History says, although there's a time for everything. I think they'll only be playing both rookies if they earn it. Lively will play by default because the other Center options are so meh, but even he will probably only play about 20 mpg... It doesn't look like Omax will be in the main rotation unless he proves himself worthy. The advantage for the Dallas rookies is that they'll only be asked to defend and rebound, and for Omax to shoot 34% or better on open threes, and for Lively to catch lob dunks.

You’re not telling the truth. They’ve complained about Steph’s defense forever. They did the same thing about Kobe. Since it’s a team sport, the rest of the Mavs team need to contribute. Since they will often score below 30%, they need to play defense. If one player scores, the other players need to contribute too.

@@cyanraven7916 Right, but you're judging them off a few preseason games, and I don't think you can draw any relevant conclusions from preseason games. As a Mavs fan, I'm also worried about the perimeter defense, but it's going to take time to see if they can gel defensively. The Mavs offense should be one of the best, so their defense doesn't necessarily need to be great, as evidenced by the Nuggets winning it last season with the 15th ranked defense.

I don't think Luka is going anywhere. Dallas made strides this off-season, they're getting closer to finally putting a good team around Luka. They just need one or two pieces. They need a legit rim protector and rebounder, and maybe Lively develops quickly into that role. And they need another dynamic 3 and D wing with some length, and maybe Omax can develop into that, or they can get it in a trade. But the Mavs offense should be really lethal already.
