and for the Gnocchi (doesn t add extra cost): after you have cut them in small pieces, as you did - you then use your hands to roll all these little pieces into round small balls (this will keep them FIRM and not dissolving later in the water or pan). Then slightly sprinkle a bit of flour on them so they are not too sticky, and now comes the part that turns them into Gnocchi shape: You take a normal kitchen fork and press the fork tines into/onto the ball, this will giive them shape. 😊

When my girls were little how I made lunch meat ( we were so dirt poor and my 2 minimum wage jobs kept roof over our heads but I had to get creative) I went to meat market and bought cow toung I scrubbed it good and made a hole from large end through tward tip, I then filled it with home made pico ( chopped onions, garlic, tomatos, jalapeños and celantro) sewed up the end to keep filling inside and boiled the toung till almost done then cooked it rest of way on grill. Sliced thin and it was lunch meat for a week. Back then I had to make meals to feed girls and myself because after rent, lights, car insurance, after school care we were lucky to have 30.00 till next biweekly paycheck, gas was a lot cheaper back then so I feel for families today struggling with food prices, rent, holy cow daycare! So hope this tip helps someone to think out of the box to help fill tummy

I dip them in a cinnamon-butter-brown sugar dip.Sweet potatoes are loaded with potassium, protein & fiber. Vitamin C Iron, Niacin, Magnesium, Calcium. After I boil my gnocchi I toss it in garlic butter and bake it for thirty minutes. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and toss with my favorite steamed veggies. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. The biscuit and veggie pot pie will be a great way to use up all the leftover turkey this weekend. Thanks for another great budget meal plan. I prefer granola to oatmeal so that is what I would do with the leftover oats.

You know my adopted great grand mother was from Italy, grand father was from Sicily. Yes there is a difference if you lived there back then😮. Well Gma Mary said if you put enough love in your food that is what counts. If you want a treat or two this is what she taught me. If you have fresh herbs dice them very small and put it into your dough. Or put some cimmamon, nutmeg in the dough, fry them in hot oil them toss them in sugar brown or white or both. If you get suprised with guests you can add white potatoes, even left over mashed potatoes work well. 🎉

Excellent ideas with a lot of flavors and color. Oatmeal ideas: day 2 add cinnamon; day 3 empty jelly jar a little on sides - put warm water in jar -shake shake - then add jelly water to oatmeal - cook as usual add sugar; day 5 same with syrup jar like day 3. If you learn to eat frugally and to stockpile first 2 weeks, then 1 month, then 3 months and eventually 6mos-1yr. Start small and build on it. Copy Southern Frugal Momma’s $5 emergency meals. You can substitute based on sales items no longer cheap- regular potatoes for sweet potatoes. Eat white rice and flavor it. Walmart has 5lbs of white rice for $2.78. Cheap white rice recipes - fried rice (with any bits of meat), cooked rice+small amount of milk+sugar/cinnamon, congee serve with boil egg or hard boiled egg add items you like. Wheat bread, Oatmeal, potatoes and top with things you like: chili, cheese, beans. If you eat this way for one week, you will save enough to start buying in bulk, example: Turkey $0.27-$0.37lb, ham $0.59-$0.99lb, chicken quarters $0.48lb, potatoes $0.25lb, rice $0.48lb, sweet potatoes $0.25lb, noodles buy flour make your own for $0.50lb, popcorn kernels 32oz bag $2.28, after you have 3 months of food consider saving for a small chest freezer and then move on to end goal of 1 year of food storage. Then you shop your pantry, not the grocery store until the next cheap stock up price comes along. Even with today’s prices you can feed a family of 4 for $40 a week. This week Brewers ice cream is $1.13 for 48oz. GV jello $0.74, dessert is possible.
