However, personal expression is and will remain important to humans as will appreciation for craftsmanship. Jewelry making can be an art that one could spend countless hours and resources honing. The materials utilized in the creation may be worthless but tremendous value could potentially lie in the artistic expression and craftsmanship… the heart and the soul… that an artisan may imbue upon his jeweled creation, be it canvas and paint or jeweled intricacies. There’s lots of shite “paintings” as there is plenty of shite “jewelry”. Respectfully. 🖖🏿✊🏼✌🏽

Moissanite is its own gem, yes. 6H-SiC has been isolated in nature multiple times as transparent granules that are green, yellow and near-colorless. You can absolutely tell the difference as well, it has a higher RI, a higher dispersion, and is highly birefringent.

Wrong...I don't like moissanite because it's "trying to be a diamond" I like moissanite because I prefer its colorful sparkle. If people wanted their moissanite to pass as a diamond they wouldn't correct people or make videos talking about their moissanite. Why would you out yourself if you're trying to get people to think you have a diamond? People like being in on something and knowing about a Gemstone that isn't well known, kinda like knowing the secret menu at a restaurant and also the sparkle is stunning for a good price point. So no, not everyone likes moissanite because it looks like a diamond, I correct anyone who assumes mine is a diamond and put them on to moissanite because of its beauty and to let them know they have more options

Regarding Point 1, I respectfully disagree. Just because the stones look alike and fill a similar niche, it doesn't mean one is trying to be the other. Some people treat them interchangeably, but that doesn't mean that's the general consensus. Consider the case of rhodium-plated white gold, rhodium-plated silver, and platinum. Put side-by-side, very few people would be able to tell them apart. Would it be fair to say that since the rhodium-plated pieces are incorporating a platinum-family metal, rhodium, that they're trying to emulate platinum and therefore should be considered platinum dupes? I would argue that in this case, they are metals that look alike, fill similar niches ("white" metals), but they aren't trying to be the other and can stand alone. It would be easy to say that the cheaper metals are trying to be the expensive ones. Sure, some people might pretend their rhodium-plated silver piece is rhodium-plated white gold, for example, but that doesn't mean that's *why* rhodium-plated silver exists, i.e. a way to reduce tarnish maintenance on silver pieces. As an aside, regarding sapphires, they naturally occur in colors other than blue, for example, green - that doesn't mean green sapphires are piggybacking off of emeralds, and vice versa. Anyway, I don't disagree with the overall point being made that there is a lot of misinformation floating out there, so let's not exacerbate that problem. Good video, though!

About point 1: Diamonds are used in jewelry in order to make it look better. It is an ornament, simple as that. Same reason we use moissanite in jewelry. Not for the moissanite to look like a diamond. They do the same, and the jeweler said it himself, they are 100% indistinguishable. They look the same, according to the jeweler. The thing is that Diamonds were first, because they are so esay to find, think about that. So all the craftmanship with cuts and polish etc was already developed with diamonds. But that craftmanship doesn't belong to the diamond "brand". Moissy was much harder to find in nature, and required tech to make in a lab. Naturally it became popular only later. Now, it does the same as a diamond, at a fraction of the price. Which by itself, makes it an objectively BETTER stone for jewelry. Anyone trying to say otherwise is brainwashed. Other than that, i more or less agree, certificates are meaningless, resell value is nothing, prolly won't take over the industry. Doesn't matter. Nice vid.

I mean I get the whole marketing thing but also there is a draw to something that the earth created. Diamond isn’t a rare stone but to extract them from the earth is a very costly process bc it is in fact hard. Whether you like it or not. The value of a diamond is that it’s hard to get. We aren’t finding any new kimberlite deposits. 30 years down the line who knows what will happen.

I’ll tell ya bro while the GRA certification is bogus, Moissanite does have a variance in quality that should be noted. For instance some stones are really blue and less attractive. Moissanite will be the future, as they’re going to replace CZ. This means CZ will get lower in price and Moissanite will go up in price, but still with no resale value. Even so, large CZ stones are easy to achieve, while large Moissanite stones are not. Natural Diamond will forever be the standard for sure.

