Hello from Turkey to the beloved Japan! About the olive oil... I am from the west part of Turkey where olive is very abundant. it is the indispensible part of our cuisine. Anyhow, there has been a debate going on whether olive oil gets oxidant when it is exposed to the heat. So, I have started adding raw olive oil to the already-cooked dish. And if I have to use some oil right away to fry or saute, I go for 'ghee' or cold pressed organic sun flower oil; if no other option, I still go for olive oil. In eastern culture, ghee is believed to be very healthy and nutritious and quite resistant to heat. Thank you for your videos, they are so inspiring and lovely. Hope to watch more of them. Hey there, a quick note. Acrylamide is in alot of foods when they are raised to a high temp. It can be found in teas, coffees, rice and bread products, and i think i couple of things like olives and other similar types of plant based foods. the acrylamide is a chemical product of high temperatures within the presence of certain sugers by a process known as the mallard reaction. in other words, that reaction that means the seared golden brown goodness we all love so much create acrylamide as a by product in things not meat, fish, poultry, or dairy! however the levels of acrylamide are so low as to not pose a serious health risk unless you over consume over a long period of time. in other words, if you are obese eating nothing but fried foods.

Actually, the presence of acrylamide is NOT specifically labeled throughout the US on the shelf of foods that have this ingredient, as shown in the chips you showed at 1:47. The requirement to shelf-label acrylamide is specific to a California state law (as stated on the notice). The other 49 states do not have this requirement/law. You would have to look at the list of ingredients on the package's label to know what is in the item you're purchasing. (A full consolidated list, disclosing all of the ingredients in any food item, IS required to be shown on a label, across all 50 states and territories of the US.)

As an arab, I'm so used to eating dates that I got bored of it (but I still love it) and consider it healthy, in my culture we only eat odd amounts (1,3,5,7,9 etc) the most common is 3 since it's a healthy amount, poorer people who struggle to find food eat far more and people who are on a diet eat 1. During Ramadan, we fast (no food even no water) from sun rise to sun set, and the first food we eat are dates because one of the health benefits of eating dates is restoring all the minerals and vitamins we lost throughout our fasting and gives us a boost of energy. I really love your videos and it had inspired me to become a minimalist, thank you 😊 ❤ Also please don't use extra Virginia olive oil, it's unhealthy if you use it for cooking, use regular olive oil (it shouldn't say extra virgin or even virgin) also its great for eliminating split ends and softening the skin, arab women have used it for centuries and my grandmother used to heat it up and smear it on my belly when I had a stomach ache.

But if a person eats them in even numbers, the sugars are converted into sugars and potassium, which affects kidney functions" its so cool how the amount you eat of anything affects you. Muslims and arabs eat odd amounts because that is what the prophet mohammad pbuh did and it became a sunnah and part of an eating etiquette. But years later we found out why he always ate in odd amounts.

To me, sugar-free means no honey, no dates, no sugar, no fruits (except low glycemic ones like blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries, but limit your portions to 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup and 1 cup respectively), and the only sweeteners that are allowed are monkfruit, erythritol and stevia. The soy milk you are substituting -- I wouldnʻt drink it. Educate yourself on what soy products do to estrogen and testosterone (and you will stop using soy products). Besides, soy milk has barely any soy in it. Read the labels. Coffee, I drink that; nobody gets between me and my coffee!! Itʻs best for me when itʻs black, but I will drink it with heavy whipping cream when I want to treat myself. The oils and fats I use are grass-fed butter, olive oil, coconut oil, ghee, bacon fat, tallow, lard, avocado oil. I also do intermittent fasting, I donʻt snack, aim for two meals a day, and when Iʻm really working hard at eating well, I eat 7-10 cups of green leafy vegetables a day (no starchy vegetables) along with a small amount of protein. No grains. Youʻve got a good start there, and need keep researching to refine your plan.

