Awesome video as always Gary. Used my mates a few times, years ago, cracking machine, couldn’t swing one now, to old for that weight. My mate is still using it , and loves it, he’s found lots of coins and goodies. I will tell him to watch and like your video. Thanks for sharing mate.

I've the gold max mk1 same as video. I'm going to use for first time on a roman site Rallies this weekend was told its a hammered hover😊

The best machine for ancient sites back in the early 2000’s. It certainly loved the small silvers. I remember seeing it first on Gary’s Detecting & then you showed me on a 3 Counties dig and I was sold. I think it had the edge on the Tejon, maybe not on depth but certainly being more suited to our sites. I used the Goldmaxx & Goldmaxx Power for many years successfully. I would have no problem in picking one up and using it again. Still a good performer 👍

Cheers Ian, great feedback my friend. The Tejon was great but for me the Goldmaxx had the edge because of the iron tone and recovery.

I brought a goldmaxx power back in 2007 and also set of WS1 headphones I still use it to this day as I have a lot of confidence in this XP power I feel there is no need to put this loyal detector in retirement just yet !

I love a good 17K on a day of metal detecting. Thanks for sharing this I will soon be 50 and started detecting with I was 12. I call it the golden days.

Excellent machine my dad had the gold max he new it like the back of his hand it was the first machines I had a go at the next day I bought the xp gold max power again Excellent machine 👍🏼

Hi Gary thank you for this video, I used the Gold Max Power for 2 days, and I was surprised by this detector, you have to keep this kind of tool because it doesn't age as fast as we do Lol.. I don't know where you got your XP sweatshirt but it's nowhere to be found right now. Too bad.. good luck see you soon, Alexandrine and Toch

Thanks Gary, enjoyed the detecting trip down memory lane. A Deus has been my only XP machine but early on I got & fixed up an old (then!) Sovereign XS2A, which I still have, that found me some nice stuff incl 3x gold. The older tech was and still is very capable but have to admit I've not used it for a long time. Compared to the Deus it is heavy & not well-balanced.Look forward to some more old skool skill school videos 👍🏻

@@The-skillschoolVery true, although I've only been detecting 10-11years it all seems to be a lot more serious and commercial these days compared to then but I guess when you're out in the fields without your phone nothing can touch you. My phone always stays in the car 👍🏻

I purchased 2 of these separately spares or repair cheap With a bit of work I got them both going 1 has a button welded in to the handle that is wired to the board (something to do with discrimination) have you ever seen one modded like that ? Can’t fault the goldmaxx on a good permission the finds pouches will be overflowing Untill the days of drone detectors that auto stop at silver and gold signals I’ll happily use a goldmaxx or deus My best finds 2 x gold found with the original bounty Hunter fast tracker 🤷‍♂️ All the best and happy hunting

Have a gmaxx2 which i use regularly with a sniper coil, do lightweight. Still finds me silvers at crazy depth.

Still got mine. I keep it as a spare along with a Tesoro gold sabre for river banks. I mostly use a deus 1. A strange but very holy trinity

had the XP 250 back in the day !! great machine !!! would love one of these but they hold there price well and they do that for a reason !! they are not called the hammered hoover for nothing , id pick this over the newer machines anyday , but then again i'm old school it's called using your senses , fantastic machine !!!! maybe one day i'll own one !!!!!

Loved the video Gary , We get so blinkered with all the new technology It’s easy to forget just how good those hand built machines were , unfortunately my gold max was stolen after a break in never to be seen again , Fortunately I still have a couple of tone only machines and can still enjoy a few hours out finding with them , HH 👍

Ability to tune out the ground is where its at generally and not just sheer power so I wonder if on that note the Manticore is groundbreaking or not really (not that I could ever afford one so thanks for the heads up on an old Gmax). Dave
