They not busting, scouts are just bad when it comes to evaluating talent. They get allot of things wrong and most of it is opportunity. Some don’t have the opportunity to fail, you can’t grow if you not allowed to make mistakes.

Always being on a pedestal in high school. Everyone telling you you'd be a Top 5 pick straight out of high school, these KZfaq channels following them around, making them think they already are some big celebrity. Sad that alot of these players best time in their careers will have been in high school. Bol Bol and Nico Mannion come to mind, hyped since high school, pegged as for sure lottery picks, then they both get drafted in 2nd round. Now Mannion ain't even in NBA anymore and Bol Bol I thought he was fixing to come up in Orlando, he had a nice 5 game stretch where he was playing nice, but Orlando got rid of him after the season and he hasn't even got any playing time yet in Phoenix

How did Suggs' second season not "move the needle all that much"? He didn't just shoot "marginally better"... He improved significantly, and his TS% was near Giddey, Barnes, Jalen Green, Cade level, so he yeah he wasnt efficient, but his efficiency was comparable to other players drafted in the top 10 in the 2022 draft and his defense is second only to Mobley.

@@nono-qe2yqYes, because all of those guys you mentioned provided much more to their team than Suggs. Suggs couldn't even break the 10 ppg barrier. Heck even when you help Suggs and set things to Per 36 minutes to be more fair to him, this is what you get: Suggs: 15/5/4 41/32/72 52% TS Green: 23/3/3 42/33/79 54% TS Giddey: 19/9/7 48/33/73 53% TS Barnes: 16/7/5 46/28/77 52% TS Cade: 21/7/6 41/28/84 49% TS In that list, the only guy Jalen is a little close to in production is Scottie Barnes, who actually regressed from his ROTY year. And in a team with so many guards and a recently drafted combo Guard in Anthony Black, this IS a do or die year for Jalen.

@@luisenriqueperezperez3193 not one of these guys comes anywhere close to Suggs' defense, so lets not ignore that part. Suggs is already an elite defender for his position. As far as his minutes, yeah he was on a minutes restriction for most of the season because of injuries, but when he did play more than 30 mpg his efficiency didnt suffer. He averaged 14.6-6-4 on a TS% of 54.7. No one is saying Barnes is on the "verge of becoming a bust" even though he actually regressed. No one is saying Cade is "on the verge of becoming a bust" even though he's extremely inefficient, a poor defender, and was taken 1st overall. I am not saying any of these guys are busts. I am saying its way too early to include Suggs in this video given his improvement last season, which the uploader completely ignored by labeling it "marginal improvement". He's just wrong.

Zaire Williams had a good 2nd half of his rookie year, but his second year he came into training camp injured. He missed a handful of games and never found his rhythm. After coming off a healthy off season he said “nobody outworked him this summer”. He’s most definitely not an almost bust

Ziaire williams is an excellent player the big issue that needs to be addressed for him is that he is struggling to find minutes. His shooting mechanics is good but his 3 point shot is his main weakness amazing defensive talent for a 6'8 forward with a large wingspan either the memphis gives him more minutes or that they should trade him to another team like the pistons. they need that defensive and rebounding mentality on him.

If you had Clam Radish, Kelvin's Klocks shoulda been on the list too. In fact, didn't Kevin Knox come in the same draft as Cam? Pretty sure they did. Either way, I totally agree, but the title had me confused until hearing the end of the James Wiseman portion. I went in assuming busting meant busting out (breaking out), not busting in the sense of becoming a bust.

It seems like that biggest unknown when scouts draft players is the intangibles - how hard would a prospect work to translate their size and raw athleticism into skills and how professional do they act off the court and with teammates. This seems like the hardest thing to judge. Judging athleticism and various basketball skills is easy. This is where guys like Wiseman, Bagley, Raddish, Josh Jackson, etc become busts.

Sometimes teams actually need to put in some work and develop players. Most of these guys were stuck behind win now vets, or the team had several young players of the same position. I hope this doesn’t happen to Green and Thompson in Hou with FVV and Brooks in their way.
