Even if you are a chess player, you should run. Running is not only for physical benefits. It is mentally and spiritually beneficial.

I suddenly remembered the good old days where the coach or sometimes coaches Supervising the roadwork of everybody while he is on his scooter/bike with a stick yelling . 🤣 It sure did its benefits.

I used to run 3 mile, 5 days and a session of intervals. Now, I just do 3x HIIT interval sessions which are super hard

Lately, I have been 7-13 miles. Two days 7 miles when lifting weights, 10-13 miles on long run days. I can go 6-8 rounds easy.

@@seventhkeyomegasghost8233 I stopped long runs a while ago. Now, my cardio is a mix of bodyweight circuits and interval training on the treadmill especially in summer with the heat.

The quote, from Vince Lombardi, is “Fatigue makes cowards of us all.” IMHO the primary reason boxers run is TRADITION. Boxing is unique in the degree to which it worships tradition and is insulated from, and suspicious of, science and innovation.

Steady, listen to your body and try to increase your pace progressively without going over 80% heart rate

There is a an old saying, run slower to get faster. I say on different runs do different things. So one run, you may want to keep a slow steady pace throughout, in another run you may you may want to vary speed, going up hill you slow up and then on the descent you pick up the pace, when you hit flat ground sprint a bit.

Did boxing from 8 to 22 years old, i did run all the time (the usual i guess, 2,4,6,14 miles) never once liked, is fucking boring, sprints were way more fun.

The real reason they run so much is just in case a wrestler wants to see how well they can fight. Flee in terror, boxing is not fighting. They are not fighters. Boxing is boxing you boys need to stop fooling yourselves.

That’s pure bro science. Running actually increases gains if anything by increasing blood flow to muscles, ATP production etc.

What serious training programme doesn't include running?? Running is the cornerstone to any fitness routine
@fenianlewis

Depends on what the fitness is. Why would a professional cyclist be running? Why would a olympic weightlifter be running? They wouldn't. In boxing you don't need to run really, if you want to skip for an hour you can, you wanna hit the bag for an hour you can. Running is just the easiest to track progress using distance. If you skip for an hour and then next day you do an hour, you can't tell which day was better. In running you run for 30 minuted today and get to 5Km, tomorrow you get to 6, you can see progress

You say that, but all the all time greats ran, it's a reason why running/roadwork is implemented, there are few fighters that were successful without it James Toney who sup[plemented his running with rounds and rounds of sparring and Wilder who doesn't through a lot of punches but looks to nuke you with one blow.@@fenianlewis
