■ NEPAL, KATHMANDU: Wherever I go in this world I like to stay in hotels in the $30 to $40 range. Even in Europe or America it's generally possible to find something in that range. You just have to compromise a lot on quality, amenities and comfort.
But how cheap can a hotel room get if you're willing to compromise on hygiene, cleanliness, amenities, quality (essentially everything) in a country like Nepal?
Well, that's what I set out to investigate as I left the relative comfort of my $100 suite hotel room to search for Kathmandu's cheapest hotel room.

If that’s the cheapest hotel in Nepal , it’s actually not that bad. The room was spacious , two big massive windows for good ventilation, plenty of sunlight ☀️, it was reasonably clean. Moulds are not that bad, beddings don’t appear dusty , rooftop laundry 🧺 is pretty good, shower tap down below had good flowing water! There is really not much to complain!

I remember my hotel room in Singapore which was cheaper but a much nicer room than the $100 room you have shown us, it was my treat as it was my last night before heading home after 6 months traveling. I have to say even my hotel room in LA was cheaper and better, and they served an awesome breakfast there too 😋😀 I honestly think the best rooms for value are at backpackers you can still get your own room at a far reduced price to a hotel and nearly all the ones I stayed at had a bar and somewhere to get pretty decent food, especially in new Zealand who for me were the best set up anywhere I've been.

In Southeast Asia, my max amount to spend on short term stays is $25 USD per night. More often than not, you can find an abundant of safe and convenient places for around $5 to $10. After all, I'm traveling by myself to explore outside not to stay indoors all day.

Wow..My trip last week I spent $300 for two nights at a Hampton Inn in south Tennessee. Came and went from my room many times and never encountered a soul. Room was nice too. Worth every penny extra not to have to deal with the crap you probably face in your 10 dollar room in southeast Asia. I am willing to spare a few bucks to avoid roaches and bedbugs and drug dens. And smells.

Actually its pretty safe in kathmandu. People are nice. Just have common sense thats it. No gun violence maybe theft if you keep open the door. If locked nobody break and if somebody see break in room than he might get punches by locals before handing to the police. Safety no issue

Don’t try to fool the tourists in this world, they can research and find out. We want to impress the tourists.