This is a common misconception because olive oil tends to smoke at high heats. However, the smoking isn't correlated to the harmful oxidative breakdown that other oils will have at high heats. Hello, I am writing to you from Italy 🇮🇹. So... the difference between olive oil and extravirgin oil are that the former is an oil obtained from the same olives, but refined with the help of chemicals. By law, can have an higher degree of acidity . Instead, extra virgin olive oil is simply obtained with a mechanical process, is less acidic and it is healthier, "cleaner".... Infact its cost is higher. In frying it had a good, but rather strong taste. I personally use peanuts oil for frying. I hope I have helped 🙏 Instead of sugar I use stevia. I inquire about cobon that I do not know. Thanks.... to the next video👋

Hi! I studied to be a dietician and I learned in school that if you heat up extra virgin olive oil to cook with it the bonds in the chemical structure that makes it healthy in the first place (sorry I don't know the names of these chemicals in English) when heated up they break up easily and produce harmful oxidants in the body. So instead of eating something healthy you will end up with a toxic mess of a food. I don't know if it's really true or not but that's what they tought us. Lots of people cook with extra virgin olive oil thinking it's super healthy and good for them. One of the name brand Italian olive oils have the cooking version so I use that instead leaving the extra virgin for salads and foods without heating.
@jaggae92 жыл бұрын
If you’re using olive oil to cook, use Pure Olive Oil. The process to make it is different. It can go up to a higher temperature. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a garnish and heating it up will remove all its healthful properties, a bit like how you shouldn’t boil miso.

Yep. Every body is different. So it makes no sense to follow the rules of the other people around you. What i changed during the last 10 years: cutting the sugar down and also cutting wheat flour down. I had really bad heartburn for a long time. My doctor recommend me to cut the carbs (esp. sugar and flour). I am feeling so much better now, heartburn was gone after a month and never came back....

Try sunflower oil, we always use it in Poland! I heard that when olive oil is heated some stuff happens, so u can do your research if you'd like to :))

A lot of Olive Oil is cut with Canola (rapeseed) or other cheaper oil, so just be aware. You can find a list online of Olive oils that are pure. Single origin is a good sign. For higher heat, I often use avocado oil, ghee or animal fat (Lard, Tallow..etc). Cultured or grassfed butter and virgin coconut oil a bit too.

This is really good! Aside from olive oil, avocado oil is another great option too and has a higher heat point than olive oil. I’ve done these food/lifestyle shift as well for better health!

I love this video, love matcha as well, I'll stay tuned with next videos! I use grapeseed oil in my kitchen, it's safe to heat it up. For cold dishes like salads,, sandwiches or any toppings, I use flaxseed oil - it's tasty and it has a lot of good benefits for our health, so I recommend! Greetings from Poland!

I didn't find a formal source, but as I searched, olive oil is not recommended for cooking, just to directly consumption, it shouldn't be used for frying 'cause in hight temperatures it becomes bad for health. There are a lot of people that recommends avocado oil instead. Actually I started using this avocado oil, but I didn't notice any difference.

Organic virgin cold pressed coconut oil. The most stable under heat conditions. It is great for cooking and baking. Also, multiple health benefits.

Greetings from germany, I really enjoy your videos because they contain a lot of usefull informations. For coocking oils it depends what I want to make. Fore example, when I whant to make something in a mediterranian style I use olive oil. When I want to make something with a more "tropical" flavor I use coconut oil its great for sweat potato french fries. But when I coock meat or anything where I want to enhance the natural taste of the meal I use butter because its high on fat. Yes when used too regularly its too unhealthy but for sometimes its nice and I really recommend trying it as long as you arent vegetarian or on a diet.

I do all of these things! Aside from drink coffee... I tried to give it up for 3 longs months before I decided to start drinking it again. As far as cooking oils go, olive oil is to be used cold or at low temperatures so be careful! Coconut oil and sesame oil are both delicious and versatile and are great for high heat cooking.

Hello! This is a very interesting video. I have stopped using most oils for cooking, and I use broth or water to sautee vegetables, etc. Using extra virgin olive oil for cooking can be an issue because it has a lower flash point than regular olive oil. You've made me hungry for dates!

