5 miles of torture: Stupid Decisions on a Tenere 700 & vstrom 800de - Heavy Enduro

lets Take a Ride

Күн бұрын

The unnamed rider and myself vowed never to return. The road has become virtually un-rideable and today was a complete torture test on the big ADV bikes necessitating a recovery mission at the end. I almost drowned my bike but I made it out.
Dual Sport Motorcycle Riding Adventures. In 2017 Jon Buffington (Professional Photographer) & I (Hobbyist Videographer) decided to photograph, film, camp and share the ride (Mini-Series, Movies, Videos). When I first bought my bike, very little information was available for places to ride. Talking with Jon, we both knew its out there, we just needed to go find it! Along the way, somehow it grew into putting on AMA Events & Rallies. Currently, we're adding a Mini-Series. Fatigue, dehydration, stress: once you go down first time, you ride intirely different, more cautious, which can lead to additional dumps.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that does stupid stuff on a T7! I was riding up about timberline at 10,000 feet of elevation on Rocky shit and managed to take a pretty good spill. I won’t tell you about getting pile driven into a 3 foot mud hole full of water last year, but it’s safe to say I have decided that the Yamaha will Stay on the less technical trails and I will use my dirt bikes to access the knar!

LOL..I hope this was a lesson learned :) I followed a young guy on an offroad adventure last year, mounted on my Tiger 800. Everything was great till it wasn't..LOL Cost me about $700 in parts and a huge shot to my ego. The top heavy tiger is now strictly limited to road and sometimes dirt road duty, and my little KLX250S gets all the dirty time. Watching you guys tackle that trail makes my knees and ankles hurt. I've heard it said many times that if it all goes as planned... its not really an adventure. Thanks for taking us along!

Wow that makes exhausted just watching. Can feel the fatigue setting in. Relentless. Super impressed you guys stuck with it. We need to "gofundme" your buddy some proper riding gear. You can tell he's a youngster by his willingness to ride that rocky road without knee or shin protection. great video and riding from both of you. Curious do you notice any change in your riding when recording vs rides where you just go out without the camera?

The 800DE did great on street tires. That never ending down hill rock garden would have killed a Transalp. You both chose the correct middle weight Japanese bikes. I noticed you having trouble starting your bike. You're giving it gas when you hit the start button, you don't have to do that with fuel injected engines.

I do believe I'd rather have something in the 250- 300cc range mainly for the light weight especially when I'm 67 years old. I was leaning toward the Kawasaki KLZ 300 until I sat on it. I thought I was going to have to get someone to help me get off of it. Now the choice is between the Honda CRF 300 and the Yamaha XT 250. I hear the Honda has more low-end, but the Yamaha sits lower and is lower in price. Will have to test ride them both. By the way I don't think I could walk on the trails you rode. Very good video!

This was oddly entertaining! I’d honestly rather watch a video like this over one made by one of the “experts” like Brett Thacs or whatever his name is. The point of adventure riding isn’t to be good or do it “right”! There is no such frickin thing! That’s the whole point of adventure riding is there is no grading system or judgement or points awarded. You just get out there with what you got and do as good as you can! That’s the whole fun of it! There are no rules!

Ps I'm exhausted, and I'm not even on my bike. Last year, I was up in a canyon quail hunting. I took a different trail back to pavement. Dropped my bike four times in sand desert soil. @@johnmcmahon8740 What I'm liking is the choice to talk. I can blog into a mic attached to my camera and everyone doesn't have to listen to me. PTT when I have something important to say and the helmet time is all private. I can burp, cough, sneeze, tell myself to pay attention, remember to not hold my breath, not fear ... and nobody thinks I'm crazy all because of old school walkie talkies.
