Robert Myers right. Some singers can belt those notes too but none of them can imitate So Hyang’s power, resonance, tonal quality and control on those notes.

fobt90 I agree with everything you said and don't forget the most important skill of hers. Her way of emoting and making you feel what she is feeling. So Hyang is one of the only artists out there that can make me tear up and have goosebumps.

Meikey Nazreen Adele screams everything above A4 with a tense, throaty, and hoarse tone lol. Meanwhile So Hyang screams none of her belts and can support to C#6. Most people who aren’t a fan of So Hyang’s tone still agree that her tone is fun up to about E5, which is about where most other singers’ supported belting ranges stop anyway. You might THINK she sounds like she’s screaming but she’s hitting those notes better than anyone else in the world. You’re just mistaking large resonance and good technique for screaming. How silly of you. And So Hyang isn’t famous worldwide because she doesn’t want to be. She’s turned down American record deals on several occasions that would have made her a worldwide star. If you’re going to call So Hyang a screamer, maybe you shouldn’t use Adele, a notorious screamer who can’t support anything above A4, as your example of someone who’s not a screamer.

Skyler Powers ~People hear sounds very subjectively due to psychological and physical reasons, I think. Others don’t know what the sounds remind them (maybe ex or teachers who yelled at them) or what kind of device (ears structurally different or damaged and simple car speakers manipulated with equalizers) they are listening from. Even this KZfaq reproduction has reputation of difference from other Vi?eo. So it’s meaningless to convince others it’s not such.

My opinion: Sohyang (indisputable) Céline ( bright belts, Support, resonance and clear voice) Lara (Notes supported) Mariah (Bright Belts and suported) Whitney (Brightness and resonance) Demi and Ariana (Awesome singers, but they are on a level below the others, some belts are tense, but they are the best of this generation and are getting better)

Lilian Wildt no it was jaw vibrato, she was moving her jaw to create vibrato.. I’m not sure if that’s like a stylistic choice of her choosing because jaw vibrato doesn’t sound as good as a natural and well it can also cause some unnecessary tension

Her gospel jaw was unnecessary and it was something she thought she had to do, since she was trained by her mother and grew up in a choir. There are countless instances where she has the same vibrato without the moving jaw.

Ahhhhh so much talent in there! Love em all. Sohyang is a 5th octave beast, love Whitney in her 4th octave. So smooth with mesmerizing tone. Love em all though, top notch talented ladies. The youngins still have many years ahead of them to perfect their craft. Will be fun to watch the progression.

I suspect many viewers have not heard a full song from Sohyang and they start commenting. Why? Because she isn't globally well known unlike the rest. I hope some of you can at least listen to her I Have Nothing (Whitney) and also one King of Mask Singer Song (probably Mona Lisa). Or you can react to her unofficial Korea national anthem Arirang Alone. It would then be fair to compare her with the rest here. It is fine that you don't like her after hearing her sing (not just based on a note).

1) Sohyang and Lara 2) Whitney, Mariah, Celine, and Ari 3) Demi 1) my reasoning as to why Sohyang and Lara are up there is because they're both so good at what they do. Lara's actual prime supported range is F#3-A5-C6/C#6, and we all know the queen of showing people that there are human ways to sing higher (Sohyang). These two are incredible singers. They are unmatched in talent. And that's the facts. Sohyang's Bb5 and B5s are unmatched. and Lara's E5, F5, F#5, and G5 are just her being better than anyone. 2) Mariah, Whitney, Celine, and Ari are put here because of the factor that, over the success of their careers, they've managed to improve their techniques. You might be wondering why I put Ari next to the vocal Trinity, it's simply because, she's never had PROFESSIONAL vocal training yet she managed to support an E5 in her new tour. And she managed to access her head voice for the first time, supporting a D5 in head voice. Ariana and the vocal Trinity are amazing vocalists. 3) Now, Demi is absolutely effing incredible. She's super awesome. But she doesn't match the ability that all these other women in this list have. Demi tends to compromise herself by adding little riffs here and there that aren't necessary and can mess up a gorgeously held note. Demi is still incredible at belting. I really admire her belted A5

