What a great video! I live in Lisbon and I'm having the hardest time finding a school that could teach me. I want to learn on a small one or handed Laser, or similar. And every club has replied saying that they have age limits of 15 for the smaller boats. Ridiculous IMO.

Get yourself a sunfish and just take it out. Nobody taught me, I used a little critical thinking. Look at a "point of sail" chart on the web and apply it with some logic. You'll be tearing it up in no time. Have fun.

Did you ever find some instruction? If not, you might ask if one of the instructors if they would teach a couple days on their own time as a side gig. I agree about getting a Sunfish to learn on. They are pretty cheap, there's plenty of used ones, and they aren't super forgiving but are easy to right if you capsize. They are pretty capable. I've been taking mine camping, sailing to a restaurant, big waves, etc.

if u are in ediburah u can join the leith sea cadets u can go on a corses the unit is near ocene termanal u can only join if u are 10-18