I use olive oil for low heating food dishes. I like using grape seed oil for high heat items like when I cook eggs or sauté vegetables. Grape seed oil doesn’t burn in the higher temperatures but olive oil would. I love both though. Thanks for the content! It was interesting.

I did appreciate the video, but could not follow you on some things I cannot consume green tea (makes my stomach cramp badly) so matcha is definitely off the table. Coffee is not an issue since I only consume one cup in the morning, but would not matter because caffeine relaxes me (yes all people are different). I have changed my coffee though, I use lactose free, low-fat milk with my coffee each morning and have changed to honey as you did. I live in Texas in the USA and the local honey is necessary because of my extreme allergies. Honey works better than allergy shots. I do use local fresh pressed olive oil, but really prefer coconut oil for the flavor in most foods I prepare. You are so right about the sugar. I have not managed to eliminate this one, but I am working on it. When I use sugar to cook, I do use raw sugar, but I need to work harder to eliminate sugar entirely. I will try the dates, they are not a common food here so I have never tasted them. Thank you for sharing your journey with us!

Rice bran oil is my favourite oil for cooking with: it has a very high smoke point, and it has very little taste or smell. And the idea of making oil from a bran feels good too.

I just love you and your videos, you really inspire me! I also recently stopped cooking with vegetable oils and now also just use olive oil or coconut oil for cooking. Coconut oil is also great for cooking with because it also can reach high heat without becoming carcinogenic, so I recommend that too! You can buy the deodorized kind to cook with if you don't like the strong coconut smell.

Sugar, we use sparingly as Chinese cooking requires a small amount of sugar. Snacks, we have reduced greatly. Most snacks contain lots of chemicals anyways. Milk, mainly for my sons, alternate with soy for now. Coffee, I have one cup a day, and a pot of green tea or fig mulberry leaves the rest of the day. Olive oil only for western style cooking. Here we alternate between palm oil based blended oil and sunflower oil for Chinese cooking. Also use coconut oil and ghee for Indian dishes.

My favorite cooking oil is organic avocado oil, it's flavor is not as intense as olive, and it's a more fatty oil, so it has a better texture. I have never used it to fry, but it is really great for sauteing!

I would use a good quality corn oil for when you need very high heat, olive oil has a lower smoke point so it is easy to burn if you need the heat very high

Vegetable oils are toxic. I’ve cleaned a lot of deepfryers, we need special chemicals and paint scrapers to get the coagulated oil off, because it becomes basically plastic when heated. Getting rid of cooking oil is the greatest step in health. Saturated fats are the safe cooking fats, as they don’t break down with heat. The saturation protects them. Saturated fats are what the brain and body need. I was taught in school that olive oil is a condiment. It breaks down too fast so I don’t cook with it.

I recently found your channel again and am delighted! You are inspiring and incredibly smart. I see it mentioned, but I suggest you use avocado oil because of its high smoke point.. you can’t use olive oil in frying. A year ago I gave up all processed food and anything with added sugar…(this includes alcohol). My life has drastically changed. Your 5 things are great choices..add processed food to your list!’ You only need real food❤️..also..try not to do too many smoothies. Why drink your food? You miss out on all the fiber benefits in whole foods that you chew. Thank you for all your hard work in creating this wonderful channel adventure!

I think variety is important, so I never restrain my diet, but in my opinion what makes a big difference is the quality of your ingredients. Also rules can change from country to country, for example here in Italy we are super strict with food, even imported ones, packaging and how food must be produced. Usually when I can I buy near farmer's product and buy olive oil from south italy -spectacular quality-. I like to see where stuff are produced and ingredients. Just by that you can understand a lot and decide which product fits you better.

Thank you for this Video it's very informative. 😊 I used to eat lot of Osenbe with obachan it was so good but I know now it has lot of preservatives. Also coconut oil, or avocado oil is good but if you want to really do the healthy version an air fryer is the way to go, but that means adding more items.
