I ran a quote with AAMI, on their website they advise as long as the mods are legal that you do not need to tell them about it, mod plate for engine mod will be fine. Granted, they probably won't cover the cost of the mods if it is written off, but that's a risk a modder needs to take.

This really put me off getting a turbo 86/BRZ! I'm in the market for one now and deciding whether to get a S15 or turbo BRZ/86. S15 obviously built for turbo but will be older and probably need some close maintenance. Any thoughts on which one to go for? Also, how old are you? I'm based in Sydney too and I had a quote for 2.5k for a S15 insured at 50k. Surprised to see how much they quoted you, would definitely be a deciding factor for me.

Hey mate thanks for your message! Look to be completely fair, even though the BRZ/86 while turbo have these flaws, they are also such an awsome platform to mess around with and modify to your liking! S15 is super cool and already turbo, but their gearboxes are the same as the BRZ/86, once you put some power into them, they too go Bang. Im my eyes truley, a 86/BRZ are basically a modern day s15 really! Overall they are both amazing cars, goodluck with your choice my man! 👍

This is why if you do it do it right. Im putting a SC in mine. Upgraded clutch,flywheel, aluminum radiator,fans, oil catch, oil cooler, UL headers. Btw these cars are 200 crank hp and around 160 whp @ stock.

I wonder if you can fit a wrx style top mount intercooler with a bonnet scoop. Saves the squeeze in the front bumper
@AutoMotiv8ed2 жыл бұрын
that would be cool but unfortunately it cant be done
@gioelebezzan23517 ай бұрын
@@AutoMotiv8ed Kind of a late response but I think you could actually do it, there's a turbo kit (Ptuning Competition V2 if I'm not mistaken) where the intercooler piping goes straight over the intake manifold... With some custom work I think that you could just interrupt the charge piping right there but the space available for the intercooler would be quite small...

What if I just want to add 100 whp? Can I achieve that with headers a tune and anything else?
@AutoMotiv8ed2 жыл бұрын
Maybe not 100whp exact. i had headers, an intake and a tune before going turbo, which made 150whp

what additive did you add to the gearbox bro? im running penrite GL4. bit noisy but seems to provide better protection than OEM as its fully synthetic? and yeah man, insurance with boost is INSANE on our cars.... im N/A and paying 1.6k a year. nuts.

hey man! if you go to 1:50 in this video link kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNdjftxknK7Sc4k.html&ab_channel=AutoMotiv8ed this is the additive i used, its been 2 years and still works a treat man, man insurance is honestly such a rip for our cars its crazy, but oh well nothing we can do

Thanks for the honest insight… I’m FBO with a tune up in Brisbane, at age 28 with no driving infringements my insurance is about 950, 975ish a year. I’ve been leaning towards a Sprintex 210 or the SME kit with 250whp as a goal for my daily, but after hearing about that insurance premiums… it’s just not worth it. :( Might as well get a 370z or a 300c or something faster from factory. That being said I still love the car though hahaha. Good vid, man 👍
@AutoMotiv8ed2 жыл бұрын
that's really cheap man! I think different areas of living play a big role in insurance premiums also! nice man! I just went turbo because its harder to make the same power while supercharged, but around 250whp, supercharger will work a treat. i know the feels man but like you said i still love the brz so much haha! thank man really appreciate it!

Turbocharging the brz totally destroys whats good about it. Ill never understand why anyone would do that. Supercharging is the way to go for this car. That increases the fun factor. Big difference
@AutoMotiv8ed6 ай бұрын
The question of the decade, to turbo or supercharge the twin. Will be the forever on going question!!
