People make mistakes, and sometimes mistakes that they make when they're very young keep them from doing things later in life.
I'm talking about criminal charges and felonies. As you probably know, in order to move abroad, get a residency or second citizenship you will need to present a clear background check. In case you can't present it, you will not be able to get a second passport, no matter how much money you have.
However, when it comes to getting a residency abroad there are still a few countries that might let you in without a background check. Some of these countries may require a background check for one type of visa, but not the other.
Here is the list:
1. Mexico
2. Chile
3. Colombia
4. Italy (only in specific cases)
5. Peru
Who are we and what do we do?
We are Offshore Citizen team. We help people become global: get a second passport, set up a second residency, pay less taxes, do banking abroad, etc.
We have lots of interesting articles on different topics, we have relevant information up to date.

Interesting video. I will add that there is a third reason you may not want to undergo a background check - it's simply impractical for you. I was in this exact situation because I needed a "certificate of no criminal conviction" to apply for a residence permit. Sounds simple enough, so I requested it from the two countries I had lived in recently. One of them was issued in 4 hours and the other one took 3 years.

Issued for Cyprus and Bulgaria they don't ask on an EU passport. BUT they do ask , when time comes for naturalisation...Oh forgot, Ukraine does not require and neither Greece, but for the last I ' m not sure about golden visa, they have many other categories which don' t get promoted because they are cheap...

In previous videos you've said that people working a job shouldn't be in low wage countries. And for the most part, I agree. However, many people interested in Financial Freedom/GeoArbitrage have skills which allow them to work remotely. And remote workers have the option to maintain high salaries (in countries like the US or Switzerland), but live in cheaper countries (like Bulgaria). This can drastically reduce the amount of time we need for Financial Freedom. For instance, I'm a Blockchain Programmer. I'm currently trying to figure out where to emigrate to, and whether I should remain an employee or start my own company. I think it would be a great idea for you to make a video dedicated to remote workers. Thanks!

Thank you for the content Michael, I appreciate the insight. I have a past felony on my record from 2010 and I'm retiring this year. These 3 countries interested me: Italy, Mexico and Colombia. If I were to move it would be fulltime and I purchase a home there and sell everything in the states. From your perceptive could I do that and get citizenship in any of these 3 countries without a background check?

I mean the biggest charge I had in my life is conditional discharge (probation office visit and few months medication) like a decade and half so a redeemed man but police have always milked ideas against me like a few things in report never charged with and stole from me (so could be under an investigation tag for life despite not claiming what they claimed before interview) so in the case of criminal record checks I do wonder if I can counter with defamation and slander case in an unbiased international court tbh. If I don't have to it saves the stress and discharges their nonsense.

Peru has a very interesting passport in terms of visa-free travel especially given the potential to get citizenship in just over two years. I mean very few places have visa-free travel to the EU, Russia, Thailand, & Morroco, but Peru does, & they even have potential access to China, Japan, Australia, & New Zealand via the APEC Business Traveler's Card, but definitely Australia via an e-visa that makes them fairly attractive. I also like how they make it easy for their overseas citizens to vote & be represented in their legislature. There is a lot to be said for their commitment to the democratic process. And everyone talks about EU citizenship & freedom of movement in the Shengen Zone, but no one talks about Mercosur as much & both Peruvian & Chilean citizenship potentially open up most of South America as a place to live & work through their freedom of movement regime.

They now require a background check and some lawyers stress an FBI background check that shows everything. It even shows charges several years ago unless they were expunged. you will be lucky just to get away with a state background check. getting a visa is a lot of hassle and Colombia is really not that great. it is pretty dangerous if you don't know how to have situational awareness you may not make it back. Many foreigners go there and get drugged and robbed. They lose thousands and some even lose their lives. if you are a sicko and like dirty cheap prostitutes then Colombia is your place.