Personally I’ve bought both and the only upside to Moissanite is when people do the out of focus shine test only then will it have more colors but the way diamonds refract light is so different if you have a bright light Moissanite shines more because Moissanites sparkle comes from the light unlike diamonds which produce their own sparkle so in dim light diamond>Moissanite but it turns around in bright light
@beartutor3377
@beartutor3377 3 ай бұрын
Your comment makes absolutely no sense based on the RI and dispersion values of both gems. Moissanite has a higher RI so it looks brighter in all conditions, higher RI means higher ray capture. Its like saying a 2 gallon bottle holds only 4 ounces at maximum capacity if its in the desert vs in a spring… no sense.
@Bman.jewelry
@Bman.jewelry 2 ай бұрын
@@beartutor3377 no it makes complete sense there are different kinds of light play between the two. Take a Moissanite and a diamond and put them in the sun the Moissanite with have more dispersion and sparkle but if you bring them inside with the Moissanite will look almost like a white sapphire it will be all cloudy and almost looks like milk a diamond tho you will still see the cuts in the stone and it will look more clear that a Moissanite also refractive index isn’t how good a stone captures light it’s about how well a stone reflects light that is hitting it and dispersion is how well the stone acts as a prism and splits that light into visible colors. In order for Moissanite to gain its hallmark effects of its RI and Dispersion it has to be hit with direct light and I’ve found that it also has to be white light like a bright white led or sunlight diamonds will better split different colored light into the rainbows works best in orange led lights

Once I saw several people at night in 25 degree frost with flashlights looking for a fallen diamond earring in the snow. It was too cold. I didn't bother to see how the story ended. This is a tragedy for people and unfortunately this happens - there is no guarantee that this will not affect you. If it were moissanite it would simply not be pleasant. My wife lost her moissanite bracelet. If it had been a diamond, we probably would have had to call an ambulance. It is possible to distinguish moissanite from diamond. When shined, moissanite will sparkle with bright flashes of color. The diamond will be dominated by contrasting flashes of white and black with rare additions of color. Moissanite appears more cloudy due to double refraction of the rays and does not have the sharpness and clarity that is characteristic of diamonds.

You probably think moissanite looks better because you can't afford a real diamond or don't want to invest in one. But honestly, if you were someone like Kate Middleton, would you really wear moissanite? No offense, but you need to be honest with yourselves. Yes, moissanite can be pretty, but put a 13-carat moissanite next to a 13-carat diamond and you'll see the difference. Moissanite looks candy-like, and its sparkle isn't as natural. once you see it, you will never be able to un see it. I totally get the arguments about ethically sourcing diamonds, but the reality is what comes out of the earth 🌎 will always be superior. You might think more sparkle is better because you've never seen a real, large diamond. That's a bit amusing to someone with family in the jewelry industry. It's fine if you’re happy with your moissanite ring, but remember, the marketing for moissanite is strong. You might be convincing yourself it's better as a sort of defense mechanism, but you need to know that it's just not the same as a natural diamond. Again, buy, moissanite… I have a friend who wears moissanite and she doesn’t know that I know that it’s moissanite. The comments about well I wore it and no one knew… believe me, any at least minimally, educated person on diamonds will be able to spot that. People resist the urge to offend, though…

lol in the same video he says people selling a lot of moissanite and then continues to say there is no demands. Bahaha I wear a moissanite pendant on my solid 10k Cuban and with my 14k rope chain. Haven’t had one person think it was moissanite.

Hey Gus! Can you please review a chain from Ice London? They have some really gorgeous moissanite cuban link chains of different types and they look so heavy and well built. I would love to see your review of it.

@@sgbabyflexyou guys are just delusional. The Diamond community (like this youtuber Gus whoever he is) keep claiming contradictory things. “It shines too much” then “they look the same” then “theyre too perfect” then “they dont hold up like Diamond” can you pick one? LMAO

Your first point was just dumb. I like moissanite bc it’s moissanite straight up. It’s literally better than a diamond. I didn’t get it bc it looks like a diamond. I get it bc it’s moissanite.

Diamonds are worth NOTHING! Why? Go take your 2,3,4,karat diamond jewelry to pawnshops and watch what those SOBs will pay you for it! NOTHING! The pawnshops will throw the jewelry on a weight scale and they'll tell you we ONLY pay for the weight of the gold or silver! You are basically giving them your high priced diamonds for FREE!

Moissanite, diamond, and all gemstones are not to resell. If anyone is planning to resell Moissanite, diamond, and all gemstones in the future, don't buy in the first place. Gold and silver resell can only be resell. Especially gold is #1 investment. All stones including diamonds are for fashion only not resell.
