Accounting Basics Lesson 10. Join me in this episode of Accounting Basics for Beginners as we work through Five Debit Credit examples and solutions.
This episode of Accounting Stuff is a supplement to Accounting Basics for Beginners Lesson 2 - "Debits and Credits Easy Explanation" → • ACCOUNTING BASICS: Deb...
In this video, you can get in your Debit Credit practice by putting the skills you have learned to the test. Practice Questions have long been my favourite way to wrap my head around a topic, so I have put together 5 debit credit questions and solutions for us to work through together.
I'll show you how to solve these Debit Credit practice problems using "DEALER" which is a super handy way to remember the normal Debit and Credit accounts.
You can use this Debit Credit test to help reinforce your understanding of this topic which many people, understandably, tend to struggle with when introduced to Accounting. These five Debit Credit questions will make Accounting seem like a walk in the park. Don't forget to watch the video until the end because these Debit Credit examples get progressively more difficult!

I have been struggling for like 2.5 months doing accounting for the first time. I wanted to take it as an elective (i am a pure science bio/chem major) in college and I tell you. This guy is a lifesaver. After following the beginner's accounting playlist on your home page, I can logically track and understand what is happening. Thank you so much. I'm on the verge of crying tears of joy because the structure of your teaching this topic is perfect. And this is the first time I did accounting exercises and finally got all of them right. Thank you so much.

Im in a Fundamentals of Accounting online course right now, and the resources given have just done nothing to help me wrap my mind around these concepts. Because I'm used to my bank account being credited when I add money and debited when I use money...I don't know...I just simply have everything backward in my mind. But slowly over watching your videos I have begun to make some order of it and this video went a LONG way in that direction for me. Walking through example questions and explaining the thought process is exactly what I needed. Thank you!!!

Very helpful exercises! An equivalent way I found to get the solutions is to recall crediting an account always means extracting money (value) from it, and debiting always means putting money in it, regardless of the type of account. For example, in exercise "The carwash pays a supplier $200 in cash. Which account is debited?" it can be translated to "[...]. Which account is receiving money?", and this is clearly accounts payable; whether the account increases or decreases with the debit is an independent story (of course checking that helps to reason the situation wholly).

Very helpful. I’ve taken numerous classes/courses up to and including accounting for my MBA. I always always struggle with math. My father used to beat me because he had an accountant’s mind. I went on to become a doctor (retired now) because the profession required no math excellence on my part and I could hire professional accountants for their skills. I’m watching your series to ‘try’ to prove to myself that I can learn with the right guidance and teaching. Many thanks. Lamont C.

New student. Joined today. Chose you for my instructor because your method works for me. To better retain the lesson I pause frequently to take notes. Quiz questions at the end of a module help me as well. I look forward to becoming competent enough to reconcile insurances for a company I am currently only competent enough to perform bank and cc reconciliations for. We predominantly use Sage 100 Contractor and occasionally QuickBooks. They attempted to teach me how to reconcile the insurances, but having no background or formal training I just didn't quite get it and therefore my JEs were never quite right. We all gave up and my hours dwindled. I need the hours back, so here I am. Cheers.

You helped me a lot mate. I scored a whopping 87% of 100. That’s 25 questions correct out of 30. I wanna be like you some day. Changing the world but by bit!!! Your moving at a very fast pace though as you have the full knowledge and equipment much as the motives. I’m almost there. But I’m not gonna be focusing on business or accounting in particular. I’m into survival and business is one aspect of my current practice. I’m as well a student so I have a lot on my hands hence why I resorted to searching for detailed help on KZfaq. Cheers mate!

@1:34 In my mind, a Debit Account is one which is the donor / sending account. a Credit Account is one which is the beneficiary / receiving account. Debitting is the act of removing amounts from an account. Creditting is the act of adding amounts to an account. For example, when a utility company wants payment, they will Debit my bank account. When I am due a refund, they will Credit my bank account.

Generally, I'm not an accountant but this was relatively simple. Would be great to see more videos with more different questions when the level of complexity arises. Thanks for all your content

I assume you skipped the process of debiting accounts receivable after crediting revenue (question 4) in-order to make people actually think about the overall process when you confront them with question 5, well done. Really good instructional example to visualize the process of where money comes from and where it goes.

Your videos are very useful to me. Helps me understand better. I had trouble with question 3 and 4 and while watching I was wondering why you did not explain on question 4 why it was not Accounts Receivable. But I understood once I watched question 5. On question 3 I didn't understand why it would be accounts payable as in the question there is no mention of the car wash owing the supplier, I can't quite grasp that question.

This is such a clean analysis and clearly explains the logic and the process, i'm new to accounting and have been exposed to some convoluted explanations which seem to skip some steps or leave some crucial elements unexplained thus leaving one with a feeling "I hear but why?' Your videos leaves one feeeling 'Ok, now i understand'.
