I like this channel but he never takes fees into account. A 55% win rate, if you have too many trades, can be killed by fees entirely.

When a candle gives an entry signal, you set a order 0.5-1x ATR away or do you open a trade and set SL 0.5-1x ATR away from last (the entry) candle? I'm not sure what you mean...

@@Tepalus You set pending order 0.5-1 ATR, or 1-2 pip away from the signal candle. The point is to prevent bad trades where an impulse triggers MACD shift and then price returns back. SL is on the last pullback as described in the video, but it might be helpful to use Donchian channel to set SL

I haven't calculated my current MACD(only) win rate because I also use VWAP(stocks) and other stuff...but total win rate averages around 65 to 70% (with ~1.5/1 reward risk). 70 and higher when market structure, trend, modifying reward risk ratio according to market structure, etc are good. Around 60 percent when trying to hit a home run with bigger reward to risk ratio.

It depends. When you say a big move against your position, do you mean a quick, large move and then it goes where the MACS predicts or the whole market moves against you for long periods of time? If the first one, you want to use ATR or market structure for your stop loss. Just because of timing, you can get "whipsawed" to your stoploss if you are entering a buy trade on the close of a candle and then on the next candle massive sell orders get processed before the buyers come in. That can kick out your stop even though when the buyers come in the market will move the way your trade predicted a few minutes later.

@@froznen it's most often a quick sharp fall (or rise while selling) but i think i have to work out the right entry signal and SL with ATR. I always analyze my closed trades and it moves 60-65% in my direcction. So SL really is the problem... Thanks for the answer mate :)

How are you doing now? I think SL is the problem for sure but also should keep in mind that entries shouldnt be straight up on the crosses but also waiting for some volume and confirmation that it's going in your direction, otherwise you just get shaken out or worse

@@Jimmy-sj8pi Yeah every evening i check for entry signals (because i just can trade on the daily timeframe and not throughout the day) and when an entry signal occurs, i set a pending order 1x ATR away from the close of the candle in the direction i want to trade. This way it will execute when volume comes in but i miss out on big loses. Since this post (3 weeks ago) i improved my winrate to about 45-50% (if i just count the last few trades, i'm on 80% but that is highly unrepresentable) My SL is currently at 1.5x ATR and my TP is at 1.5x SL but i have to tweak it. I want a strat that works overall in the stock market. Currently i'm working on a MACD Strat for every crossover (lower TP against market, smaller SL etc.) How does it work for you?
