6 and dont be deceived. Rosary praying is never mentioned in The Bible.

@@josesolis1875 I am amazed at how many don't take the teachings and doctrines of the catholic church and compare them to scripture. Most lack any biblical support and some even go directly against scripture.

No books for you? Not even the Bible? God closed every door for you? What groups did you join? Tell me about your Sunday school group? What volunteer work did you do? If you have no standard, how do you know what you are teaching is from God? How do you know your lack of involvement wasn't what kept you from "feeling" you belonged? Maybe the seed planted was from the Holy Spirit telling you to read your Bible, to know God's Word, to apply it to your life? It would be the same in other protestant churches? That's funny considering one of the arguments against the protestant church is that there are so many denominations. In a vast majority the difference isn't in biblical teachings but in how they worship. Some have an older congregation so they cling to the old classics that they sing, other churches with a younger congregation may sing more recent songs of worship. I challenge you to measure any teaching from any church with scripture! I can list numerous teachings of the catholic church that go directly against scripture. But, if you want to just feel good and have no issues with what you are taught, as long as you continue to feel, than I say continue on whatever path you want. You might feel good in this life, on occasion, but if you deny the God and Savior of the Bible than you might not feel good where that leads you! Freedom to choose... sometimes we don't "feel good" but we are saved. Sometimes we feel alone, but we never are!

@@johndonato3638 Hi, first, thank you for the way you approached me. It was very kind! I would like to explain before I get into this that I believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God. That in those moments that a question isn't answered in scripture doesn't always mean the question doesn't have an answer it's just not answered, and it's not required for our salvation. When an answer is found outside of scripture that answer or teaching shouldn't be placed above scripture but that it is a way that someone is trying to help you understand it better! Much of what I will reply with may seem trivial but accumulative it is damaging! When asked how we should pray Jesus began, "Our Father....", at no time did Jesus pray to anyone other than God. At no time did He direct us to pray to another human, dead or alive! To take your eyes off of God to pray to someone else...you shall have no other God's before Me! In the same Lord's Prayer He tells us to pray directly to God... Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us! He at no time told us to go to the "church", enter into a booth, share your darkest secrets with a sinner, and that sinner will forgive you your sins that you committed against God! Jesus siad there is but one Father... Yet the catholic church would have you call their Priests, "Father"! We all have a mom and dad, mother or father.. but in all matters spiritually, we have one Father, the sinner you call Father is not God! The catholic church claims apostolic succession and the ability to forgive sins! Yet, the Apostles had more abilities, or authority than just to forgive sins! They also healed the sick, raised the dead! The catholic church claims only the one that requires no physical proof! Mary, the mother of Jesus! It isn't enough that we honor her for her role. The catholic church teaches that she remained a virgin her whole life. Why? Despite not having a single verse to tell us this the church denies half a dozen that say otherwise! Mary lay her firstborn.. In Matthew 1:26 .. Joseph waited until Mary had Jesus before he knew her, ie had relations with her! Matthew 12:46, Jesus is told His mother and brothers are outside, He replied by looking at the believers in front of Him and said, "Here are my mother and brothers"! In Matthew 13:55-56 we are not just told He has siblings but they list the names of His brothers and mention His sisters! In Galatians 1:19 we are told that the only apostle seen was James, Jesus's brother, who was mentioned earlier in Matthew 13:55-56! I think Mark 6:3 tells of the Matthew 13:55-56 events as well. No verse tells us that Mary is in heaven and isn't asleep in Christ awaiting the Book of Life. Scripture is clear when someone is taken to heaven, no verse tells us that! Is she in heaven, could be, but we don't have scripture to support it. If she is in heaven wouldn't it be a better way to honor her by just leaving her alone to enjoy paradise? Is she omnipresent? How can she hear millions of prayers every day? Every minute? Then run to God to relay... Weren't we taught to pray directly to God? When Jesus was asked who was the greatest, He said John The Baptist! Why aren't we praying to John? Mary was selected because of her lineage, not because of who she was. Jesus had to come thru David... Mary, were she not in that lineage would never have been selected to be the mother of Jesus! The catholic church teaches that the first Pope was Peter, that Jesus returned and began the catholic church! "This".. what does it mean? Does "this" mean "you"? Does it mean "Me"? Upon THIS rock I will build My church! Because Peter means rock it is obvious that Jesus is saying, "Upon this (you) rock I will build my church"! OR.. The Rock says to the rock upon THIS Rock I will build my church! Peter was a flawed apostle! Five verses later Jesus calls Peter, "Satan"! Would Jesus build His church upon Satan? Peter later denied Jesus three times and when Jesus was resurrected He asked Peter three questions, one for each denial! He restored Peter, releasing the guilt that he carried... Peter, will you tend to My flock? Notice, He said "My"... This was all shortlived because later the Apostle Paul chastized him for his false teachings! In all of Peter's writings he never once referred to himself as the rock, but called Jesus the Rock, the Cornerstone! In no writings of his did he ever mention the catholic church! Peter was a flawed apostle but I really do like his books! The eucharist, other faiths may call it the Lord's Supper! The catholic church teaches that it must be given by the church, the Priest, for example! That when the Priest inserts it into the mouth it transforms into actual blood and flesh, yet it still taste like the wafer and juice! Flesh is rubbery, blood coats your mouth... This doesn't happen and it was explained that it transforms on a spiritual level! Oh, another one of those, no physical proof required! I can go on but my brain is on drain! The catholic church finds those questions and inserts itself. It comes between you and God! Want to leave the church? If you do, no more eucharist.. you will be eternally separated from God! Other churches during the Lord's Supper read the scripture,.... Do this in remembrance of Me... Anyway, that is part of the reason! The catholic church claims to have written the Bible and yet won't teach what's in it! Is the Bible the infallible Word of God or is the catholic church? Only one can be since they have different teachings... If it isn't the infallible Word of God why did the catholic church give us a Bible filled with errors?

