3 pronged gripper has interesting linkages, wouldn't one using gears work too?

The biggest problem with just gears is that there is always a small rotation offset (because teeth can't collide), so it doesn't really work in a small scale

the reason the strong gripper stays in place is because worm gears can act but cannot be acted upon
