You are the first person to mention the essential sanding eraser (dressing stick) I’ve seen on KZfaq. I often use it while I am sanding. It needs to be used every few seconds. Does everyone else use their belts clogged up or do they replace them every 5 minutes😀 I find its best to let It drag on the belt. Using it against the belt direction it is very liable to dig in and fly across the room.👍

I just learned more from this video than the last ten in other locations. I was trying to figure out how to sand in a tight space. I just made a few stick ones to try. WOW - The other stuff is great. I want to watch all your videos so I will as time allows. Great stuff. You are on point, you do not mess around - and you are a spot on teacher on here or anywhere else. Can't wait to see the others. I am a studio musician, very small studio but I built what I need. Crazy but I enjoy it, I have a bunch to learn but thanks for such great tips!

These are great, thank you! I did have a thought on your box of sandpaper rolls: why not add small spacers under the hacksaw blade fasteners so the blade sits up 1/16" or so, allowing you to feed the rolls underneath and tear them off even easier?

$2.99 tube of silicone allowed to harden and cut out of the tube makes great sandpaper cleaner. much cheaper than the product your buying and works as well. (take a tube of silicone and a razor knife and cut some slits along the tube then set aside for a couple of weeks till it hardens then cut the plastic tube off)

Oh, come on. For most people, buying a large $10 sandpaper cleaning stick to last through many cleanings (a year or more) is not going to bust the bank. I usually cut those large sticks down (into thirds) to make them easier to handle.

great show indeed! here is my humble contribution for rejuvenating random orbit operations: due to fair wear and tears, the sanding sheets (even then new ones) keep flying off the pad. remedy? hot glue the sheet on with just 3 to 4 dabs of glue. works wonders, and easy to remove as well.

I bought one of those crepe rubber sanding belt cleaners, and it works great. It's also useful to erase pencil marks from wood too. Unlike the more abrasive pink pencil erasers, it won't abrade the wood and leave marks behind. It just removes the soft pencil marks.

Another great video Colin and l know a fellow Brit has already mentioned it but screwed up plastic bags really do work well as a sandpaper cleaner. Another great trick is to stick fine sandpaper, say 120 upwards, to the back plate of the mitre gauge on a table saw, it stops the piece you’re cutting from moving. Keep up the great work and please, don’t stop laughing!!

Thanks for the tips. I have made similar sanding sticks by taking wooden paint stirring sticks, some spray adhesive and off cuts of recycled sandpaper. You can label the handle ends with the the grit and have progressive grits on one stick. Drill a hole in the handle and it can hang right next to your sandpaper supplies. The sandpaper erasers can be found in Harbor Freight stores in the US, MUCH less expensive than woodworking supply stores or on line catalogs. I look forward to your videos

I totally need to try putting sandpaper on a dowel, then putting that into the drill and using it to bore down a slot for the bolt nuts on the cigar box guitars I'm working on. It might work better than running the Dremel back and forth along the mark line. I like your sanding file/tongue depressor things, but I always just called those "Emery boards." :) Would the sandpaper roll box work better if you added a washer between both screws between the blade and box, then run the papers beneath it? You would be able to simply pull upwards and towards you to rip them off rather than downwards and towards you. Might take a little tweaking to keep the paper from pulling back through when released, though.
@miller110488
@miller110488 4 жыл бұрын
The other thing you could do with the storage box is put a washer on both ends of the blade between the blade and the box. Then you can put the sandpaper under the blade and just pull out what you need and quickly tear it of
