Yes, plenty of my lecturers throughout university were not doctors, particularly in the pre-clinical years when you're learning about physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology etc.

@@harshil.1 thanks for the comment. Rather than answer your question directly, I thought I'd quickly publish an article on my thoughts on the JMP so that I can direct anyone who has a similar question to the article. It's only got the first things that come to mind at this stage, so it might change as I recall more pros and cons.