@@johndonato3638 One other thing, when Jesus was talking to the woman at the well He told her a day will soon come that you will no longer go to Jerusalem to worship! Basically saying a day will come when you won't have a centralized place that you have to go too! He never said a kind word about the present day church, He admonished it at every turn! He knew as the Apostles and Disciples criss crossed the regions that hundreds, even thousands of Christian churches would be created! Somewhere along the way someone created a church and demanded all others submit, join it! Christian churches existed long before Catholic Churches and have existed since! Catholics love to label anyone who doesn't agree with them as "Protestant"! What is a protestant, someone who protests? That's what happened with the big split in the Catholic Church, many saw the direction the church was going and they couldn't follow! Those who split either joined the Christian churches or began their own! The catholic church shouts that there are thousands of protestant denominations! Well, there are thousands of different churches, just like in the beginning! No centralized power! They won't go thru each denomination and show you in scripture where they are wrong! Just that there are so many, catholicism is a denomination... But my question is, "If I believe that the Bible that the catholic church claims to have written is the infallible Word of God, how am I protesting? How am I a protestant?". Shouldn't we all stand against teachings that are not Scriptural?

So true and after the catholic church claims to have written the Bible it's shocking to see they don't even hold to what's written in it! In many cases they even teach contrary to it!

@@josesolis1875 I would recommend you reading the book by Brant Pitre “The Jewish Roots of Mary”. I would also try to understand from the standpoint of what the Catholics teach rather than one verse in the Bible from what your Pastor told you. Also read the writings of the early church fathers - those who actually followed the Apostles. And think about this what is the most hated Christian religion that Jesus warned us about? That would be the church - the Universal “Catholic” and Apostolic. You don’t see anyone hating on all the 30,000 different denominations. The Catholic Church is the church Christ founded on the rock with Peter. There is a succession of every Pope back to Peter. As well as all Bishops - a succession from the Apostles to a Bishop today. No other religion has the true teachings but the Catholic Church. Been down that road my friend. I was a Protestant but it was Our Blessed Mother and yours too that called me to be Catholic. @@paulsmallwood1484 Catholics are not sheep. They’re persecuted far more often than any other Christian denomination and a solid Catholic researches and learns continuously. Satan has planted divisions in the Church of God started with the great schism of 1054. Before that all Christians were Catholic Christians and practiced and taught nearly all of what modern Catholicism does.

I would recommend reading of the early Church Fathers. Their writings leave no doubt to the centrality of the Eucharist, as does Scripture. Ditto for point c.

I would also recommend “Rome Sweet Home,” by Dr. Scott Hahn. As a highly-educated, former evangelical Protestant minister, and about as anti-Catholic as you could get, he set out on a study to prove once and for all that the Catholic Church was wrong and Martin Luther was right. After all of his research, he ended up joining the Catholic Church. Dr. Hahn can explain much more clearly about the correctness of the Catholic Church than I can. I did a great deal of research myself and converted to Catholicism at age 60. But, I went down kicking and screaming-that poor priest who taught the RCIA class I attended, “just for information only”….😄

@@Jen-CelticWarrior I am very familiar with Dr. Hahn. I question the notion that he was a raging anti-Catholic. I will say that he has made a nice living peddling every conceivable mischaracterization of Protestantism. I am not trying to make anyone leave Roman Catholicism just presenting the Protestant perspective. Blessings!

@@paulsmallwood1484 , Scott Hahn was very anti-Catholic, and he said so in his book. 😉 That was why he militantly decided to try to prove once and for all that Catholicism was wrong. But…it didn’t work out that way. The problem I personally encountered, was that it seemed that most Protestants learned about Catholicism from other Protestants. That’s why I took the RCIA class. I guess it’s rather like doing our homework and getting our “milk and meat,” as the Apostle Paul would say. We all need to keep learning. It’s a continuing journey, hey? I wish you well on yours! 💜

@@Jen-CelticWarrior I have taken the RCIA class on line. I have read Roman Catholic theologians and historians. I am not on a campaign to prove Roman Catholicism is wrong. Obviously I don’t agree with everything it teaches and that is why I am still Protestant but bashing Roman Catholicism is not my thing. I simply want Protestantism and church history accurately portrayed. I have been blessed with highly educated pastors.
