5-minute oil change on Hummer H3. In this video, I use synthetic oil, high-quality synthetic oil filter, and washable AFE Power air filter for my Hummer H3 oil change. For this method, only a ratchet and 13mm socket is required (for removal of skid plates and oil drain plug).

Thank you! I was avoiding doing this myself, part lazy and part well lazy and loss of confidence over the years lol you made it look easy man !! I’m changing the oil tomorrow, hopefully it will help clear up the P0014 code I’m diagnosing.

What did you mean with the air filter when you said it does not use any oil? Air filters use oil? Caught me a little off guard, not very smart when it comes to vehicles! Thanks in advance!

Hello Jay, many "re-usable" air filters (i.e., K&N) require a cleaning and then a coating of air filter oil. The air filter oil is what some report as the source of contamination of their mass airflow sensor, which is between the air filter and the engine. The idea is oil can coat the sensor and cause issues. The re-usable air filter I have in the video is "dry," meaning it does not use air filter oil after it is cleaned.

What’s up H3 Humper, I did my oil change yesterday and my oil light came on this morning… I even reset the oil sensor, could it just be a bad sensor??

I would double check the oil level on the dipstick. Sometimes the oil level settles and it could actually be "low" after the initial filling. If the oil is near the "full" mark, it certaonly could be a sensor. Let me know what you figure out!

Hi Dylan! Did you catch any difference between original GM oil 5w30 and Mobil 1? And also what do you think about this washable air filter, are this any advantages (except washing possibility)? Thank you.

Hello Иван, I am unsure of specific differences between the oil but decided to go with the Mobil1 box of oil to reduce my consumption of plastics. It comes in a 12 quart package with the oil in a bag inside the box, instead of inside individual plastic bottles. The most notable difference with the air filter is being able to re-use it to reduce my waste with paper filters. The quality seems to be very high, but I do not notice performance differences or anything. Thanks!

The fuel filter is integrated into the fuel pump assembly. The oil filter is located on the underside of the engine above the front axle.

Fram is not a good quality filter , I would not use it ,never .

There is a large range of Fram filters with varying levels of quality. The Fram Ultra Synthetic filters are quite high quality, in my opinion. I wouldn't use the lower tier Fram filters, but the one I used in the video has media made for synthetic oil and is rated for 20,000 miles. Not that I would go 20,000 miles between an oil change, but it is a testimant to the filter's capacity and quality. I add a couple of magnets to the bottom of the housing for a little extra piece of mind.
