I like how diplomatically and fairly you handled each of the situations you mentioned, especially the issue of people copying your work. I think it is a good lesson for our students about the importance of creating their own work. Thanks, as always!

Thanks for the tips. I have a TPT store and I agree with the tip of not looking at other products but just using your own ideas from the classroom. My problem is consistency. I seem to like to experiment with different styles and fonts. I like your idea on just sticking with a certain set of fonts and clipart. I'm going to try that ❤

Thank you for sharing! This was such a great video. I was heartbroken when a much bigger seller directly copied my most loved resource. I was so proud of my resource and I put so much time, attention and love into it - and then someone else copied it completely - same font, clipart, design, concept, everything. I couldn't believe it. I was crushed. As a community we must honor and respect each other's creativity and copyright. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Please don’t be scared away from this content! I think the steps are really helpful. I’m loving this teacher pay teacher series! ❤️ unfortunately a few people copying you, ruin it for people actually trying to use your steps to start our own original designs

Teachers Pay Teachers. I decided against it when it was impossible to just sign up as a buyer. The TPT insists a new customer signs up for a Basic Sellers Account. I decided to sell on Amazon instead 😮

So I was inspired to do worksheets about my curriculum. There is user that does them too, but it’s not exactly how I would like them to look. Would I be able to do a phonics study guide or phonics chart creating my products? I’m trying not to copy the curriculum at all, but I’m scared some of the info is very similar to this other account. That creator is the ONLY one doing the curriculum I have. And I just don’t like how they’re laid out and can be confusing to some parents (first grade HW packets).

I understand that you can use free images from Pixabay to create products to sell, but their terms of use clearly state that you must modify or alter the image before using it as part of your product. What does that mean? Can you give me an example? I have teaching Google Slides I created, and would like to sell them as a product on TPT, but I've used free Pixabay images and I am not sure how to alter them. Just so you have a clear idea of my product, I will give you an example. I teach Spanish, and on my teaching slides I could have a picture of a girl's face (from Pixabay) and underneath, a description of her eyes and hair in Spanish as part of a unit on physical descriptions. Can I use images for that purpose without altering them? Please let me know what you think, or how you would alter them. Thank you!

Random thought Michelle, please set me straight if it doesnt make sense. So, in order to keep all the comission for products you put so much time into, could you just have your own website and sell your products through there?
@PocketfulofPrimary
@PocketfulofPrimary 2 жыл бұрын
Well, yes and no. Yes, you can always sell your products on your own website. However, there are costs involved with that as well so you don't necessarily keep all of the commission. You obviously have to pay to host and maintain your website, but you would also have to pay for the store integration and depending on the one you use, they could keep a small commission as well.

I have a question about making resources that accompany your district’s curriculum. I’d like to make resources to go along with my reading and science programs. Can I sell those and mention the program’s name on TPT? For example, Markers & Minions sells products that go along with the Benchmark language arts program. Are there any steps that should be taken first, such as reaching out to those companies? Or is it OK not to?
@PocketfulofPrimary
@PocketfulofPrimary 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dione! I can't tell you a clear "yes" or "no" because it really depends. The first thing you need to do is check if the name of the curriculum is trademarked. If it is, you can't mention it anywhere in the product or the product listing unless you get permission from the trademark holder. You can't base things on what other sellers do on TpT because there are a lot of sellers that are doing things illegally by infringing on copyright or breaking trademark laws.

I'm 87.35% sure that I will not sell on TpT (but never say never), however, I've enjoyed and learned a lot from this series. One question I have, if you haven't filmed your Q & A yet is about All Access TpT. My school district subscribes and as a buyer, I wonder how sellers get paid for that. Is it worth it for sellers to be on All Access, or would I be helping sellers more if I purchased from my personal account? How does All Access work from the sellers point of view?
@PocketfulofPrimary
@PocketfulofPrimary 2 жыл бұрын
Aww, thank you so much for watching anyway! I'm happy you've enjoyed it regardless! That's a great question! Sellers can choose to have their products included in All Access or choose to have them not included (I personally do have mine included). We do get paid for sales through All Access but it's a smaller commission so we don't make as much (I think that's why some sellers don't participate). Personally, I care most about teachers getting the resources they need and I love that some districts participate in All Access because that means teachers are spending less out of their own pockets. That's worth the decrease in money I make from it, in my opinion. Thanks for asking because I can completely understand how that could be confusing! 🖤

Hello Michelle. I have some questions: I don't live in USA, can I have a TpT account and receive money from the resources that I have created? How can I receive the money if I sell a product? Does TpT allow products in languages different from English? Thanks!
@PocketfulofPrimary
@PocketfulofPrimary 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Karol! Yes, TeachersPayTeachers is open to sellers internationally! When you create your seller account, you'll see your options for payout because I'm not sure if it's different for international sellers or not. But, yes, TpT has tons of products that are in languages other than English! Best of luck to you! 🎉
