We've talked a lot about Swedish people, their traditions and customs over the past year on this channel, but today we're going to be digging into some of those giveaway signs that someone must be Swedish! How can you tell someone is Swedish during your first conversation with them? Are there certain behaviours, activities or customs to look out for that all Swedes do? Since this is going to be my last upload for a while, I decided why not dig into some of the customs and traditions I've learned to associate with Swedes. I guess you could call it the things I myself have begun to do that confuses all my English friends!

The time has finally come! After exactly 12 months of posting videos every week (not to mention twice a week for the first 6 months!!), I've decided to take an extended break. I've loved making videos for you all and building this community together, but it feels like the right time to take a hiatus. Why? Well, I never wanted this project to feel like a job, because that was never the ambition for me. So whilst I'm still having fun and enjoying myself, I feel like its time to take a break whilst I'm ahead... and before you guys get tired of hearing my voice😉 Thanks to each and every one of you for your engagement, your support and for the role you've played in this adventure. None of it would have been possible without you. As I mentioned in the video, I've left the ICRC's fundraising campaign for Ukraine in the description, for those of you that might like to show your appreciation by making a donation to this worthy cause. What I forgot to say in the video, is that I'll also be donating a large portion of my KZfaq earning this month. Recent weeks have gone to show that we really never can take for granted the peace, equilibrium and freedom that we enjoy, and it's never felt more urgent to do something to help those in need, especially those that have been directly affected and displaced by this conflict. So I guess this is farewell but not goodbye! I'll still be around the interwebs - make sure you follow me on Instagram if you're not doing so already!! And I'm sure I'll be back to posting regular content again one day, I just can't tell you quite when! Until that day comes, thanks for everything and take care!

Sir, I will miss your videos so much, they are very informational, personal and including, captivating your audience. Hopefully you will feel some inspiration for other topics, or make your channel take another direction. I know that making videos is a huge effort and it takes commitment, not only to others, but to oneself, so I understand that you want to take a hiatus, until you'll find some new ways to keep up your creativity. Until then, I hope you will have a wonderful time! And I think you have a lovely voice, so I reckon that it would take a great deal to get tired of it.

I am going to miss your videos, but of course I understand your reasons to take a long break, doing all these videos has to take a lot of time. It has been so fun to see Sweden from your eyes and , with the examples you show in this video I can say you are on the right track in becoming a proper Swede ( something I never really understand anyone from the Uk would like to be as I think the Brits are much nicer than we are!). @@MrsDuckie80 I have a British friend who says exactly the same about coffee and tea! But she added another habit here; O'boy! (Chocolate powder mix, just to add to milk, cold or warm.) Isn't strange that we have more tea to choose from than Britain? Or is it that the yoke of traditions prevent experimenting with other flavors than clean and pure black tea, perhaps go a little wild with bergamot and make it Earl Grey?😉😘 Come to think about it, the same situation as with pizza! The Italians have a nervous breakdown when they look at the menu at a Swedish Pizzeria, "😱PINEAPPLE!? BANANAS AND CURRY?? BEARNAISE SAUCE??! And..." 😨😵😵‍💫🤯🚑 🤣🤣🤣

So here comes a little help and I really don't want to sound like a word police, so please don't take it as such. Tak that you are writing in the end I am guess you want to say thank you. If you find some traditional swedish food for an example that you taste or try to do on your own or make a special spin on.. 2. A collection of other insights that you've got over an extention of time.. In that way you could go "over the last year" etc. 3. Anything new you've learnd or any new holiday traditions that you didn't think about before. Anyhow, I hope you'll be good and keep on enjoying your time here in Sweden now when we at last open up all our restrictions -and stay healthy. :)

Thank you and good luck in the future, It has been nice to hear your comments on how we live, some have been spot on, some have been little bit scattered. One little game I used to do when I lived in London was to "Spot the "Swede". We obviously bring with us some trademark characteristics wherever we go that is quite easy to spot for a fellow swede. I used too study people and see if I could spot a swede and I was very good at it with around 98% accuracy. When I met my future wife I used to show her what I looked for and how I confirmed it (mainly following them closely to hear them speak or just pretended to be lost and asked for directions.) My girl friend became my wife and became quite good at it as well with a rate of about 60 percent. That's my 2 cents of knowledge. See if you spot a swede abroad now when you have 3 years under the belt. And again, thanks a million.

It's been nice to follow you for a while. Good luck with your life here in Sweden. Still have to object a bit to your "Swedish identifications." To slavishly wait for the green light when there is little traffic? Lives in Sweden's 4th city Uppsala and there it is not very common. On the other hand, I got angry looks in Copenhagen when I went red. "Wash day excuse" as well, I have never heard. Of course we have washing machines in apartments as well, rarely in the kitchen that Brits have but in the bathroom. Good that you learned to drink real coffee. Not the water damage you can get in England sometimes. Ha det bra...

So sad!!! I have been enjoying watching your Videos so much. I am an international student here in Sweden from Germany and you've just always nailed all the bits and pieces in your videos with so much humour and class. Wishing you all the best

Thanks Mira! So fun to hear that you've enjoyed my videos and found them useful🙏🏻 so cool to get your perspective on my videos🤩 what part of Sweden do you find yourself in, out of interest? As for your question, I'd say its that Swish is used in so many shops, cafes and organsiations here in Sweden. From your phone, you can easily transfer money, connected to your bank account, without any need to login or anything - and you can use it to pay for services, like a coffee, a gift from a Christmas market or a bus ticket. Which just isn't really something you can do with Paypal, here in Sweden at least. Perhaps other countries are more set up to using Paypal in that way? Is it like that in Germany? :) thanks for watching🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I guess I must confess then: I am Swedish. I normally started my work day at 6:30. After a 45-50 min commute... That did not necessarily men I had so much free time in the evening, though: I had to hit the sack rather early. It was a good excuse to get out of any social event though - I have my own washing machine, so I could not use that!

I find us Canadians drink a lot of coffee as well! I had to cut back because I heard the acid in coffee can bother the digestive tract of some with IBS or sensitivities so, I cut back. I tried substitutes to real coffee but it tastes like, I am drinking grass. I need the real thing!

In Sweden, I am pretty sure that we don't glance left, right, and walk. We glance left, right, left, and then walk. I believe everyone is thought this in school.

Sorry but you wrong. Swedes don’t wait for green light since it’s not against the law to walk when it’s red. In Malmö you know that its only danes that wait since you get a big fine in Denmark.