My opinion: 1. SoHyang (Perfect Technique, Supported belts and beautiful tone) 2. Mariah Carey (Bright tone, Supports quite high and has a big range) 3. Celine Dion (Resonant belts, Supports quite high and has a ton of agility) 4. Lara Fabian (Supported belts, Great technique and good control) 5. Whitney Houston (Powerful belts, Has a lot of soul but sometimes makes notes sound pushed) 6. Ariana Grande (Ease in the upper register, has a bright and light tone, but needs to improve her support and technique) 7. Demi Lovato (Strong belts, Pretty good breath support but needs to improve on technique)

Amon Ra 2000 1) SoHyang is one of the best high belters out there,but below E5 she does not maintain the same support and resonance. She drops support while singing in the lower register often ... 2) Mariah does not support quite high. She drops support support around G#5/A5 . 3) Celine has issues above D5/Eb5. 4) Lara has a solid belting range,an atrophic lower register,a pretty but small and pushy head voice,mediocre agility etc. Not the best Technician at all. 5) Whitney’s overall range is the most even,out of these ladies here. The best vocal dynamics and,along with Mariah,the most divine sense of ornamentation. And that about her notes sounding pushy... she is the only one who can handle dramatic passages ... going from lyric phrases to dramatic ones! Spinto Spinto soprano: a fundamentally lyric soprano with a fair amount of extra "pulp" in her tone and a distinct thrust in her vocal attack. Nothing wrong with her.

robert monthe Whitney was a hell of a belter. She didn’t strain a lot,she just used to growl often during prime,which is something gospel singers do often. She belted out effortlessly many songs. Lara is an amazing belter,but with horrible lows during prime,and a head voice that used to get falsetto as she was trying to get up the soprano high C. Her runs are amateurish and her agility mediocre.

Perry Geo seriously , I do agree that Lara in her prime had bad lows , but I wish you agree Whitney at least strained even is a little she did , because is a normal phenomena as we go high the strain increases, and because she had the tendency to push out some notes as to make them dramatic which was so beautiful for me, but is clear she strained. Compare to Lara who have never strained in her comfortable range because isn’t obligatory for a soprano to sing low

Your video was simply PERFECT!!! Celine lost support slightly before the other divas, but got higher than all the other divas (except for SoHyang of course). SoHyang didn't lost support never!! Wow..

@@BabbelHage hell yeah she is, Sohyang and Lara lack a lot in agility, and Sohyang even in musicality sometimes. Celine's agility is out of this world, and she has some of the best lows in this video.

In my opinion: 1. Sohyang and Lara. (Magnificent tone, all belts are supported, Ease and consistence.) 2. Whitney ( Depeer tone but the powerful of all, great supported range, strong vibrato) 3. Mariah ( most pleasant high notes, open throat belts and great supported range). 4. Celine (bright and clear supported belts, good supported range, but consistently high larynx above D5/Eb5). 5. Demi ( powerful belts, but almost never has a neutral larynx, pleasant and supported mid belts) 6. Ariana (pleasant and bright tone and notes, to much tension consistently above B4, bad diction).

No, Sohyang should stay at no.1 her technique is far better, and her supported belts, also Sohyang has a wider range than Mariah, Mariah is only called "legendary" cause of her whistle notes. In terms of technique and range, SoHyang flat-out wins. She kept going, and supported all of her notes, even when all of the other vocalists dropped out. However, whether or not you prefer SoHyang's tone or someone else's is entirely your personal opinion.

Always underrating Celine probably because she's the biggest threat to what you all think are star rated vocalists 🙄😂 Just because she's nasal doesn't reduce the amount of her vocal abilities! Thinking Lara Fabian as a star rated vocalist and not Celine Dion is a clearer stupidity and insecurity of her talent. Lara has always credited Celine as her inspiration among others so it's clear who has the more stellar voice.

Jushua Castro actually no.. Tina Turner was Beyoncé Inspiration and Idol (as an example) and nowadays Beyoncé songs better than Tina had. Same with Celine and Lara. The fact that she is nasal also makes her vocals more thin. I’m not hating on any of these vocalists and think they’re all amazing, but in a rating the fact that Lara is above Celine is true.

Purple rain is a song where her vocals in mix go very high. Her popular highest note was a C#6. But she basically just did heady mix to Eb6. It is chesty from all sounds
