Absolutely love your videos! I am not a dad yet, but similar age to you and looking to buy a used AM (most likely DB9) as well. I like your videos cause of all the details you provide, things that I too wonder! My biggest concern about getting an AM would be ground clearance. I am used to just driving wherever there’s a road and not having to worry about anything (I live in Japan and drive a “kei” car, so if there’s a road, it should fit😂). Would be great with a video where you test or share your experience regarding ground clearance 😁 Also would be nice with a luggage test video! Keep up the great work!

I used that slot for the toll cards/credit card in France earlier in the year. You don’t have a massive panic when you come to the end of a long toll road. The old key isn’t too bad and a lot cheaper to replace than the glass key. Sat nav screen is useless. Once you hollow that out and put a better panel in car play / android auto is great. I’ve got little corrosion bubbles everywhere too.
@dadcars
@dadcars Жыл бұрын
Those bubbles are very common, thought It be nice showing off mine for other owners to see 😅 that sounds like a logical use for the slot but still a strange thing. Some of my favourite Ferraris from around this generation have classic turn style keys so there is still a charm to them ☺️

Comfort is a personal thing, back in February this year I drove my 2009 vantage from Switzerland to England extremely comfortable. The satnav system I upgraded, I can strongly recommend going to Aston installations for the upgrade. The slot in the centre console in believe is for holding car park tickets. Squeaky brakes can be easily overcome by chamfering the front and back edge of the brake pads .
@dadcars

I do suspect it could just be my lower back. Ironic I was in a car pack with a ticket when I was complaining about that slot 😜

The slot!!! To keep your credit card handy on long drives for fuel, parking garage card, toll tickets etc.... The lower bumper on my 2011 is also noticeably off colour, no accidents or re-sprays, I'm convinced over the years the paint faded due to weather/sun exposure taking into account the bumper is not aluminum, maybe the paint reacts differently to the elements🤷‍♂️ Great videos, fun to watch you are a natural. Guess the slot in the console is for cards. In the current Volvo XC60 you have a similar void (horizontal in that case) My wife put her ID-card in it and it fell right trough. Only mono audio from one speaker on this one but great video (y) Can't say I disagree with any of the points but then they're vastly outweighed by the fact it's an Aston DB9, the prettiest and arguably best car they ever made. The sat nav, key and window/mirror controls are lifted straight from my C30. For what it's worth, I actually quite like the satnav. It looks old but it's pretty competent, you can have two zooms up at the same time, automatically calculate diversions, uses traffic data, search for almost anything, bring up all petrol stations of a certain brand etc etc etc. It's worth getting to know how to use it completely. It's just a shame the last update was 2017.

Thanks Callum, yes I had the same audio issue with the gran Turismo filming, I have now purchased a new cable for the Rode mics that will hopefully fix this issue, that interesting about the window controls 😅 I guessed they were from some something else! And good info on the sat nav unit! 👏

My 2010 Vantage has very similar seats, but I do work out and keep my back specifically quite strong. I've taken mine 1500+ miles on road trips multiple times without any pain whatsoever. Much more comfortable than my CRV which is a shitbox. My torso is also thinner than yours, which probably helps. So I do believe it is dependent on body type, weight, and strength. I'm definitely with you on #2 though, I keep my Bond gear inside where only a true 007 fan could spot it ;)

Little flaws like the creaks, brake TLC routine and Ford-Parts-Bin switches are what give a car character. No other DB9 with have the same niggles and wear in the same places that yours does. My 5 things would be: Satnav (screen was closed the day I bought the car and will remain closed), Misting up of the front light clusters (seemingly impossible to cure), Fuel Cap is often reluctant to open via switch (which is located in the most awkward place possible) and requires the emergency cable in the boot to be used (not a good look in the petrol station), Interior lights are useless (replace with LED's asap), very cramped rear seat area. The 5 things I love are: elegant looks, noise and smoothness of the 6.0 litre V12, the love other people have for the Aston Martin brand and the DB9, the technology behind the chassis (bonded and riveted aluminium and use of other light weight materials), the sound quality of the later Alpine stereo. I have loved the ownership experience and very much enjoy working on the car which is always a great way to bond with a vehicle. I think my DB9 is in the same colour as yours Grigo Titanio and I also have the Sports Pack fitted, so have the same wheels. I feel the colour really suits the DB9 allowing all those beautiful curves to be fully appreciated.

@paulshepherd8295
@paulshepherd8295 15 сағат бұрын
@visionist7 The fans are built into modified covers that go on the back of the headlights. You have to remove the access cover in the wheelarch liner so that you can swap the existing headlight rear cover with the new one. I bought the version with the additional thermostat that's mounted just behind the slam panel in the engine bay. This allows you to fine-tune it so that the fans continue running after you've switched off until the engine has cooled down to the preset temperature. It took a couple of hours to fit neatly (it's not difficult, and I managed to do it without even taking the wheels off) and the kit and instructions are excellent.

The DB11 ICE screen is all Mercedes, same as the steering column stalks so I am quite happy with that, but take a look on KZfaq, there is a company providing an upgrade that will give you Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the DB9, DBS and Vanquish, as well as the DB11 which did not have it up to 2019 and maybe still not. Mr JWW had that upgrade done on his DBS. Seats in the DB11 are also very comfortable imho and also auto slide forward when tipping the back-rest. Switch gear is also really nice. Hold my hand up on the valet key, though! 🙂 I think the slot is for a pen, so get yourself a Mont Blanc fountain pen to go with your glass ECU to put in that slot ;-) Or maybe it's for keeping coins in to throw in the toll basket? Agreed though, seldom don't get let out at junctions, usually get waved out with a massive thumbs up and I also get a lot of older folk coming up and saying, wow, what a beautiful, elegant car.
