Thanks! que 60% au quiz, j'avoue m’être emmêlée les pinceaux , mais j'ai appris des choses comme "be said to be" ( dans l'exemple: "On dit qu'elle est enceinte", je ne connaissais pas cette tournure, super je viens de l'apprendre! A bien réviser, revoir, rabâcher les phrases " indirect" pour que " ça sorte" rapidement a l'oral sans réflechir 1h. Bonne journeé!

This video is a good reminder. In every former videos (with the small board!), you gave us useful tips that made us improve our English already. But I know practice is absolutely necessary (as far as I’m concerned, I’m often absent-minded!) Thank you for the quiz! J’ai eu un peu de mal pour trouver comment accommoder un futur avec un imparfait conditionnel…(« Traduisez : Si j’avais su que tu étais à l’hôpital, je serai passé te voir. ») et pour comprendre complètement « I hope you found this quizz useful ! » If you know what I mean! ;) 211228

In every former video (au singulier) = In all the former videos (au pluriel) You already gave us many useful tips in the old videos, those with the small board, for improving/for helping improve our English. I know practice is absolutely necessary , especially for people like me who are sometimes forgetful. to be forgetful : qui oublie facilement les choses, qui a du mal à les retenir, à les rappeler to be absent-minded/absentminded : qui oublie à cause d'être inattentif, qui n'y réfléchit pas. If I had known that you were in the hospital, I would have dropped by (the hospital) to see you, I would have come see you.

marie-andrée martre thank you for your question. Sans contexte, la phrase au discours directe peut effectivement être l'une des trois propositions. Cependant, ces temps ne sont pas équivalents, et c'est bien le contexte qui va définir l'utilisation de l'un ou l'autre.

" Je serais passé te voir " et " I would have visited you " (je t'aurais rendu visite) sont au conditionnel antérieur ou au passé conditionnel. to agree with = être d'accord avec to be up = être levé (ne plus être au lit) to be up for qqch = avoir envie de qqch

Talbot Lucie thank you for your question. La bonne construction serait "The concert will be finished", mais to be finished a un sens différent et veut dire fini dans le sens de ruiné/détruit. Ici, il faut un futur antérieur qui se consrtuit avec will have + participe passé du verbe d'action.

@@lucianegri8588 Pardon. Je viens de répérer une coquille dans mon message précédent : (j'aurais dû écrire I have been told) est au present perfect. On remplace am par have been Donc, on emploie le prétérit pour parler du passé : I was told that (on me l'a dit, j'ai entendu dire ça) yesterday, last week, before, etc. On emploie le present perfect pour parler d'une période qui dure jusqu'à maintenant : I have been told that three times (already) : on me le dit (déjà) trois fois (jusqu'ici, jusqu'à maintenant, jusqu'au présent)

Bonjour Adrien, J'aimerais savoir si cette tournure de phrase est correcte : Si je m'adresse à quelqu'un et lui demande : "Do you know how do you get there ?" Est-ce grammaticalement correct ? Ou je peux dire : "Do you know how to get to you there ?" Ces deux exemples sont-ils corrects ? Je sais que dans une phrase interrogative au présent simple l'auxiliaire DO doit être utilisée, mais je ne suis dans l'incertitude ... Merci d'avance pour vos explications éventuelles.

Do you know how do you get there ? ❌ Do you know how to get there (comment y aller) ? Do you know how you can get there ? (comment tu peux y aller) ☑️ => attention : la question directe c'est "Do you know ?", on va dire donc " how you can (comment tu peux) get there" (question indirecte) au lieu de "how can you (comment peux-tu) get there" (question directe)

C'est pareil en français : Si je sais = If I know Si je savais maintenant = If I knew now Si j'avais su avant (hier, la semaine dernière, etc ) = If I had known before, yesterday, last week je le ferai = I will do it je le ferais = I would do it je l'aurais fait = I would have done it

merci Adrien. Personnellement j'ai beaucoup de mal avec le "on" : on m'a dit, le job qu'on m'a offert. J'avais suivi en leur temps tes vidéos sur ce sujet mais j'avoue que j'ai du mal à traduire ces phrases même si je comprends quand tu expliques ça ne me vient pas spontanément.

On m'a dit : They told me. I was told. Le job qu'on m'a offert : The job (that) they gave/offered me. The job (that) I was given/offered. Dans ces phrases, et veulent dire

@@christinem3084 Merci Christine pour ton message. C'est très gentil. J'ai commencé à lire les messages dans les commentaires il y a 1,5 ans pour améliorer ma compréhension écrite en français. Puis, je me suis dit que quitte à lire les messages autant que j'aide les gens qui posent des questions, ça me permet aussi de pratiquer et améliorer mon français écrit. C'est parce qu'en français, on utilise certains verbes avec l'auxiliaire "être", d'où la confusion.

Francoise Dutoit thank you for your question. Non, to be finished en anglais veut dire "détruit". Il faut utiliser l'auxiliaire have.

Désolée d’être aussi casse-pieds ( y a t’il un idiome pour cette expression) et encore merci pour vos réponses

Hi Adrien je ne comprends pas bien la deuxième phrase. Le futur antérieur aurait été : le concert aurait été terminé. Pour moi sauf si je me trompe, of course, : Le concert sera terminé est du futur. Donc, j'aurais écrit : the concert will be finished when ....merci de ta réponse

Le concert sera terminé => c'est une phrase "passive" au futur Le concert aura été terminé => c'est une phrase "passive" au futur antérieur Le concert aurait été terminé => c'est une phrase "passive" au conditionnel antérieur ou au passé conditionnel. The concert will finish => c'est une phrase "active" au futur The concert will have finished => c'est une phrase "active" au futur antérieur. The concert would have finished > => c'est une phrase "active" au conditionnel antérieur ou au passé conditionnel. En anglais on dit "the concert finishes (se termine)" à la voix active, tandis qu'en français on dit "le concert est terminé" à la voix passive.

D'abord il nous faut une phrase au futur antérieur. "the concert will be finished" est au futur, pas au futur antérieur. Il faut dire donc "the concert will have been finished". Mais c'est une phrase à la voix passive, et to be finished (être fini) en anglais a le sens de "être détruit". On va dire donc "the concert will have finished" au futur antérieur et à la voix active.

@@christiandechaux9533 Oui. J'espère que, toi aussi, tu es en pleine forme ! to be finishED est à la voix passive parce que finished est le participe passé du verbe to finish. will be over et will have been over sont à la voix active parce que over est un adjectif. C'est parfait !
