These are the MUST HAVE pedals every rock bassist should have! Effects pedals aren't just for electric guitar, and it can be quite daunting getting into the world of effects pedals in general, especially if you're a beginner. There are so many different makes, models, shapes, styles and types out there - that on the surface look like they all do the same thing! In this video Dagan breaks down the go to effects every rock bass player should have on their pedalboard!
Find all the pedals Dagan mentions in this video at PMT Online below:
MXR Bass Compressor - bit.ly/44kQXxC
Darkglass Microtubes B3K Overdrive - bit.ly/3sjp3Fg
BOSS CEB-3 Bass Chorus - bit.ly/3sstRb9
Electro Harmonix Micro POG - bit.ly/3qDt46V
Electro Harmonix Deluxe Bass Big Muff - bit.ly/44mWQKV
You'll find all the usual suspects in this video, but if you want to add anything please feel free to comment down below! What's your favourite bass overdrive, or bass distortion pedal? Do you use compression with your bass? Do you think bass chorus should stay in the 70's & 80s?! Let us know!

05:28 Darkglass Microtubes B3K

I have Big Muff and Plasma Pedal. The first minutes playing through Plasma, i had goosebumps. It so overwhelming. Bass combined with high voltage. Pure Fun. You didn't show much crossover on Big Muff. You can make really great sound adjustments with it.

Awesome demo, dagen 😎🤘🏻🎸 I personally liked the darkglass b3k and the boss bass chorus. I use distortion and modulation pedals on bass and I got myself some killer tones with it. Another good modulation pedal to use on bass is flanger. Underrated and radical sounding on bass.

Dude we must be birds of a feather - I've been using the MXR Bass Compressor, Big Muff and Boss Chorus for years and they're my "gotta haves" nowadays. I'd love to try the DarkGlass! Great content - keep Rockin 🤘

I am definitely a "always on compressor" type of guy. I play through a Helix usually, and will most of the time have a compressor at the beginning of the chain, and the the LA Studio Comp usually at the end as a "post" compressor (like you would use a rack in a studio setting).

I ditched the Big Muffs for the Walrus Audio EON and Ages 5 followed by an MXR 6 band EQ. Amazing fuzz and distortion. For compression you can’t beat the Cali 76. For chorus I discovered the Eddy by ElectroHarmonix. Great sound with vibrato as well. I also use the C4 synth which sounds great and replaces the need for a separate octave and envelope pedal. Also MXR M152 micro flanger and Phase 90 along with the Hall of Fame 2 reverb into an Ampeg SCR DI. Powered by a Voodoo Lab Mondo. Great sounding board.

I still love pedals on bass, my go-tos have always been my guitar pedals like my Boss OD-1X, CH-1 and BF-3, EHX Big Muff and my Cry Baby wah and it sounds awesome, plus it helps me get closer to some of my favourite bass tones (CH-1: Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division (Peter Hook), BF-3, Forty Six & 2 - Tool (Justin Chancellor), Big Muff & Cry Baby: Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth), For Whom the Bell Tolls, Call of Kthulu - Metallica (Cliff Burton))

I've been playing professionally for many decades. And never had any "must" pedals. I've had "they want you to spend money" equipment of all sorts. But other than a bass a amp and cable. Nothing else was "must"
@Farewelltokingz
@Farewelltokingz 10 ай бұрын
That’s how it is for a lot of people, and obviously I’m sure it still sounded great. The added option of effects though is something that might enhance the tone when in the right context.

If you've been playing professional bass for decades, then you know in which situations the small, fine devices can make you and your band sound better, especially live.
@johnzawicki5032
@johnzawicki5032 5 ай бұрын
@@zulu5157 the only "must have" is talant. Everything else is just a gadget. Yeah sometimes you need an effect of some sort. But after doing many studio and live sessions. The general audience doesn't know if you're using a $10 or $10,000 must have. I actually had more ask what I was using when I had my cheap clunker pedal board than when I had my tour rig. So this nonsense of you "must have" this expensive gadget is nothing more than ego food. I'll bet you a million bucks nobody is going to listen to any song because I used an expensive whatever over a cheap one and they are never going to know the difference if you played the same song using cheap "junk". Nobody and I mean nobody listens and says ... Oh did you hear that brand X delay unit ... LMAO They listen to what and how you play. I did blind tests of solid state amps vs tubes. And like 80% of the time the life long tube amp users picked the solid state recording thinking it was the tube amp. So that pretty much sums it up.

@@johnzawicki5032calm down and come down. The fact that effects don't make you play bass better is a piece of wisdom for children and no one cares what effects you use and when. As a modern bassist, you can't avoid the topic of pedals.

I’ve had one on my board for years but barely touched it over my other fuzz. But I recently discovered it blends way better in a live mix than my go-to fuzz because of the way it sits with the guitars

@@stevengonz I personally use a Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie over this. It’s got less of a mid scoop altogether and a nice clean blend knob and the right thing going on in the top end. Really recommend if you want something a little better.
