Ross Hauser, MD explains what he sees in his practice, Caring Medical, with regard to patients seeking stem cell therapy for joint pain. Often, we are asked about the single-shot stem cell therapies, including those using amniotic cells. Simply put, if the underlying joint instability is not addressed, most stem cell therapies are just not all that effective for long-term pain relief. Plus, many of the latest types advertised are a few thousand for a single injection of dead cells. If you want to know if you are a good candidate for stem cell therapy and get an opinion on the various types of stem cell options that are best for your case, we would be happy to help. Our clinic treat patients who travel to our center from all around the world. Please reach out to us directly to discuss your case privately.

I thought the greatest problem with the undifferentiated embryonic stem cells (otherwise why not just use the bone marrow instead?) that he called "from placenta", is that those are not even supposed to be able to treat anything at all, rather than the forces applied on the joint. Such cells can be used merely for study only, NEVER fro treatment- they are simply too "naive" to be able to differentiate into the needed matrix of cells bypassing at least 1 differentiating step or even more. I would assume he just unintentionally dropped a wrong term.

Great candid and informative video. What is the likelihood of stem cells recovering a knee from a torn meniscus? How many shots and what would you say would be a reasonable cost estimate? Thanks!
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, Thank you for your kind words. We have had much success in helping patients with a torn meniscus and have published a lot of information and research on these cases on our site: CaringMedical.com. We utilize a lot of PRP Prolotherapy in these cases, though stem cell Prolotherapy may be used- depends on the case. The issue is that it is not only the meniscus that is the issue. Typically, it is just the meniscus that shows on MRI so it is what gets attention from surgeons because they may try to remove it. However, in order to tear the meniscus, there is ligament damage present that either allowed the meniscus to tear or happened at the same time (depending if it was a trauma, occurred over time, etc..). This is why correcting the joint instability is such a huge concern for these cases and the need for more comprehensive care than one-shot of stem cells inside the joint. Our clinic specializes in patients who are trying to stay out of surgery now and in the future. Most of the time in our office patients do great with 4-6 treatments of H3 Prolotherapy (solution varies depending on the individual's severity as well as his/her functional goals). We'd be happy to talk with your more about your case- feel free to reach out to us directly through the site where there is more research and cost info or directly at info@caringmedical.com. Take care for now.

Thank you doctor for this information. I’m 54 and had hip resurfacing surgery on my left hip due to severe degenerative arthritis. I’ve healed well and went back to my profession which is teaching dance and practicing martial arts. My right hip has mild arthritis and because I’ve been compensating on my right side since before I got surgery on my left hip has left my right hip tight and often inflamed when I teach a lot or train a lot. Would comprehensive stem cell treatment help me?

Prolotherapy could be a great treatment option for you! The thing with degeneration is that it happens over time, your mild arthritis will only continue to get worse unless something is done about it - aka regeneration!

Dr. Hauser, what is the definition of healing from a prolotherapist's perspective? Is it based on image findings i.e. MRI showing regrowth of cartilage, ligament, tendon? Is it based on clinical, i.e. patient can lift weights or run pain free, or both? What types of prolotherapy gives the best outcomes? Thank you
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, Very good question. Generally, the patient is considered "cured" when their functional goals are met (being able to do activities, work, sports, etc that they couldn't do before due to pain) and there is evidence of joint stabilization. This could be upon ultrasound or x-ray and/or physical exam. In our experience and research, patients who receive a more comprehensive form of Prolotherapy have the best results. This could be utilizing various solutions (dextrose, fatty acids, minerals, stem cells, PRP, etc.) but the injection technique is what makes the treatment comprehensive. This means not just an intra-articular injection, but all around the area. Many people receive minimal injections for Prolotherapy and it does not get them where they want to be. Typically means a more comprehensive technique needs to be done that includes treating a wider area. Hope that helps. If you have specific questions about your case and want to discuss privately with our team, please email us directly through our website or info@caringmedical.com. Wish you all the best.

Does stem cell therapy help with older, pre-pubescent injuries after puberty?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Joanna, Yes, we often help patients who had old injuries from childhood that never fully healed or they "got by" but as they aged, the joint became arthritic faster or became their "bad knee" or whatever joint it was. Chronic ankle sprains is another common one as many people sprained their ankles as kids but then it became a chronic pain issue as they got older. In any case, we would need to review the person's individual case to know if they would be a candidate for Prolotherapy and if that would include needing stem cells or what type of solution is recommended.

