Love your videos. My house was built in 1983. Needless to say, they didn't have the big Kenmore Elite fridges back then. I did measure the fridge opening and the frig before I bought it. I did not consider having the issue of opening the door. My kitchen is a galley kitchen. When I got my frig in I couldn't open one door, It is on the end. The wall separated the formal dinning room and the kitchen with louver doors. So I had the wall cut back so I could open the damn door, discarded the louver doors. It worked great. The door openings are never big enough.

I knew exactly what I wanted almost no upper cabinets and nothing but drawer cabibets on the bottom with a nice walk in pantry, a big island with two sinks a normal one and a smaller one for rinsing veggies or washing hands for my hubby while I'm using the main sink, the Micowave om the lower cabinets so my mother who is disabled could safely use it, a built in for our trash can with a hole cut thru the countertop with a cutting board plug making wiping counterops off into ut easy, add a dish washer as we did not have one before. A cabinet built in with glass shelves to display my great grand mothers inherited dishes adding 3 big windows in place of the upper cabinets I wouldn't be needing with all the drawer storage. A pot filling sput above a oven/ stove that was flat or flush with the counter top so nothing obstructed my backslash view or the spout. It was a series of mistakes trying to save money given my small budget that started a snow ball into a kitchen with none of those must haves for me. 1st on black friday they had appliance packages at a great deal however u had to buy a ventahood/ microwave combo instead of a nice ventahood ok so we can put Mico wave on top when my mom need assistance using it we can just do it for her, next u count get a countertop depth reg. And a stove with airfrie tech in the cheapest package so we got regularsized reg. Ok couldn't get backless stove so now we cut out pot filler and get all appliances at a great deal of 2400, including dishwasher and ref. With water abd ice maker top double doors Freezer on bottom. Ok now we figure out cabinets we want sharker style way out of our budget but we find a deal brand new cabinets 100 each man has a bunch but sold as is and we had a good drive to get them. All in box none have drawers we get what we think will work and knowing we had to scratch the pantry idea due to the reg. Not being countertop depth we get one with a lazy Susan we get home build all these dang cabinets easy but takes time. Figure out out layout and decide the reg. Has to go in the coner or it sticks way out into the space so we move oven and end up having to lose a existing window. Then while waiting on counter tops and using the kitchen in this floor plann we realize we have to get upper cabinets in add-on to tge ones we had to get for tge microwave wall around tge stove. So we got the 1st set of cabinets 1000 dollars for 10 but not tge drawer kind we needed but regular with doors. So we order 1400.00 worth at full retail price to match theses great deal cabinets so we end up spending the sane had we just bought the lowers I really wanted now we have to loss a 2nd window to have wall space for th e cabinets....it gives on but we end up with no place for food or dishes no organization a microwave that is not safe for my disabled mother no place for our trash took oyr windows not add them tgmhe focal point being our huge refrigerator. And our back splash being very small due to tge upper cadents coming down so low. All we need todo is address some of this and I acially like the end result given how bad it was before but didn't get much of what I wanted lol

I have huge vaulted wood ceilings in our great room but it’s soooo dark. I don’t know how low to bring a big chandelier and not disrupt the views from the windows.

Even knowing what I wanted my kitchen remodel was still a nightmare…and yes, it was my fault! I’m hoping for the rest of the house I will have the right GC to do what I need to have done to get my house updated and safe. Even knowing costs plus 15% of unknowns, I don’t think I can do my bathroom like I wanted to do. I will have to do a much lower remodel in the bathroom and NOT add another bathroom I hoped I could do. The prices in this economy hasn’t helped either but what can you do? I have to lower my “wants” to what I “need”. That’s a big difference too!
