There are team leaders and managers that really radiate a sense of calm and composure, even in stressful situations. They remain calm even under extreme pressure.
This kind of people can stay calm and composed during times when all others around them seem to lose their heads and become tangled up with their emotions.
How do they do it? How is it possible? How can you copy this behaviour?

Watching this right now because i'm stress about my work and it really affect my thinking and sometimes can't sleep after work because i'm still thinking about work work work, thinking to resign or not? 😔😢

Hi Kenneth, I believe there are times, when this can happen. If it is just a few days then I would not thinking about quitting my job. But if this is something which is ongoing for several weeks or even months, than you need to do something about it. You may try other options before you resign, like regular physical exercise, meditation or doing something different in your spare time, like a hobby. It helped me a lot to switch off when I started to learn playing the piano. I needed to concentrate to play the piano and that helped me to get into another mood and focus on something else instead of work. Hope that helps a little bit.

I wish these could help me, but as a teacher I sometimes get into stressful situations while teaching. In these situations I can't leave to go to the bathroom, I can't just breathe when someone figures they want to break the classroom rules. And for every time it happens I an really stressed because I don't know what is going to happen the next time I am in that class 😔 I am also scared I might not be able to answer the pupil's questions or act grown-up enough. I am also scared of not being prepared enough for every class. I wish I knew how to relax through these situations, and how not to be completely dead after work. After 5 days of work, all I can manage on a Saturday is lying on my couch watching netflix or playing a chill game (eg. The sims). I miss having energy and being able to sleep when I go to bed. I miss being a student. ❤

Well, I am not a school teacher, so I may not be the right person to help you with this. But generally speaking: What helps me in stressful situations is preparation. Most stressful situations are in a way similar and repat themself. Therefore, you can think of different scenarios how you will react in such stressful situations, e.g. how will you react if someone breaks the classoom rules? What options do you have? How will they react? What can you do then? Think it thru and "play" with the scenarios in your head. You may also ask other collegues how they would react. I am sure that some elder collegues have found ways how to deal with these situations.

@@BerndGeropp Thank you for the answer. According to my colleagues I do handle the situations in a good way, because I am strict, but empathise with the pupils. I act well in the classroom, but after, at my work desk or at home I break down because it feels horrible when there is drama in the classroom and I don't know how it will be next time. The teachers in my office says this doesn't get better and none gets used to it. 1 in my office in his 50's really struggle now, and another I think around 40 years old is so stressed I just recently tried to comfort her since she was crying. My sister is a teacher as well and been on sickleave a lot because of the emotional stress of being a teacher. There seems to be no real solutions for these situations. And it's 60+ hormonal teenagers I have to teach every week, I never know what's next. There's always something new. 10 days ago I was met with the message of telling my class that there had been an accident, 1 person in our class was badly hurt and in hospital, while in the other class next to ours a pupil died. It was a driving accident. I could not have imagined this. And I have no idea what will happen next. 😔 I miss having a laboratory job (as I had during my master thesis). I'm a biochemist and took my education to work in a lab with medicine's, but there was no jobs, so I became a teacher 2,5 months ago.

If you haven't already, consider working with a therapist. Learn about how it's not what happens, but how you respond. Learn strategies for looking at things differently and response options. Best wishes...
