I've become totally addicted to this channel. Adam seems like such a genuine guy, and he's so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Also I love how he doesn't shill anything, or shove anything in your face. That's why these videos are like a digital getaway. He just wants to talk about nature and that's it. Based.

Oysters are usually a plentiful winter mushroom and easy to ID. The great thing about winter oysters is that you don't have to worry so much about bugs. Thanks for a great video to help me get through the snow days!

Finally a true conformation that edible mushrooms actually are available in the middle of winter, thanks Adam for another great video, I've been wanting to go foraging but didn't think anything would be out there to harvest in January, looking forward to some warmer weather ! Lol

I found Jelly's and Turkey Tails today, wish I had known they were edible, I would have harvested some. Back to the woods tomorrow.

We have a lovely little (really it’s not so small) park area that the township has set up for school children to explore a lot. It’s open to everyone year round too. I’ve been practicing there and find quite a few mushrooms. It’s been really fun finding them and learning the different types. I’ve not been brave enough to eat them yet because I am so new but with your information I think I’ve gotten pretty good. Well fair anyway. Spore prints are essential I think for newbies like me especially. I wish I could tell you how much you’ve helped me and how grateful I am. I’d have to write ya a book! We have usually found oyster mushrooms very close to water, often on logs partially in a creek or just outside of a creek

I was outside rolling up hoses for the winter when a term you use, "gelatinous lump," struck my funny bone and I giggled to myself... right before I heard a crack and I realized **I** now had a gelatinous lump in my pocket in the form of an egg I'd collected but forgot to put away. heheh I was born in Johnstown and have family in the area of Somerset/Nantyglo (sp, I left when I was 3) and I enjoy seeing what mushrooms I might have grown up near in another life. :-) Thank you for doing this!

I find Oysters all 12 months here is a Chicago burb. This Jan and then in Feb I found them during thaws as well as last Dec. Interestingly, I've never found them in March!

Great video, thanks! Where I am in southeast PA, I see a lot more late fall "oysters" than true oysters in the winter. Sometimes they'll have a subtle, but beautiful iridescence on the cap, like hummingbird feathers. They are more bitter than the true oysters, but I find the flavor a bit more interesting.

Its going to be 50 on Friday and I'm very excited to go mushroom hunting, Ive had a lot of luck finding Late Fall Oysters, last found them on Christmas day frozen to a tree, they go great on buttered toast. Hope to find some more to put on pizza!!!!

What about winter chanterelles (yellow feet), hedgehogs, and candy caps? Near the coast here in Oregon, can still find the very last of golden chants, caulis, hedgehogs, winter chants, and candy caps. Cheers!

I just had a great meal of chanterelles and black trumpet mushrooms which is found by mistake or (fortune) how ever you may think. I cooked them up together in olive oil butter , garlic parsley and bacon... delicious. I transplanted both on my property that is inviting to both species... Hopefully next year I will find the produce. The Chanterelles already grow in an area in the back yard. Hoping for more production.

Finally! I ran into some wildly neon golden and orange (with pale periwinkle toward the bottom) almost translucent gelatinous frills that had the weirdest texture, and until now had no idea what they were! Immature amber jellyroll? I've looked at numerous websites and countless videos. Thanks! ( I love this channel. Your videos are a delight. )

I've never encountered wild Enoki but have had the cultivated variety and am shocked at how different the morphology is: cultivated enoki are very tall and slender with extremely long stalks and tiny caps and they are pure white....very tasty but need reasonably long cooking because the stalk tends to be a bit chewy in my opinion
