This video includes the entire kitchen renovation process, including demolition, installing hardwood floors, building kitchen cabinets, and installing the cabinets and cabinet hardware. And finally, at the end we’ve got a full cost breakdown and the kitchen reveal tour!

This specific video series only had about 1 or 2 videos out so far, butI knew more would eventually come. Well now it's been about 2 years and I've been watching every single video and gotta say, WELL DONE MAN! It's awesome to see how far you've come and how well you've done everything as well. We have a pull down vent we inherited on our 5-10 yr old stove when we bought our house a few years ago, it doesn’t run to the outside, but just recirculates using a carbon filter. We also use another vent in the microwave atop the stove, also recirculating. They SUCK, for a few reasons, being recirculating they’re not powerful enough, but the biggest problem is the CONSTANT upkeep, especially the lower one, which constantly becomes a grease pit of despair.

Gorgeous. I can usually nit pick over kitchen designs. Would I change anything in yours? No, though I likely would have gone with a black sink. I love when elements "disappear" in a Zen sort of way.The light is (pardon it) brilliant. I noticed it immediately. Bravo! You could simply paint that last strip of drywall matt black to match the cabinets. Less challenging to your natural bent to invention; however, it would make that problem disappear with very little effort. The way you handled that problem corner is genius. Simple and effective.

I've done a few kitchens in my time. If you add in the fronts, the hardware, and the tooling he uses it brings his price a lot closer to the 45K range. I could be a bit off because I build my doors and fronts. Or I buy Ikea if its a budget and I have still hit those numbers, ZERO shade to him, use whatever resources you can! I loved this video and its inspired me to try concrete in my next remodel

@@holocaust_2.0 A younger me attempted to build cabinets professionally without a CNC, its possible, but its hard. I think a CNC should be honestly considered these days you can get them reasonably now. There is plenty of work to do while your carcass is being cut. Other than that I'd consider dato jig and dust collection. Oh yea and a track saw, and a good miter saw for trimming stuff up. It all kinda depends on how often you're gonna do it. If you're using Ply,MDF etc. Hope this helps

As for the dent on the fridge, you can call a good reminder of the order of operation. (Hey, that’d been a good name for a band.) Anyway, since you asked, I HATE shorts! I won’t even watch them. I enjoy regular length videos as I invariably gain at least a nugget of knowledge from them. They also seem more personal. Shorts really don’t do that. So glad you are looking and feeling better.

This looks like no-frills, restaurant kitchen, but much nicer. Like an interior designer did it. So all the frills are hidden and there are a ton. I could cook a great dinner for at least 20 in there. The clean up would be so easy. I kept wondering about ventilation, happy he mentioned that, and paints it like the cabinet doors. The diagonal floor is the happiest accident, like Bob Ross would say. It would have looked bad in either direction, this is perfect. He KNOWS what will look the best, and how to do it.

I have that same refrigerator and have had to look up the parts diagram before. Keep in mind that freezer door is only about $275. Worth it in my opinion when the rest of the kitchen is brand brand new!

I love how the floor boards are running at a slant. Very cool. You could get the nice black stainless steel appliances. That would look so good in there. And no to the brick backsplash idea. Keep the clean lines. Some type of black trim on the drywall part

I would do some more black acrylic over those drywall spots with some LED lighting behind it to give a nice glow when the main light for that nook is off. Plus it would tie in with the acrylic on the island.

Your dented fridge reminds me of my parents hardwood floors. They're typical middle class people. Finally splurged and had real hardwood flood put in their kitchen and dining room. For some reason the flooring installers didn't hook up the water to the ice maker in the fridge. My dad pulled the fridge out, hooked up the water line, pushed the fridge back only to discover that the fridge put a huge gouge in the new floor.

It’s an awesome kitchen man. I would just say regarding the extractor, check carefully the airflow rating of any potential product you buy. In a big space like that you need a high cfm rating to make the extraction work well. I would be tempted to install a recirculating pop up hood in the cabinet space behind the hob, it will bring the extraction much closer to the job surface making it more efficient, and doesn’t need ducting outside. It uses a charcoal filter to deal with any smells and puts the air back out into the room, usually at kickboard level.

First off, glad to see that you are looking healthy again - you had us worried there for a second. Second, I've been watching since the start when you were under 800 subs and I am so impressed with the progress that you have made throughout your entire home. It is a slow arduous process that you have undertaken and while you still have a ways to go, you can see the hard work, imagination, and love you have put into your dream. Looking forward to seeing how this slowly plays out to the final big reveal ...... and then what comes next. Thank you for taking us along on this journey.

Been loving this series. I knew from Ep1 that it was something that would never be in my budget to do but after watching so far, just wait until he does the end of series cost breakdown. I don't remember what his original budget was but I'm betting he's at least 50% over the original budget. Can't blame him, though. It's one of those things where, if you're going to do it, do it well. This was always going to be a high end reno. No point in trying to stay on budget by going with more moderate materials/design. It would be so obvious where the corners were cut, in a reno like this.

You need to seal the underside of the butcher block countertop for the same reasons as painting the drywall especially with the oven directing under it, but also add the reason of bucking and cupping issues in the future.

That's one awesome recap, Mike. On paper took some time to complete, but has been totally worth it! And good effort in saving a lot of cash by doing a self-build. It almost looks like your new truck is now 'theoretically' free had you outsourced this kitchen build to a dedicated kitchen cabinet firm. Lots of quality details in that. Well done, and good health 👍 😀

Something this series has taught me so far. Assume double the time, over budget the money/labor/time, turn the reno into a series so it can help out with costs, learn to do the simpler things myself, and get permits super far in advance. Question about the range, is there going to be a hood or some sort of extractor fan for when you're cooking? I cook a lot and can't imagine not having an extractor fan or something to keep the smells relatively concentrated.

The kitchen is awesome. Now you need to start a cooking channel! That backsplash tile would also look good in that little spot of drywall, and those little touches tie the whole house together. The hidden range hood would look great. Congratulations for keeping going with this project! Edit: Keep the matching dents.

Congrats, the kitchen looks amazing. I was literally going to comment about ventilation when you answered the question. I kind of thought you were going to go with countertop downdraft so that you didn't spoil any of the sight lines in the kitchen, but a flush mount ceiling vent system does the same thing. Really, really beautifully done, congrats again, I hope you enjoy it

With my eye, that brick splash with the knife block, you should do a pair of vertical herb gardens and replace the LED with a grow light. That way you can bring some color into the kitchen and have another useful tool while cooking.
