What you said is completely correct. What you imagine in your home country is one thing, and what you see and experience is quite another. I wish people from abroad will find what Japan really is, and enjoy various aspects of our culture and nature. Besides Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, there are countless places I want you to visit and also many places I have never been to and want to visit someday. It is fun just to plan a trip in rural areas of Japan with a couple of guidebooks.

Thank you for your comment. There are so many places in Japan that I would love to visit! I think it's very common for tourists to only want to go to major cities, that's what I did when I first visited Japan. I'm so grateful that I've had the chance to see more rural areas too. I hope more people take the opportunity to do that. ✨
I absolutely agree that Tokyo is the most expensive city in Japan, everywhere such as food, housing, entertainment are have an expensive pricing, it's hard to afford but a great place to live.💖 Then, I have tried not to eat too much fried food, in order to have a balanced appetite/diet, they are delicate to try. Not an anime fan, but love to collect figures, CDs, DVDs, as well as the kawai quality/term.🌟
I am a Japanese. You are a best English teacher for me. Thank you!

If you want to know more about Japan, I recommend living in a city in a prefecture near Tokyo instead of Tokyo. Yes, a commuter town in Tokyo. You should choose a place where you can use public transportation for about an hour to Tokyo. It has a calmer culture and environment than Tokyo.
I watched the video with great interest. It is true that prices in Japan were high. Unlike other countries, in recent decades Japan has not risen due to severe deflation.
Indeed, cost of living in Tokyo was said to be the highest in the world. Currently, there are two reasons why prices in Tokyo seem cheap. One is the depreciation of the yen. The other is the effect of deflation.

I’m sorry if it doesn’t bother you, but I was wondering if you explore the cities/towns of Japan because it’s marvellous to watch something new from the past videos format 😆

Thank you for your comment. I will consider your idea ☺️✨
20years ago when I was in NZ I got asked if we Japanese eat Sushi everyday and how we transport fish or if everything's robotaized or if there's still Ninjas and all that crap. amazing.

The things you mention are important but when I visit a country I like to interact with the people and we in America have only the stereotypical concepts to go by. I've spent alot of time traveling around the world and I enjoy and get along with many diverse cultures and people. I subscribe to a number of Japanese KZfaq channels that let you see a number of sides of Japanese people. If I visit Japan in the near future I want to go to Kyoto and fulfill one of my bucket list items and watch a live performance of the Kyoto Tachibana High School band. It is one of those things that let you see a side of Japan that few outsiders get to enjoy!

When I was a student in Canterbury, Kent about a couple of decades ago, things in London were way more cheaper than in Tokyo. Nowadays, it is completely opposite. However, I shall say travel fare are always remarkably cheaper in the UK, for example only GBP9 from Canterbury to London by coach while it could not be less than JPY5,000 by train if you are traveling similar distance in Japan. That is presumably the reason for tourists having an image of expensive city as they use transports like Shinkansen a lot?

I'm 89 yrs. It's so veryveryvery interesting charming story for Japanese people . I suppose your prejudice is near perfect talking ! yes!
Tokyo was the most expensive city 20 years ago, this is absolutely true. However, prices haven't changed in 20 years, so maybe people think it's expensive because of the image they had when they were small.

The most delicious Okonomiyaki shop is Uroko near Sakasegawa station in Takarazuka city. I am 58 years old and have been eating it more than a half century. Also have a lot of experience of eating okonomiyaki at various places. In my life, Uroko is the best in Japan even though.

I think contemporary people's image for other countries is established mainly by the media. 70 yrs ago your image could be Fujiyama, Geisha, Harakiri or Kamikaze. Reality is so difficult to understand that we see what we want to see, don't we? Otherwise when I visited to Penny Lane in Liverpool, local people said hello to me like the song. It's miracle!
I guess it might be because of the Thatcher era? UK economy was enjoying negative growth, over 3 million people were unemployed whilst Tokyo's land price was equal to the land price of entire USA. That time Japanese company provided 5000 yen bentos to its employees.
You are again shining pretty since I first saw you on KZfaq , that’s what I found today. And if you concern about Japanese tasty foods relate to their calorie problem, get used to Himono fishes then. They are much, I mean much healthier and a lot better combination with other Japanese delicacies and other all time standards. I think not many foreigners haven’t found bottomless Himono swamp yet, you could be the first famous one knows Himono better than Japanese.
I guess the "Tokyo is expensive" concept just comes from the old days when Tokyo actually was expensive. Japan has been suffering deflation for decades now, so all the other countries just overtook Tokyo at some point. Which is good as a tourist because you get to enjoy the awesome food at reasonable prices!
Hello, It is also fun to visit famous festivals in each prefecture. I think many of them are not being held now due to the coronavirus. The above English text was translated using the Google Translate function. Please forgive me if there are any mistranslations or rude documents.

It was true that you thought price level in Tokyo is quite expensive you had in younger days, about in 2000 it could have been rather expensive even in all over the world than now, but thorough these last 20years , economic power of Japan became lower than that in about 2000, it will be the reason why you had that image.

I think your image Tokyo is expensive came from 70s high economic and 80s bubble period in Japan. But it's different situation now.
You said like “you should definitely go and see some other prefectures in Japan if you have time there”. So you can say the same thing in terms of UK? It means I have actually lived in London, but I’ve just been to Edinburgh and Brighton. I don’t really know other nice places to visit in UK. So, It would be great for me if you could tell me your recommendation.

I used to sing the Beatles like Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da♪ but watching anime not too much... Anyway my friend from New Zealand told me "I saw Ninja!" when she got to Narita airport because some Japanese are masks on before Covid19. I told her "No Ninja here now..." but she still say Ninja! Ninja!
It's true that we usually only know the capital city and two other major cities in other countries. I only know London, Birmingham, Liverpool, and Manchester when it comes to England. When it comes to Germany, I know Berlin, Frankfurt, Bonn, and Hamburg. Surprisingly, Italian cities other than Rome are also quite famous. As for France, I can only think of Paris.
I’ve been in London for 7 yrs and feel London is much much more expensive than Tokyo. Who wanna pay 12 pounds for hamburger at pub after you had 3 quid Mos burger… beer is good tho Good to mention Japanese local!
