That hot dog part took me out! I would never do that😂😂😂 You've definitely brought it home for me to get a hooded dryer or soft bonnet one. I've heard KZfaqrs and professionals say it but it didn't register. My hair felt good just applying the deep conditioner and letting it sit for an hour. Someone else in the comments mentioned at the salon everybody goes under the hooded dryer with the deep conditioner. I'm listening now

YEEESSS girl preach!!❤️ -- I have found that the main reason why people ... and I mean people have issues with growth is that they are NOT deep conditioning their hair. As well as, proper cleansing of their hair to remove build up at the root. I like your candidness about hair more people should try that approach.

I needed to hear this. My hair finally started to thrive when I went natural. It went from 12 to 17 inches. Then it stop for years, it wouldn't retain length. That's when I started getting more serious about why I wasn't retaining length and knew it was because I was being too lazy of a natural. It's been four months and now It's 19 inches! I realize getting my hair off my shoulders worked for me. It was causing made friction and breaking off my hair. Plus I wasn't moisturizing properly and a host of other things.

Kaylyn, do you ever use a diffuser? I have been diligently deep conditioning since discovering your videos, and I love the definition and moisture that have resulted from doing so. I have 4a hair and I am thinking about diffusing to dry (low air/warm setting with a leave in, gel and a coconut oil protectant) and maintain definition and then putting my hair in a loose bun for the reminder of the cold weather season. I am getting married in May, and I want to wear my natural hair, probably pinned up, so I am trying to take care of it as much as possible until that time. Also, what are your thoughts about wrapping wet natural hair to dry and stretch? You and your hair are beautiful!!! Thanks!
@KaylynIvy
@KaylynIvy 5 жыл бұрын
congratulations Carla! how exciting !🎉🥳 I usually air dry as much as possible and will just regularly blow dry my hair dry to hurry it up if it’s taking too long. I’ve used a diffuser maybe twice and I thought it was just ok. All the scrunching in combination with the heat (but mine was on high heat) just made my hair frizzy and was taking away a little moisture. But thats personal preference honestly because some people want the frizz that comes with diffusing . I’d just rather use a regular blow dryer. Regardless though I can say your hair will still be just as healthy using it as it would without it. Really comes down to preference

Thank you for telling the truth!!!! I have just turned 49, big chopped at the age of 48 after my hair broke off at the crown and all over quickly while relax. Diagnosed by dermatologist thru scalp biopsy in having scarring alopecia with ccca. Yes, I was faithfully going to the beautician every two weeks like a fool for haircare and not seeing any growth for a number of years. The former beautician rarely condition my hair not alone deep condition. She use a 2 to 3 minute rinse out conditioner. The only hairstyle wore was wrapped and flat iron and finger waves. The former beautician asking me why is my hair breaking off, why is my edges thinning and receding, etc. I rarely seen us wearing our natural hair in Chicago over the several years ago until last year. I got this bald spot on crown due to the damage. The hair is slowly growing back but you can still see the bald spot. Don't know if my hair will returned back to it's normal length as a child which was shoulder length when pressed out. Disgusted that I let it get this far before knowing it was the relaxer, hair coloring rinse that was damaging my hair and the former beautician seen how damaged my crown was and over processing my hair with the relaxer eventhough I have question part of my hair had little new growth and other part was straight meaning the beautician should only touch up the new growth not the entire head. Glad you figured this out before major, major, major hair damage.

You can’t do a protective style then ignore your hair. Sew in, braids, weave, wig, natural styles. You gotta take care of it.

Awww thank you so much !! I used to have breakage in the beginning when I worked in too big of sections...likeee in the shower I’d detangle a big section with A TON of conditioner but outside of the shower when it was time to style my hair was dry since it wasn’t humid to keep it moist so I worked in TINY sections. Like basically if I was doing a braid out instead of detangling the entire section at once again I’d one by one detangle each piece of hair that I planned on braiding (so annoying but that helped me). You might want to switch conditioners and use something with my slip so your hair can glide through the tangles easier. And shedding is normal. I shed LIKE CRAZY you would think I’m blading. But a little breakage in the beginning is normal cause you still have to get the hang of everything and your hair isn’t used to this. Just give it a little more time and it’ll get easier

Let me start off by saying that I have relaxed hair and still watch your videos because one day I will finally ditch the perm, but deep conditioning with heat has literally changed my hair. I used to "deep condition" in the shower while I washed my body (about 5 mins) and that's it. NOW? I deep condition under the dryer for 30-40 minutes and my hair is like butter. I don't even have to re-moisturize my hair during the week because the moisture is already locked in my hair strands. You're so entertaining, I love your analogies LOL!

My hair was literally down to my waist in my childhood like it was longgg and had a completely more loose texture naturally and heat wasn’t put on my hair too much only occasionally then as I got older I started relaxing my hair and it got to my shoulder was damageddd and thin unlike it used to be then I started to transition but never cut my hair and I had the texture of 3c/4a I saw no gain in length or thickness so I gave up so I’m back to straightening it but after this I’m gonna try again.Do you know why texture would’ve changed to much tighter curls and the amount of hair loss I had is quite unbelievable tbh
@KaylynIvy
@KaylynIvy 5 жыл бұрын
I have no idea. I’d ASSUME it’s because kids have softer textures until they get older...kind of like when we’re first born we don’t have our kinky black hair yet. But the same thing happened to me. In my childhood pictures my hair does not look like a 4a at all. It was BARELY curly at that