Hi Durga Prasad Sao, Thank you for sharing and we're hopeful that you will soon find a treatment that will help ease your suffering from fibromyalgia. Glad you are looking into various options. We cannot comment specifically on what type of treatment someone should do, but we do suggest that you seek a consultation and examination from a doctor or maybe multiple doctors to see how they would approach you case after they have had the opportunity to do a proper examination and assess why they believe you are experiencing chronic pain. In our office, we take a look at structural causes and specialize in Prolotherapy treatments, sometimes using stem cells from a person's own body. Each case presents unique challenges and we tailor the recommended treatments based on a thorough review of their symptoms and medical history, motion testing of the various joints and other physical examination tests, lifestyle, and their personal health and fitness goals. Hope that you can find a medical team near you that will take a comprehensive look at your case. @CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve Stone, thank you for your question and so sorry that you've gone through multiple surgeries and still have pain. Generally, it indicates that the surgeries made the area weaker (more unstable) and never addressed the underlying instability. So, it is not just about a single shot of PRP/stem cells into the joint, but a whole joint (comprehensive) approach. As well as there are certain injection techniques that specifically help to calm down painful scar tissue to eliminate pain being generated from that source as well. We would love to help you. If you want to email us directly about your case, we will get you in as soon as possible with one of our specialists to resolve the degenerative issues happening with your knee: info@caringmedical.com or through our CaringMedical.com site. Steve Stone Check out serrapeptase for scar tissue. It's a biological enzyme that breaks down fibrous tissues in the body. I wrecked my shoulder and had bad nerve pain, both from damage and from scar tissue visibly 'squashing' nerve roots on dynamic ultrasound. Nerves heal slowly, and I also have a lot of PT, but after a year on serrapeptase, I noticed significant differences in nerve pain, and after ~18 months, I was getting close to normal range of movement - which I have now. Not bad for an injury a PT described as: "if you didn't have skin you'd have pulled your arm off." I use 'Dr's Best 120,000 units' available on amazon, 5 caps/ day. Serragold is the other top reputable brand. There's a decent amount of research going on with it, available online. Some good research showing it breaks down biofilms that some bacteria form to 'live' in, that can let them 'hide' from antibiotic treatment. I also have Lyme disease, so for me it tackled multiple complex issues - as *part* of different regimes. It's not very expensive to try it, compared to many other things, and I don't believe it interferes with anything else (although altho ways check).

@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 3 жыл бұрын
Hi eric man, Thanks for your question. There are no guarantees in any type of medicine, no matter which type of procedure, technique, surgery, drug, etc. The research and our clinical experience both have been overwhelmingly positive for ligament tissue repair in general. However, full/complete tears are not usually a stem cell therapy case as an injection cannot suture two completely loose ends back together- that would only be done with surgery. With that, often people would find Prolotherapy helpful after surgery because any force strong enough to completely tear a ligament likely did damage to the surrounding structures which could be tested through dynamic ultrasound and physical exam and then a treatment developed from there. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2021!

Hi Nour Kurdi, In our experience, Prolotherapy with or without stem cells, is a treatment series of approximately 3-6 sessions. Some people do feel improvement in pain and function with only 1-2 sessions, and others may need more than 6, if their case is more severe or healing is compromised or delayed for a variety of reasons. This is something the doctor who is treating them should be able to advise upon a physical evaluation and review of their medical history.

Sorry you saying with amniotic stem cell therapy you have to get multiple shots to improve and with umbilical cord PRP and other stem cell therapy improvement would be better than if you receive multiple shots of amniotic stem cell therapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Giovanni, Thanks for the question. No, we're not making any claims about amniotic vs umbilical. We're talking about the number of injections given per treatment, as our clinic is known for a comprehensive injection technique that uses multiple injections at each treatment. We are addressing both inside and outside the joint, versus most "one-shot" stem cell procedures are just injecting a bunch of cells inside the joint. That is the primary difference between traditional H3 or Hackett-Hemwall Prolotherapy with autologous PRP and/or stem cells, and a single shot of rehydrated cells. If it helps to see a demonstration of an ankle treatment using multiple injections, here is a link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ip6TiZyYvZ66ZKs.html

He is not saying that stem cells do not work, he is saying, over and over, that only ONE stem cell injection will not do the trick...and of course, this makes sense. Secondly, he is talking about comprehensive supportive total knee stability treatment...which also makes sense, but what does that consist of, what kind of exercises ? As an amateur alternative science medical researcher, I have the perspective that GOD gave us an incredible machine whose design has the capacity for unlimited self repair and maintenance. The hardware and the software to repair or replace any broken, defective or diseased parts is still all there but the program becomes dormant after it has been accessed and produced whatever body part or function it was designed to produce. Throughout the entire animal kingdom we see examples of different creatures being able to repair and replace certain broken or defective parts while other creatures do it for other parts. We all have different active and dormant DNA programs. Humans can repair broken bones while some other creatures do not. Some creatures can replace lost limbs while others cannot. Sharks can grow endless quantities of teeth while we are only " programmed " for two etc. Two sets of teeth should have been enough for a lifetime....but for those of us who waste this gift and lose our teeth, we should be able to turn the tooth making program back ON to grow another set. Our challenge for the future of medicine and good health is to stop using toxic drugs which only treat SYMPTOMS and interfere with some of the very elements of the GOD given IMMUNE SYSTEM which we were given to protect us. We should investigate instead how to identify, decipher and activate the DNA programs which control all of our body construction and management so that we can get these programs to turn on and replace damaged, diseased or broken parts...according to the original master program and not depend on hit and miss science Current " hit and miss " stem cell therapy involving " injecting " stem cells at a site and hoping it figures out what to do by itself is not real science although it is an interim and interesting process for now...but we should not be satisfied. The higher order of DNA manipulation, and the accessing and turning on of controlling gene sequences would correctly activate the STEM CELL factories to do what they do on a more accurate and controlled way and without the need to artificially inject stem cells randomly at some damage site. THIS EXCITING FUTURE IS ALL JUST OVER THE HORIZON...HOPE I GET TO SEE IT AND BENEFIT FROM IT
