Never heard of Caligula's Horse before this album. That was clearly a crime against prog and I sincerely apologize. But because I can listen to Charcoal Grace with completely fresh ears, here's five things I observed from listening to it as a virgin fan. Well made, ‪@caligulashorse‬.

Holy shit this is such a good review. The dad and drug store joke, the commentary about contrast (my favorite thing about them), and the edging joke. 10/10 would watch again

Charcoal Grace is by far one of my favourite albums right now. It's so deep conceptually, and also very rich musically. It's subtle, and in-your-face at the same time. The ideas and feelings it conveys are elusive, full of contrasts, like you said, and yet incredibly powerful. It's like a huge tidal wave of dark vulnerability, that flows into frustration, with moments of blind rage scattered here and there, but then ebbs again into a more delicate and fragile state. I'm still digesting everything even after 10+ full listens. Amazing record, and great review! Subscribed!

Everything these guys have released in the last decade has been incredible. I don't think I'd give anything from Bloom onwards less than a 9.5/10. In Contact would have to be in my top 5 albums of all time. Also, if you have the opportunity to see these guys live, do it. The are one of the cleanest live bands I've ever seen, which is insane considering how complex all their parts are. $50 is an absolute bargain to see these guys with Earthside.

Welcome to the party, pal... I sure hope you went and saw them. I've been a fan for nearly a decade, and I was heartbroken when the pandemic took away their first planned US tour. We got to the New York show, and it just wrecked us.

C-Horse is one of my favorite bands; I drove 7 hours just to see them in Chicago and was not disappointed, one of the best bands I've seen live in terms of performance quality and energy between the band and the audience. The setlist for this tour throws in a good mix of their previous stuff too, so if you wanted to get some more exposure to their earlier albums, this is a great way to hear some of that.

I'm really glad I stumbled across your channel in my algorithm. Your reviews do a great job of providing commentary on what makes the album special without spoiling the experience which allows your viewers to go on their own journey with the albums. The humor is well spaced and executed as well. Keep killing it dude!

I discovered this band many years ago while diving through a bandcamp rabbit hole. Their first album Moments from Ephemeral City has a really bright and colourful album art that pulled me in immediately. I loved the album a lot, it was my hidden gem for a long time - don't skip their debut just because of its infancy, that's the one piece of advice I feel like I need to share when it comes to this band Gotta say though...CG has been an insanely good album for me over the last few weeks, but I didn't expect anything else given how consistent their sound has been. They've always done this, and they don't stray too far from the band's identity for the sole reason of "doing something different". They can give an album its own identity, like how Tide is a solid package that stands on its own as a concept, but you know right off the bat that it's a CH album. Love this band to death, pains me to know I now have like 3 years before we have more stuff again

I love Caligula's Horse, found them about two years ago. My introduction was listening to Bloom and Marigold of the Album bloom. Those two songs...back to back are absolute magic.

i found this band back in 2019 from a guitar hero livestream actually, the streamer played 2 songs from in contact and i was immediately hooked. and when rise radiant came out a few months after that, it was even better. i've been looking forward to another album from them ever since then and charcoal grace did not disappoint. i'm seeing them live in nashville tomorrow and i could not be more excited
