or you can practice every weekday not playing online smash. only you can play online smash at weekends. if you mastered the true combos and all the techniques, and sheets, you can now play online smash every day. So study the video and practice makes perfect

Tip 5 is a must, hydropump is extremely underutilized, it creates so much more opportunities for greninja, it also catches opponents off guard, for example they try to fast fall to ground and you hit them with a hydropump lifting them up it’s an easy punish if they don’t expect it or are trying to input their next move before they’ve landed. It also gives greninja more range options

Thanks a lot for these very useful tips! It helps a lot for us greninja mains. Those percentage sheets will definitely help a lot too, because I fail so many times the combos because of a lack in these percentages.

Definitely appreciate guides like this. The long, in depth stuff is great for understanding fundamentals of moves, but matchup specific tips (Lucina and K Rool) and theory crafting about option coverage (tech chasing examples) is definitely what I need to improve my gameplay rn. Also I've never seen someone explain attack cancel bair before so clearly, so thank you for that.

1. Amazing job on the video I'm debating to become a strict greninja main with sheik secondary (greninja is sheik with damage and sheik used to be my main) 2. I never know how much in depth detail there is and find myself constantly going back to watch your ultimate greninja tadpole to toad guides and whatever just to learn more 3. You can still do dtilt back air with smash stick guys. Just buffer your turn around and press y and a for a rising back air. Idk if its easier with tilt stick but I use it this way because I use smash stick so I can get dash attack upsmash and dtilt upsmash better.

Dtilt into attack cancel bair is more consistent because the turnaround is done by the game's engine instead of youself. That's why I use tilt stick, but it is so much easier to land upsmash confirms with smash stick. It's just what people prefer in consistency.

Don't always go for Jab Lock. Fast Fall after Up Air is done. That is actually me. But,i never thought on how Hydro Pump can be good against K.Rool Recovery.

Don't sell yourself short. This vid was really polished. Also, I just moved into a dorm and they literally REMOVED the ethernet capabilities over the summer, so I feel your pain. I also just wanna play in person so bad :( The last segment was really useful for me. In the past, I've always gone for either fsmash, dsmash, or another hydro pump after scooping recoveries because I'd tunnel vision on ending the stock. Thing is, and especially online, a lot of characters can drift ambiguously (*cough* Falcon) and I miss my punishes. You've made me realize that it's okay to go for bair or whatever is guaranteed so I can keep up the edgeguard. Anyway, keep up the good work.!

My tip is that f-tilt is your worst enemy because it’ll stop you right in your tracks so be careful

i love this video I kinda agree with everything here. But i disagree with the first tip. I'm always looking for a jab 1 after hitting with a bair on low %... I just wait for half a second and react to the tech (super easy with dash attack) and if they miss i'll just jab 1 into dash attack upsmash. Always very good content Apolotion. I've been trying to explain everybody that doing upair and fast falling after getting the last hit is the optimal juggle with greninja and it pretty easy to do with a buffered jump up air.

Now that I think about it, that's a really good point! I know that you can frame trap at higher percents with Dash attack > Ff Up air > jab lock, and if they tech, just repeat the cycle. The thing is, I think the teching duration / distance is character dependent, meaning that we can't always get the Dash attack. Definitely something for me to look into!

So formally speaking, to do the dragdown, it's DA > short hop > uair > fast fall at the top of SH. Personally, I like to have jump on L and R, hit both for the short hop macro, and input uair with the c-stick while spamming fast fall. Does that help?

A bit late, but to add on, it really just comes down to understanding greninja's jump height. Just like practicing dtilt attack cancel bair, start off slow at something like 1/4 speed and make sure you can do it consistently. Raise the speed and rinse/repeat. Just remember that you can't do a rising up-air to do a dragdown, so time your upair a little bit after the shorthop comes out.

Yes, but attack cancelled bairs come out faster since it ignores the turnaround frame. Attack cancelled bairs also have more horizontal momentum than turnaround bair, so it'll connect even with the tip of dtilt and the opponent DI-ing away (turnaround bairs won't connect in such situations). Attack cancelling is a universal mechanic that helps you with all characters, so it's also just a good habit into doing more often.

Fast fall during! The timing is the just like short hop fast fall fair, but you're just hitting up on the C-stick instead of forwards.

Practice. Keep practicing the timing for inputting the upair after the short hop (up air can't be used rising if you want a dragdown). Make sure you wait just a teeny tiny bit after the shorthop before inputting the upair and spam fastfall. It takes time to get dragdowns consistently, so don't expect getting them consistently all of a sudden.

Ive been watching your greninjas vds as I see the depth of your dedication towards researching this character, but Ive realized it is hard to keep track of percentages and all that while training or just playing online. SOOO as I am a programmer would you be interested in collaborating with me to make an app for players to have the resources of their character at hand at all time? The prototype would be with greninja first, then I will try to get people from all over the community to help me with the rest of the roaster.

Yeah, actually! I'm a programmer myself, but I've only ever used Python, so I'm not too keen on the whole GUI process. I've made a flashcard program of sorts where I could quiz myself on kill percents and so on, and I've thought of making an online Khan Academy for smash (practice ledge trapping, punishing crossups on shield with reverse vs normal up specials, etc.). I'd definitely be down to collab. My discord / twitter info is in the description if you want to talk there ;)

I don’t see a reason to go for atk. cancel bair, when u can do Irar bair for the same result but easier... If u could give a reason then be my guest. Irar being Instant Reverse Aerial Rush, basically as u hit the d-tilt u input back on the controller and then input back air. *ITS THAT SIMPLE!* At least instead of doing a move, hoping u input in on time, then doing the tightest frame back air which is still awkward bc u have to do the control input first then jump and do the attack rather than the other way around.

I’m having a little trouble with dash atk>upsmash, it seems like sometimes dash atk sends your opponent straight up, and sometimes it sends them diagonally upwards to the right. As a result, I whiff my upsmash a ton, so is there anything I can do about this?

Outside of getting the training mod, I think the best way to practice it would be to do it on a training mode CPU with shuffling, depending on how much you want.

Usually DA sends straight up if you hit with the innermost hitbox of the move or when you're catching an opponent's landing. It's hard, but you can get a grasp on if the attack will send straight up or not depending on where/how dash attack hits.

Make sure you fastfall the first up air so that your low to the ground when the final launcher hit of the first upair connects. Then, follow their launch trajectory/their DI and do a fullhop up air. You can't buffer the up air because that'll do the shorthop macro. If you're doing double up air off of a dash attack, make sure you drift backwards on the first upair so that you're directly under your opponent when the launcher hitbox connects instead of being completely in front of them.

Thing is I know how ti do uair combos but considering the ones that are included on platforms or one uair leading into another that’s the struggle, also the double nair into uair trying to focus on that as well.

@@KennethS504 Landing with greninja's aerials are a little tricky in terms of timing so I'd recommend practicing the timing for hitting sour nair in training mode. Also I'm pretty sure it's a typo but down throw into up air? Surely you meant up throw into up air. Up air platform extensions are also something you can practice in training mode as well on small battlefield. Again, the timing for it is going to be different and maybe not as natural at first, but with enough practice it'll be second nature. As for double nair into up air, I'm not sure why you'd go for up air after the nair when fair does more damage and is going to be easier to connect. Unless your opponent is awful at landing, I don't see a good benefit in choosing up air when you can get a corner situation with fair's great knockback.

@@takumagoto6702 I caught a couple mistake but, instead of going for double nair could just nair into fair which is very optimal also the down throw was typed in wrong, I meant starting of with down throw into dash attack into uair. But I appreciate you’re help my Greninja definitely improved in a mere 2 days
