Definitely agree ,I stayed in Alfama for a month and without cash it would have been difficult for things like the pineapple cocktail on the river side and street food in general.Loved Lisbon and Porto and the Portuguese people.

If you go to Lisbon, ignore what this guy says and BRING CASH!! Most places only take cash. Also look out for pickpockets they are everywhere. My aunt lost her phone in central Lisbon.

In terms of cash, if u were to go to malls or grocery stores or big stores, yes u won't need any cash, however if u r staying in anywhere that isn't a city, cash is very necessary, many small shops don't except card

Several months ago I reached Lisbon by bus. I rode my wheelchair to the train terminal - and was shocked there was no information desk. LISBON IS A CAPITAL CITY. I found a friendly security guard who directed me downstairs to the trains, but of about 10 lifts, only 3 were operational - none of those went downstairs to the trains. Finally I found a kind little old lady who helped me purchase a ticket, got a hold of my small suitcase. She recruited a young man to help with my wheelchair and yet another young woman to help me down the escalators. It's too long of a story to detail other disappointments, but in a nutshell I do not recommend solo mobility impaired to travel to Lisbon.

You absolutely Need cash. I am currently in Portugal vacationing . Lots of small market stores require only cash ( no receipts of course). I spent 40 euros, on groceries, glad j had some cash in me .

Braga ,Coimbra and Guimares are beautiful historic cities in northern Porto. Sinatra is not a city… more a string of small connected hamlets.. hilly too. The Algarve is the tourist hotspot beautiful coastline and super hotels. Enjoy.

Cash is definitely necessary as soon as you leave ANY major city. Especially if you want to support the actual real local businesses which by the way won’t look super fancy but even a bit decrepit, but those are the real places to get food

Waves- praia do norte, nazaré, leiria, portugal Yes, you can go and watch them (specially now in winter it may be better looking) but by the photo's i have seen, the ppl there look like they are 1 metre away from getting washed out by a wave😶 And i do recommend bringing cash. Although you don't need to, it is always a good practise❤

For older castles/history, visit the north. Please carry cash at all times, especially outside of Porto and Lisboa. The entire country does not run on cards lol

Uber is NOT available everywhere in Portugal. Not in all of the small towns and villages. It wasn’t even available in Peniche!

Accommodation here, for a small moldy apartment that is about to fall of, is 300€, not only that but 10€ in this country only can get you 2 packages of juice and olive oil

If you didn't need cash, you were very lucky. I find that I need cash all the time here in Setúbal! Even in Lisbon I've experienced places that don't take card.

For the people seeing this video its a scam. Portugal is one of the most expensive countries in Europe way more than Spain, Italy and almost as the Netherlands. The rents are the 3rd most expensive in the EU, and thanks to the influx of foreigners Portuguese are leaving Portugal, because its unbareble to live there

You are thinking to live here only in 40$ a day? The minimum hotel is 35€ a day, you will spend at least 3€ in breakfast and 20€ for lunch and dinner. You will pay 3€ for each trip to metro. How can you do only these things within 50$?

If you are here for tourism, then you will enjoy your time outside, rather than finding stuff from market and cook your food in hostel. I am living in Lisbon, I just went to Porto and I experience those things that I am telling here. It's good to imagine, but not in reality

E se viver aqui, vai ter de se aguentar com taxas e impostos altos, salários que são dos mais baixos da União Europeia (até para licenciados e magistrados), políticos corruptos que parecem que só melhoram poucas coisas durante o seu mandato e 90% que pioram as coisas (parecendo todos eles iguais)e que são elitistas, estradas em mau estado sem serem arranjadas durante muito tempo, condutores furiosos,etc etc. Já para não falar que nos últimos 5 anos parece que cada setor de atividade fez greve... Um "State" não é o mesmo que um Estado no sentido de Estado Nação/Governo, mas sim de uma zona territorial dentro de federações/ Uniões, que normalmente têm uma certa autonomia dependendo do poder do estado central. Por exemplo Califórnia é um Estado dentro dos Estados Unidos da América. Basicaly in Portuguese the word State is used more on the context of a Nation as a whole, "The Portuguese Republic is State" and not in a fragmentation of power internaly inside of a country like the US, Russia, Germany and Brazil

@@iveneverhadagoodusername8808 Exactly👍 In my opinion states are political entities with sovereign political power over their territory, such as Portugal, the Republic of Ireland, Austria, Texas, maybe even some Canadian provinces could be considered states, etc…a country is the territory inhabited by a nation or a group of people, such as Scotland, Catalonia, England, the US as a whole…. That’s usually the distinction I make. You can also have nations inside of nations like it says in the Bible that Israel was a Nation and a company of Nations. But states are the political entity with independent sovereignty over a certain territory.

Another thing that's absolutely ridiculous is the isolation of the apartments. In too warm and summer too cold. I think even in Kenia the buildings are better constructed. Portuga is definitely one of the poorest European countries
