What is your "hustle"??

I’m about to get my degree in music (piano). But since I don’t have hustle, and because of COVID cutting my hours, it really discouraged me from continuing music. I’m switching to nursing because I’d rather have stability and I can still have music as a hobby or side job.

I was also thinking on studying "music" formally in college or conservatory because I was only self-learning myself with music theory for 2 years but here in our city here in Philippines, the most commonly and reknouniversities are located in the capital "Manila" or somewhere where the location is a little bit far from my own city. We have universities here in our city that are offering music degrees/courses but all of them are private schools and I don't want to flooden myself and burden my parents with tons of money for my tuition even though I can just be a working student at the same time. But I have also other hobby or field of study where I'm interested with which is language-learning or linguistics. So I'm gonna get a linguistics degree and do and perform music as a side hustle😊

If you want to be a professor, get the DMA or Ph.D. If you don't, you'll most likely only get adjunct positions. I would advise anyone who want to teach on this level to "get a doctorate, or forget getting a job." I have a Master's from a top 10 school (and plenty of experience as an adjunct and private lessons teacher), and still can't get an interview. GET YOUR DOCTORATE and be willing to move where the job is. I played in a field band in the Marine Corps, and it was a GREAT gig. Definitely consider military gigs. Right now I'm enjoying making money on the side playing in local symphonies....maybe one day I'll go back and get my DMA :)

College professor is that I was also looking for, including playing with the band and conducting for an orchestra. I also want to compose music which I have compose a couple of songs for the orchestra. I might do private lessons for bass. Jazz studies did got me satisfied as well.

I just got my Bachelor's of Fine Arts: Music and I planned to join the Army since career options as a sax player where I'm at are limited. Should I try go for an officer position or stay as an enlisted for a bit? I've heard that people don't treat new officers too well
