I've been following your channel for quite a long time now. You guys do an awesome job. Keep on shreddin' !!! Personally I can't remember a video on how to deal with mental barriers. I mean how to deal with that kind of great nervousness before a race, hitting a new jump or anything when it comes to something like get out of your comfort zone. You taught us on how to prepare our bodies an bikes for racing downhill. But how do you prepare your brain?? Hope you know what i mean.... :-) You guys were pro racers or pro bikers in general. A video with your personal experiences would help me and I guess a lot of others too :-)

I went on my first downhill run yesterday my mate has a proper downhill bike and told me I should come along. I pulled out my specialized hard rock pro which I haven't ridden in years and I gotta tell you it was a hell of a struggle! Do people downhill on mountain trail bikes or are they completely out of the question? I found once lowering my tyre pressures and the rocks/tree roots etc weren't too big/rough I was able to pick up some speed and keep up. Didn't fall off which is a bonus but definitely had a few close calls. We are doing a smoother downhill next run because I really did struggle with the hard terrain stuff. One thing that wasn't covered in this video is brakes. I was quite stumped on how to brake I was essentially on the back brake most of the run trying to cut off speed and compose myself for what was to come. Locking the rear A LOT. I guess with a proper downhil bike you probably don't need to brake, but do you use a combination of front and rear or mainly rear? I was a bit scared to lock up my fronts but was using both at times to knock speed off.

Sorry in advance for the noob question, I grew up on dirtbikes and bmx, but never looked into mountain bikes until now. Anyway why do downhill mtb have gears? What are they used for? Do you downshift and do the equivalent of "engine braking" to keep traction? (Rather than locking the rear wheel and sliding)

@drumandbassob0007

if you are upgrading your fork i would only only go up 10mm , but if you talking about moving from a 120 to 140 bike i would just get a endro bike 160mmish and keep your 120 rig
