What's your favorite FAT ebike under $2k?

Appreciate the health update. Was about to ask. I have a chronic disease since teen years. I understand the challenges. You are taking the right approach. Do what you can. Just dont give up. The journey has definiteely been a humbling and character building experience for me.

My wife & I just picked up a Blackbird & an Aventon Aventure from you guys about a month ago. They are both amazing ebikes, and we are definitely enjoying them! So far, they both appear to be very high quality, but the Blackbird definitely wins on power, the torque sensor, and the brakes. Other components are likely better quality also, but those 3 just mentioned are definitely immediately noticeable when riding & comparing the two bikes. Overall, we love them both and the fat tires soak up a lot of the bumpy roads & trails around Nevada City CA. Super excited to continue testing them out, and we will plan to do a full review video soon!

I recently picked up 2 magicycle cruisers. definitely could be on the list. good prices, comes with a lot of extras for free. I especially like that i can adjust the pedal assist percentages to find levels that work for me and my wife. the Kepler was on too much of a back order and didn't want to wait.

I wanted a ebike 4 years ago and eat slept and dreamed of owning one. The least expensive then was around 5k. That ment never a option for a average guy like me. I stopped watching ebike videos for years but just stumbled across your channel and have to say well done. It's nice to see they are getting into a price point I could afford one day. Cant wait to try one out someday. Anyhow great job on the video and pray you continue to get well. Blessings.

You make a great point...these are E-BIKES, not e-motorcycles. They are meant to be pedaled. The cheap SIS and Tourney 14-28 (with freewheel) driveline add resistance to efficient operation (range) and lower life span. The SRAM 9-speed is worlds above. Also, so many videos about "throttle-only" 0-40 mph on e-bikes. Very few talk about (40 mph-0) stopping power. Your Dorado 4-piston Tecktro again nails it! Plus, having an adjustable stem means that the CABLES are the correct length from the factory. That can be an issue if swapped after delivery. The bike's COMPONENT specs matter, and will lead to long-term happy riders. I also predict that the 26x4 market will fall to $1499 by next season. Too many Direct-Sale vendors with the same overall cruiser bikes right now (All at $1999...???) trying to capture the U.S. Senior Boomer Market share. Mostly made in 3-4 Chinese factories with unique brand stickers applied over the same base-level components. Thanks for offering a higher-quality build choice!

Not an US based follower, but congrats on doing something better with Blackbird. Hopefully it'll lead to more manufacturers use cassettes, maybe better forks, and the option of torque sensing. And sure, the 24" fat tires should be more popular in my opinion.

Thank you for this video. I just told my husband that I want an ebike for my birthday and Christmas gift. I live in the mountains so large motor and big batteries are a must just to get up the hills I don’t need the speed that comes with this size and power. At age 58 , weight was a big concern I will be adding your bike to my list. I had the Ariel and electric picked out so far.

NOT going to lie. Even at $2500 MSRP I’d pick the area 13 bike over any of the others. I will forever kick myself for getting an Aventon over this bike. Granted that says a lot because I absolutely love my Aventon and wouldn’t ever say don’t buy it but considering the sale you are running especially I’d go with yours! Hope you start making a recovery again soon!

Spot on with the Kepler overview (we have two) and comparison of the BlackBird to the others. Kepler is focused on power, with basic components (Altus/Tourney w/ 7 speed freewheel, and a 52t / 11-34 freewheel). I swapped my chain ring to 38t, for ~28mph @ 90 RPM (which isn't horrible to spin to 31mph for me) and went Alivio with a thumb throttle replacing the twist. The Zoom fork and front hub, is definitely an area I do not like (loose bearings in a hub in 2022?). I was actually looking at your replacement fork recently which led me to this video.

You could add that the extra 4 wh of the Ariel adds about 3 - 4 pounds of the weight difference from your bike to the Ariel, but good, mostly impartial, evaluation. Your bike is more "bikey" than any of the fat tire behemoths available. Of far more importance is your health which hopefully and prayerfully will improve and bring you back all the way.

I love my Blackbird. 15 months and 4000 miles. That front suspension comes alive blasting downhill on rough rock and dirt. I want to get a Falcon next.
