It's a pretty narrow counter but powerful when it's good!

In the right deck, Foil is good. I play this in Edric and Jhoira 2.0. Who cares if I have to pitch 3 cards just to counter a spell for free? I draw cards like crazy.

I think a big part of Trap's price is that it's played in eternal formats. Lots of legacy decks that play between 2-4 in their sb

@@EleusinianDionysus Lunar Force. There are other earlier iterations of it as well. And to have more fun on your end at least you can add Mana Maze, Mana Vortex, and Mana Breach. It will really slow the game down. Mana Maze is a very underrated card for commander, especially if you play a lot of multicolored cards. Preferably 3 colors or more. You can easily build around it. Animate Spell is also another counter spell that is very often overlooked.

It's hard to explain in a short message but basically those effects aren't generally very good. They are good at stopping you from losing the game but they don't help you win. Card slots that can counter an opps wincon or save your own ate much better than a stifle effect

@@ModAnonMTG Agree to disagree, deck building is completely subjective but “Stifle” and “Trickbind” should deserve more recognition in the CEDH meta for their ability to disrupt key combos and triggered abilities, often resulting in game-changing advantages. While their utility may be situational, skilled players can strategically deploy them to thwart opponents’ game plans. More importantly is disallowing from win Thassa’s Oracle. Now if you casting Trickbind it shuts down the permanent from activating their own activation ability such as “Walking Ballista” and “Heliod ”. At the end of the day, the deck building is subjective while your opinion and mine is too but it is subjective all the end of the day. It was a nice discussion mate, I will say.🙏

@@ModAnonMTG brother I play rograhk thrasios cedh. Douse and lifegrip are so much more useful, I don’t think deathgrip will ever see a ton of play due to the fact green has quite literally become the most underperforming color competitively. However when we are talking under rated under played counterspells for competitive idk how we don’t touch on those 3. They go around the entire meta like the meta is a slug. I didn’t think green could have such a powerful counterspell.

@@ModAnonMTG I politic people into giving me douse or lifeforce using Guided passage :3. Guided passage is actually kinda lit in cedh. 3 mana sorc speed draw 3 cards that are tutored out of your library by an opponent. One land, one non land, one creature. The power of my rograhk and thrasios deck is if I cast guided passage there are 0 good choices for an opponent to make. Also fury storm targeting guided passage is really gross. I’ve drawn 18 tutored cards total that way for 7 mana.

@@ModAnonMTG top 3 most under rated tutors for cedh are : 1. signal the clans (it’s an instant speed 2 mana gruul demonic tutor). 2. Guided passage. 3. Muddle the mixture honorable mention: Threats undetected. I had a signal the clans pile the other day where I couldn’t lose, it was Kinnan, dockside, or dualcaster mage, and I had enough mana open after to cast the twinflame dualcaster combo. I ended up getting dockside and winning anyway with that. Signal the clans being instant speed and “chosen at random” increases its playability. The fact it’s random means people will counterspell it less. They won’t know the targets until it’s resolving.

@@ModAnonMTG guided passage at 3 mana to allow an opponent you choose to tutor board answers to your hand is good. The fact you get 3 cards out of it and it gets around opposition agent is the real gem of the card.
